Our Heavenly Father cracked through some of the hardness in my heart by means of this video... A harsh critical upbringing has been quite damaging to me, and then I passed some of that on to my children...
Martha, your words are helping me to see 1st that God loves me and forgives ME for being hard on my children (especially my now 21 yr old daughter).
And 2nd that He wants to keep healing me of the extremely deep hurt, hardness, and self-rejection that has plagued and tormented me.
And 3rd that He does care about such things as my relationship with my daughter. That He is not distant and cold, but He knows my desire for a restored relationship with her and will help!
Oh, if only she could know that the true God loves her, does not judge her, and does have the best wisest ways of Life. My life WILL begin to show that more as I am healed more and more. (I have a personality/identity disorder that God is delivering me from; I believe that He will bring wholeness and integration.)
I thank God for your walk with Him, Martha, for your telling us honestly about your life experiences, and for your sharing your mother's inspired wise words!!!

I would greatly appreciate a copy of your "letter to a college kids"! While my child is done with college, she seems "lost" and seems afraid to be an adult. She liked being taken care of as a child and is afraid of the challenges that life throws her way! She tries to get her life in order...promises to get her room in order, her papers, promises to go to a nutritionist, the gym, and doesn't do it. I tell her to start with God, so things don't spiral out of control...and if she gives her heart to Him...things will fall into place! I know you understand.

I really loved this! I have a daughter in her second year of college, and she & I talk almost every day1 But, my nephew is in his Senior year of college and I saw him this past weekend and asked him why we really had not seenmuch of him since starting college. He had alot of excuses about his studies took him overseas for a few months, understandable, but his parents miss him something awful. esp. his mom. And, during our visit at our family reunion last weekend, he announced to us all that he no longer believes in God or Jesus Christ as anything more than a man who was a good magician. So, I would like for as many people to pray for his soul as possible and I sent the video to him.He is lost. was raised in a Christian home, Catholic dad and a very Christian background... something terrible has happened to the young mans heart. He was now sort of cold and not the same as he used to be. My heart is breaking for I know that there is something that can get thru to him, we just have to find it and help him before itis too late.

I recently discovered your wonderful wedsite. Your words of encouragement and your life stories speak to my heart. In the past two days I have listened to all of the video clips that are currently posted. God always leads us to the paths that we need to travel if only we ask his help. Your "Letter To A College Student" has spoken to me in the deepest way this morning. Just yesterday I was thinking about my first born son who is now married and has children. He has struggled finding consistant employment since leaving the military. His wife has carried a heavy load of taking care of all $$$$$$$$ for the most part of the last 2 years. I have assisted by buying clothes for the children, which I love to do anyway. However, I feel a distance between my son and me. He never calls to say "Hey ma, how are you", or even respond to emails that I send. I feel that he is feeling depressed inside if himself even though he normally wears a beautiful smile.
My son is not a "college kid," but I request that you email me a hard copy of your "Letter To A College Kid." I want to write my son and remind him that God is always there for him and will supply all of his needs. He too was raised to beleive in and worship God, however he is not taking his own little girls to church and I don't think he talks to them about God and how he is within each of them, and is only a prayer away. Your mothers words to you were powerful and made a difference for you and I would like to use some of them to express to my son Gods love for him and how it is his responsibility
to teach this to his children/family. His wife and girls need to see him as a leader in his family even when times are difficult.

You do not know how much your series Touched by an Angel touched me although it was aired in my country years after it was made. I come from Nigeria and i am not a college kid nor a mother but, the Letter to a college Kid touched a point in my adult life which happened only a few months ago. Out of rebellion i tried things i never could have imagined i could do, it's made me feel like a rotten apple "worthless" even though i also know i could talk to him and that he will not judge me yet i still could not help judging myself. What a great way to start the morning off with the words of inspiration and encouragement you just spoke. My son won't be in college for 4 more years. I know I will have empty nest syndrome when he goes, but I know God will always be there for both of us and he will help him blossum into a great young man. Thankyou for these messages.

