Hello Mrs. Martha thjis story is great but I'm short on words, going through something right now and I need your prayers. THANKS and BE BLESSED! ! !
I always love just how Martha can put into words what I can
totally understand! What an inspiration you are to so many
people! Keep doing what you're doing, we love it and I read as
many short stories that I can when I have time to go on Beliefnet.
You're such a caring and wonderful person and yes I do go on at just the right time sometimes and your messages are about something I am going through at that
time! I love it!! Take care and best wishes!
Martha... What a wonderful message - I have been enjoying your link for quite some time now, but no other has made me feel more at peace than this one. Blessings to you for the wonderful work you do through our Lord!!
Great video. Depending on HIM for our peace is the only real peace we will find. GBU
Martha,
First of all I really enjoy listening to your soothing voice and the wisdom that comes through in your sharing. I have seen in my own circle of friends a slowing down on the spending and getting back to enjoying the simple things of life. Sitting around and visiting with one another, playing games, sharing meals, listening, talking and praying praying praying! We each can play our own individual part in this recovery process by taking responsibility for our own actions, reaching out to help where and when we can and still remembering that God is in Control! Thanks so much for the wonderful video! God Bless you and yours.
Hi all, I was sent this message & I believe it should be shared with all generations, even the unborn. I do not know if this is true or not but let’s make it HIS truth…such an easy way to let our leaders know what is HIS truth…HE came to give life, not death.
God’s blessings, Donna
Please read and follow through. Let's drown them in red envelopes on March 31, 2009!
Get a red envelope. On the front, address it to:
President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington , D.C. 20500
On the back, write the following message: "This envelope represents one child who died because of an abortion. It is empty because the life that was taken is now unable to be a part of our world." Please share & mail the red envelopes on March 31st, 2009.
That was a great message you really hit home. I trying to start up a small business in these trying times. Thanks for reminding me to keep my faith in God because he has the answer. But I have thinking about one verse in the bible and it is Isaiah 40:31. But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be wary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Oh what a great message. We just have to keep our focus that God is in charge of our life as long as we study his word and get a closer relationship with God. Is this an easy time, no. I have never seen times like this, but I heard my mother talk about times like this. She's not here to reinforce what you just said, they made it during the depression in the 30's, we just have to keep our focus where it should be and all will be well.
I just returned from a funeral of a 10 year old girl who died a horrific death due to cancer. She lost her leg, hair and then her life.
I was hit head on by a drunk driver and have no movement from the waist down. I have to tell you the why question has hit me more than once. Again this morning it hit me again. The Pastor had a great word about faith and noted Madison's statement FROG, Fully Rely On God and that is what she did until the end. Her child like faith challenged me to turn off my doubts and believe in God again. Things sometime seem to make no sense, but without faith in God they really make no sense
I or you have a choice to believe or not. It is that simple. IF GOD BE FOR US WHO CAN BE AGAINST US. HE IS FOR US.
My twin sister and I were small children during the great depression. I am sure I do not know how really hard it was for my parents. But, I do remember some of the good things. Neighbors worked together more, visited more and helped each other out. When we had home made ice cream--one neighbor brought eggs, another milk, another other ingredients. Then it was placed into a bucket and into a wash tub of ice. Each one would take turns turning and turning the bucket until it was satisfactory. This was the best ice cream I have ever had. We rarely got all we could eat but the goal was to make sure everyone had a bowl of this delicious rare treat. My mother traded pretty flour sacks with neighbors in order to get enough material to make 2 dress just alike--and they were very pretty. My Mother and Dad are gone now but I think my sister and I learned during all of this that you do not get everything you want. Sacrifice is necessary during hard times. I do worry about my grand children who think they should get everything they want-instantly. I do hope the depression does not get as bad as it was in the 1930s but I think our young people of today need to learn to save and conserve.
Hi Martha,
All we can do is believe in God because he always there to call upon.
IN GOD WE TRUST!!!
thank you so much FOR YOUR SPIRIT in god we trust as i love to come to your web sight as it has so much knowledge and positive message yes we must learn for the older generations before us WE WILL BE STRONGER thank you so much
Martha, thank you for reflecting on "the greatest generation". I feel God always puts these heros and angels in our paths so we can learn and grow from them. I can remember my mother telling me about the "great depression" and how difficult it was to live through it, but that it made her a stronger person. She never talked about doing without, only that times were very hard and you didn't have "this or that", and you learned to do with what you had. You grew your own food, etc. Well, no matter, as she was telling me that, we were working in the garden, with which she fed her five children, and a good portion of the town, and I remember her making my sister and I beautiful little sundresses and outfits out of flour sacks.
This is a time more than ever that we need to listen to that "still small voice" to hear what the Word is telling us to do and depend upon our faith and trust in God to see us through, and remember the lessons our parents and grandparents taught us about the depression and hard times. Remember the simplicity of the precious life they lived, how wonderfully simple and beautiful it truly was and return to that.
How do I make the video work properly? It comes in small amount, have to wait, real choppy. Can someone help me? Thank you
Many of us have been praying for the next great spiritual awakening... and here we have it!
Awakenings always happen when... lo and behold... God's people NEED to wake up. We have needed to wake up from the lack of discipline that "easy" credit has brought us.
It is time for God's people to shake themselves free of this credit trap that has brought on this economic spiral downward.
Thanks for the uplifting words!

