Letter to a College Kid

Our Mother's Day video got a great deal of response. So many moving stories from you about your own mothers and your plans to honor them. I was deeply affected by the letters from those of you who have recently lost your moms; this will be a hard Mother's Day for you and our prayers are with you.

One of the most interesting comments was from a young lady named Lizzie, who apologized that her letter wasn't really about mothers at all. Here's what she wrote:

I would also like to be able to find hard copies of some of these video messages. I truly feel blessed by your ministry and know there must be many others as well that would love to be able to read them over and over and yet don't always have a computer at use. Please say they can be found somewhere to be printed or mailed?

God bless you as you minister to others,

Lynn Baum

I so badly needed to hear these words, in todays economy when about us food, gas, utilies are high abd friends are losing their houses and we are barely hanging on, I have to pause and be gratedful because in the last five years I had major brain surgery and than last year a devastating surgery to repair cervical discs in the neck that has taken me so long to recover from. I get so angery because I am a burden to my family and can not do so much of the things that I loved doing, and than I remember your words and am ashamed. Life can be so easily taken for granted and My beloved Father gave me not one but two miracles so I need to remember that in these hard times and that the only real worry is will I earn a place by him when I am called home.. Thank you so much for reminding me what is truely important. I will be keeping my heart and eyes open and filled with his teachings with your help and others.
God Bless you,
Grateful in Virginia

Lizzie, I read your letter, and understand the conflict between what you are wanting. I smiled, as I thought maybe God is telling you he is with you through all of this and has alwyas been by your side guiding you, coaxing you, and even coaching you. Sometimes take a step back from all that others are telling you to do, just breathe and watch those who are struggling with all that they are doing.
Know God works through you, relax in that comfort. Some tests are done on paper, Gods test are done on our life. Do what you 'need' to do in your Christian life, not what you 'want' to do.
God gives us what we 'need', not what we 'want'. Let go and let God do the rest.
I have faith in you, that you will choose what you need.

always
Jeanine

Lizzie, I have reared two wonderful daughters. They make their mother and me very proud to have been part of their "becoming." THey truly love the Lord Jesus with all their hearts! THey are in their 30's now. but as teens they both had the same "feelings" that you are experiencing. You are either having the feelings because you were raqised by your parents to have a "good conscience," or you actually have the Holy Spirit convicting you of your sinful desire not to follow the commands of Jesus with all your heart. After you decide which is the case, you must follow your process to a conclusion that will honor God. Either confess your sins and repent by asking Jesus to give you a new heart and fill you with His Spirit, or thank Jesus for the Spirit who is now acting as your guide into all truth. It's okay to experience doubts; it's not okay to let them lead you from the narrow way. Please ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts. He will! If you don't sense His presence, call upon the name of the Lord Jesus and you will be saved!

Lizzie,
I am not going to preach to you, if your confused go outside in nature, look around at the beauty of mother earth and the wonderment of Gods creations. It is not God you do not beleive in, its feeling in the church there is more to the story...am I right? Start looking on the internet at spirituality. God is everywhere and mostly he/she is in you.
Love & Light

Lizzie dear, in this time and age, you are so bless to know about GOD, if one mokre young knew about GOD, like you do it would be a blessing, honey the DEVIL just want some power, please don't let him take over your life, it will be the most terrible thing you ever did, still trust God Keep the faith, ask him to show you what his desires for your life is, a he'll do just that, but keep the faith, beleive him, see GOD"S WORD, doesn't LIED. Pray all the time, call JESUE, when you feel down and out, or just sad, call the name JESUE> Much LOve from an older woman...............

How do I receive a hard copy of this "Letter to a college kid"? I would like to send it to my son.

Thank you. I love to read and hear your stories everyday.

Dear Lizzie,
I know how you feel as sometimes I think that having a relationship with God turns more into a chore then a connection to re-align and connect with our Creator. I also am making the transition into becoming an adult and at times feel that I don't need anyone but myself to get me through anything and I want to venture out into the world; at the same token I also feel afraid to leave behind the safety net of childhood. What you are doing is not horrible but rather you are changing and growing into new phases entering into your life and I know at one point (and MORE) that every person on the planet has felt just as you do.
Remember, God always can find us even in the most unlikely of places and times especially when we don't necessarily think he can locate us..but he always knows, that's for sure! We are the ones who play the detectives and try to seek where he is..
These feelings are shared among all as we are about to venture on our own for the first time..leaving our innocence behind and finding the true meaning of our lives. It can be pretty frightening and uneasy when people ask "What you are going to do with your life?" and when you find yourself questioning "What AM I going to make with my life?"
Take time for yourself and know that where you are so have been the great leaders, your teachers, your parents,etc...
Martha has so many inspiring and life changing stories that you can watch..she really keeps me motivated because at times I believe that God has abandoned me but with her stories it shows you this isn't the case at all and gives you a boost of faith that we all so need in our world today.
God is with us always...You will be fine,Lizzy that I know for sure..You are evolving into the journey known as adulthood..Welcome to the Club! PS I would make a suggestion that when you feel ready to that you get yourself a journal and use it specifically to create your own Letters To God where you write to him whatever is on your mind, what you are feeling, and be honest..your answer may come in the simplest form of feeling peace(I myself have to start mine up again!). I also recommend the Chicken Soup book series. I have read them in the past and they are fantastic! They have a series of Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul too! PPS I am not sure if this helps or not but I hope you got something from its contents. God Bless you Lizzie and all to read this..May we never forget that even though we are the ones driving our cars in life that God is always riding next to us in the passenger seat! Warmly,Lisa