THIS IS A GOOD -THOUGHT FOR YOUR CHILD TO HEAR!! THEY DON'T LESSON TO DEAR MOM ANYORE!!
My son was away at college for 6 years. He was in school in MA. We had moved from New York to Nashville, TN in his Sophomore year. He earned a fellowship & was able to complete his Master's Degree, so that accounts for the two extra years. He changed & grew those years, sometimes rebelling against his father & me. He fought with me long distance & when he came home for visits. We had thought he had changed too much, & that he would never be close to us again. We were heartbroken. That was not the case, last Spring he moved to Nashville & was once again the loving son we had raised. He is moving on with his life with a new career & love interest. We know our prayers were answered by God. He kept our son safe at college & helped him to once again see how much we meant to him. A parent's love stands the test of time. We are so PROUD of our son.
I was anxious to watch this as I have a two kids away in college, but the video doesn't work for me. Reading the comments made me want to see it more or atleast find out about it so could you please email me written text and also send me the link to see the clip? I will try on another computer. I didn't go to college, but I got married again at 41 and it felt like I left my mother for good.Mom and I are real close and always have been. But she lost part of me when I got married so I can say it is like going off to school. I only live 40 minutes from my mother. My husband and I do live close to her, I also live 4 miles from my son and daugher in law. Mom has faith in God and strength, I get mine from her. My son and I are close also they gave me my first grandchild a girl on Aprilrd.I hope whe he time come if she wants to go she can to college. And I will be lost.
What a wonderful video, & so timely! My daughter called me from college in tears this week - afraid I would be so disappointed in her. She is learning about Eastern religions & is drawn to some parts of them, and was afraid how I would feel since she was raised in a strong Christian home. I told her I was proud of her for exploring her own faith & I knew she believed in God & God believed in her, so she would find what she needed to find, and she need not worry about me. Please offer this in text form so I can send this to her, as I know she will be unable to open the video.

very touching words, i have 3 teenage girls. I thought of them as i listened. in this day and age, it is scary not knowing who is coming into their lives. hopefully, all that we have instilled in them, most of it will stay with them, morals, values, but especially God.

I am going through a simular thing with my 19 year old daughter and she lives in Michigan and we live in Tennessee. She recently came down here and we missed her so much that we allowed her boyfriend of 2 years to come with her. We believed if we could just show them the right way- God's way we could have an impact on their lives. He came with all of his philosopy books and they were reading them together and even though ,he has been raised in the church, he doesn't know the Lord. I of course had my own motherly fears of this individual's charater and how he influenced my daughter, one night I overheard a conversation they were having in the kitchen about God and to my surprise she was defending that their was one . I can't tell you how reassurring this was for me as a mother . It made me know that God was already taking care of this child and he was not going to leave her. They left to go back to Michigan and when she e-mails me now- she let's me know that her and her friends are going to church and she is reading the scriptures at least one a day. I have to remember that she belongs to him first and it has stregthened my own belief that he is always on top of these matters. I love your story and it touched my heart.

I thank GOD for you because you are an inspiration not only to me but to all whom you have touched through this wonderful website A Touch of Encouragement. While I was watching and listening to your video LETTER TO A COLLEGE KID, I for one was written by my Mother when I was in the University. " If you think, no one is around you to advise and support you, just pray to our Father in heaven and HE will always be there to help you out."

Your vidios never disappoint me. I have had issues with my own son, who is now in prison. I am resolved to reach out to him, and explain, that, while I might not like what he does, I will always love him. And that there is nothing that he can do that can cause his Father in heaven to love him any more, or any less, than He already does.

I have to say that this message spoke to me personally. My mother has since passed and the only thing that I have is letters that she has written me. I have them in a box in a drawer in my room. I also have a couple of them in the car. The reason why I am mentioning this is because when I was in the military my mother wrote me everyday. Those letters helped me get through the ruff times and the good times. As she stated in so many letters that we must take the bad days and night as we we would the good days and nights. Letters when written or when we are doing our own things at home can become the most valuable things that we can ever have--at least to me. Thanks once again for sharing another wonderful story.