We are not of this world but of Gods Kingdom! He is our provider, he is the same God today as he was when he supplied Manna in the desert. The two keys I have found to be true in any crisis is to check my faith, trust in him and not your circumstances. Secondly tithing is essential. Try it today, make a commitment to trust God to provide and then do what he has commanded each and everyone of us to do and that is to bring 1/10 off the top of our income to him. He will bless that, he is true to his word. Test him, you cant out give God!
Blessings in Christ to all of you!!! I pray for you all that God will pour out a blessing that you cannot contain!!!!
There are times that our spirit is being crushed but it doesn't mean defeat
or surrrender,it means reenergizing. We can't give up faith.
I have prayed for people and these tough times but I have also taken some positive action by signing a petition on the care2.com website that will encourage government to help people not lose their homes. The petition is called Congress: Help Keep Families in Their Homes and there you will find more information on how a small change made by the government will help families to not lose their homes. A worthy cause to support in these difficult times. There are many worthy causes to support on this site that affect us all, our world, human rights and God's creatures rights. By signing these petitions we are saying we care about what goes on in our world. Some people may scoff at this and think it doesn't do anything but I have seen many successes and good resolutions come from taking a peaceful stand in this way. It has made a difference and is worth getting involved in. Not all government officials turn a deaf ear to what the people have to say in this way. May God bless you all. Many blessings to you, your staff, and your families.

Hello Mrs Martha you have said a mouth full of what we needed to hear when everything we do seems to not matter and everywhere everyone wont to take our hard earned money and all the head up people are making all the money and the people at the bottom cant even get a raise. We were told that we were not getting a raise in Janurary, which is the month we usually get 25 cent raises. I was so dissapointed but I had to stop and be greatful that at least I have a job and there may be someone who doesn't. I just want to say we can make and we will make if we just surround ourselves with positive people full of knowledge young and yes old whom inspire us to hold on may GOD continue to bless you and your family always be blessed I enjoyed this video Thanks! ! !
Martha,
I am not sure why we are, where we are, but I do know that one day we will look back and see how these tough days made many of us come closer to God. One thing I try us to look around and see all the good that surrounds us. Yes, the economy is in the toilette, but there is still good, if you just look and try to fill your mind with it, you will become it.
Thank you for being some of the good in our world and for reflecting the light that so clearly shines in your eyes.
May God bless you always,
William Garvey

Good Morning Martha, Like Debbie I want to thank you for the words of encouragement. We do live in stressful and uncertain times. But we cannot give up, we must go on. My mother and my mother-in-law are both towers of strength. I learned good Godly qualities from them both, to have faith in God and if I just take a step forward God would be there to meet me. I witnessed them both go through situations, that only God could have saved the day. I think these times are here so that we may once again have faith in our Creator...my favorite quote-That which does not kill us will makes us stronger.
Martha: Is it possible to post one of your messages onto my Facebook page? I don't see a link anywhere so wasn't sure. But wow my friends would love to listen to your messages, they are so good. Please let me know.
Martha, thanks for the honest words of incouragement. I know such a person...my Mom. She was born in the not-so-great depression; it did make her a stronger person. Living in lack taught her life lessons that she passed on to my siblings and myself. We learned to look for quality in goods and people. We make the most of what we have; always giving thanks to God for making it possible that we have just such blessings. She set a good example in front of us. She became a tower of strength, courage and honor that our family holds in high regard and great respect. She is a beacon of light not only to her family but anyone who has met her. Yes, hard times makes one stronger...and wiser.