Dear Martha:
"Letter to a College Kid" was very special to me. Like many of the others, it felt it was meant for me; however, in a different sort of way. The reason being that is due to the fact that I never went to college; however, due to marrying and moving away..my life too did change dramatically. However, thanks Heaven for pay phone booths. My mother always accepted those collect calls and would allow me to talk for more than a hour at times just to keep in touch. The one thing that stands out is that she always reminded me to keep my faith and reminded me that she was still there. I am back living in my home state with my husband and three sons. I am only about 10 mins. drive from my mother. We don't allow a day to go by that we don't talk to one another. We keep giving each other encouragement to hang on to our faith and to always remember that our Lord is there and all we have to do is go to Him in prayer. My mother is not only a great encourager but she is the greatest blessing the Lord has given to me. Without Him and without her...I don't believe that I would be where I am today.
I pray that this story will continue to touch many "angels" and their lives and that somehow I honor my mother by these comments because I cannot begin to tell her or show her enough for all that she means not only to me but our entire family.
May God continue to bless you with your talent of reaching out to remind people of His wonderful love and encouragement to keep going in a world that has many different paths and hopefully, these will continue to help us remain on the right path.

I learn about you since TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, for nine years I follow the program. You have no idea how much love and help I got with my family and some friends...we
received. God gave you a wonderful gift, I know gifts from God not always are easy
to hold in, but it will be more difficult do not do it...Now with this program you have in
the internet is wonderful, and every time I watch and listen one of them, I feel that
you are talking to me. It is part of my worship to listen them. Marha keep going
with this program, it is wonderful...
Also, I want to tell you thank you so much for the wonderful detail your company
had to me. I called the day or after the day Touched by an Angel went out of air,
to tell you guys thank you so much for those this years of "GOD LOVES YOU", I even
sometimes I feel down or with problems I know with all my heart that God loves me,
that God is walking with me at all the time...The point is that I got surprise when
I arrieved to my home after work and there was a box for me, and I got in shock when
I saw that there were videos, cups, photos, etc. from Touched By An Angel program.
It was the most wonderful detail that somebody that I do not know did to me...
I am not asking for more, please... I just want to tell thank you.
Now I am starting a new life in California, well, I moved from county to other one.
Two and a half hours driven. Still Southern California, but from the ocean to the
mountains...but God it is with me and my family.
Anyway I am still watching TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL in Hallmark Channel, I know, it will be
out soon again, but I hope you can let me know if it is going to be in other broadcast
so I can follow it with my family and friends.

Martha again, keep going, this is a wonderful gift that you have and it needs to be
share... We need to listen about real world, things that it happens, and we can practice

I only wish that I had had a parent who would talk with me and loved me that much. I was raised in a children's home and now many years later I am realizing what I missed and I cannot go back and regain, so I am going forward and trying hard to find my place in this world. I truly enjoy your encouragement. I think that you and your messages are true blessings to so many, even when Touched By an Angel was on all the time I never missed a show and now I still get to watch it occasionally on the Hallmark Channel.

Almost every video's message feels like it's just for me....this one, even more so. It took me a long time, and now you've confirmed it, that kids go away to school and borrow money from us, take our favorite sweaters (Mom can get another one) and even our must-have plum eye-shadow, and eventually they begin to feel guilty about all they've borrowed/taken. They keep their distance. They don't realize that while you may be disappointed, you love them unconditionally....all you really want is that phone call...just to let you know they're okay. Also, you'd be surprised at what they take with them besides the tangibles. I hadn't heard from my son in several months when I received a call from the chaplain at school. Scared me to pieces. He was asking for my son's phone number as he had found his wallet in the pew the day before. Thank you, God.

"Letter to a college kid", Made me cry and remember how it was between me and my mom when I left the midwest and went to california, and did not call or write often enough. My mom had that strength and faith in God all the time too. In fact, I used to feel that her prayers were the strongest and God always listened to her. She is walking with God now, and I can only pray she is not disappointed in me. Thanks for sharing your stories, I love them.
