What would you do with an extra one?

As the summer comes to an end and we try to fit in everything we promised ourselves, Martha Williamson reminds us that the great miracle of this earth is that God'll always give us another summer to look forward to.

Martha,

I just viewed your video regarding Summer. I have already written in my journal how sad I am that Summer is over. It is a deep saddnes within that I feel when Summer is over. But, I love the Autumn and all it's color, so this is what I have to look forward too now. So I have to "get over it" and go plant some mums! God Bless you. You have really inspired me with your comments. I was just layed off from my job of 38 years at a company that I loved. Anything you put out helps me.

Did you have to remind me winter is coming. Just kidding God bless you for all you do to brighten our day.

Thanks for the encouragement and inspiration

Martha, thanks for always making me think, smile, and reflect. You are a real blessing and encouragement to me, keep up the good work:-)

Thank you Martha for your encourage words. Allow us to reflect on how value our time are. To cherish every moment because it is a gift frome GOD.

Thank you dear Matha for this post as it described me to the t..truly it was a touch of His divine encouragement. Love, Catherine

Hello Martha, that was a great idea I think we all would like that wish to come to pass but uuuuuuumm we'll all be waiting. I try to keep as focus as I can until God see the need and somehow it all just kindda fall in place some how. I sure thank you for allowing us to just kindda take a flight out of everyday hussle and wonder how nice it would be thanks and be blessed ! ! !

Are you crazy, Martha?! I remember
LOVING seeing (gleefullY) that yellow
school bus on that first day of school,
after a very long, busy summer of
fun with my daughter and tons of kids!
Bus = Rest...I didn't want an extension
or a 13th month! of course, now this
time of the year, when the season
is changing toward fall, I get
a bit misty eyed thinking of those
summer days I thought would never
end. They did, for good.............Those
summer days were long, but the
years were short. Good memories. Now, the
sight of a yellow school bus on the first
day of school is bittersweet.

Dear Arthur,

You need to take a long, deep breath and let your anger out. It is negative energy like what you've expressed in your message that tarnishes and toxifies the spiritual path.

you are such a spiritual woman. Thank you martha! What i would not give for one more month or one more with family or friends! You are awesome!

MORE GRACE TO YOUR ELBOW.GOD KEEP UOU FOR ALL

I here you I can't imagine what I would do with that extra month but it does sound intresting it seems that others have good ideas on how to use that extra time.Good Luck

Dear Martha,
I couldn't view your video. But I want to inform you that there is already a 13th month here in Ethiopia. It's a 5 (6 once in every four years) day month falling between August and September. We own a typical calendar with 13 months in a year. We are only 3 days away from the 13th month today.

Regards,

Endalkachew
Ethiopia

Martha,

After reading your wish for one more month, I felt your visitors might enjoy the words
from a framed print that hangs on a wall in my home office.

"On The 32nd Day of The 13th Month, on The 8th Day of The Week,
At The 61st Minute of The 25th Hour, You'll Find Everything You Seek."

God Bless

I believe the Honorable Senator Mike Mansfield of Montana, when leader of the U.S. Senate, suggested a 13 month calendar.
It may have been 4 weeks a month, with 7 days a week.
The 13 month was suggested as Sol.

A balanced calendar would make good sense today, but that will not change how we enslave ourselves to a primitive economic system, Capitalism. In this system we are slaves to 'things' and over priced 'everything'.
When the national economy is measured in the valued production of 'things' over the importance of life itself, no calendar manipulation will change values.
Our national output would shine as "the human national potential".

A nation that has been at war since the close of WWII can not spend its resources on what is valuable, the Spiritual development of each individual in the Republic.

To change a calendar, we must change our internal value system. We must learn to nurture the potential of each Child of the Divine.

If we would adopt the old concept of one day a week of from work to celebrate the Divine in our lives, celebrate life in all its forms, lay back and stop for a day, we would find that place within ourselves that is our unknown truth.

Find the work of Love first (not theology).

what a great idea,an extra half month.time does go by so fast.the older we get,the faster it goes.once 4th of july gets here.summer just flies by.winter always seemed longer.i would spend more time reading.thanks martha for sharing again.god bleess you.

If I had an extra month I would spend it outdoors admiring God's nature. Watching the sun rise and set, watch the moon and the stars. Tell my family and friends how much I appreciate them and love them. Friends are like Angels sent by God to guide us to do His will. Listen to the chorus of all the birds and watch animals in nature. And the famous quote "take time to smell the roses". I think too many people don't realize the beauty in nature that God has given us to enjoy. Growing up on a farm has helped me see nature's treasures at an early age and take pleasure in it.

Hello everyone,

Time is a funny thing- it seems like there is plenty of it but yet it slips by, moment by moment, until we realize it has gone, and has gone by much too quickly. The key is the moment by moment, we don't perceive it going by because it goes so slowly.

One suggestion (which I try to do myself) is to make "New Year's" resolutions often, usually at the beginning of each month or each season. I remember back to the major resolutions I made last December/January, and check to see how well I am doing at keeping them. If I'm doing great, I rejoice! If I'm not doing so well, I readjust the resolution so that it will become more attainable. If things have come up in the meantime which need attention, I may add that to the mix. If there are things which are no longer appropriate or necessary, I shelve those resolutions. Having some of these goals listed on my daily/ weekly/ monthly "To Do" list is helpful to keep them in the front of my mind.

Overall, I try to look at my goals and what other things would be good to accomplish. First, one must determine that it is a worthwhile goal, one which is worthy of the time you will be putting into it. How important is it to you? Must you make detailed scrapbook entries for each and every photo, or will putting photos onto a CD be enough for you, or somewhere in between? Is it more important to gather photos for the whole family, or organize for each individual person, or perhaps by events such as holidays or vacations?

Then one must determine what the time frame should be. For example, putting photos into albums may be a great goal, but if one has 6 kids under 5 yrs old, it might be a lot easier to wait until a different period of life to try to accomplish that goal, such as after the kids are starting school.

Third, one needs to think of the practical ways in which to accomplish the goal. Rather than, "I'm going to organize my photos," one might give more specific goals, such as, "I will work 2 hrs every other Saturday, putting photos which are saved on my computer into events folders, and burn one of the folders onto a CD." If it is not planned, it will not happen. For those who do the traditional photos- Figure out how you can do something to accomplish your goal a little at a time. One doesn't usually sit down for a month-long marathon photo album creation session. It usually happens by putting one set of photos into an album or memory box, perhaps on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Or as a family project, maybe everyone can make a scrapbook page or two to add to the family album. Or it might happen as a result of gathering photos for a wedding or graduation.

Last, I would encourage everyone by remembering the words from a James Taylor song- "The Secret of Life is enjoying the passage of time." Enjoy what you have, appreciate things that are here for only a short time.

Best wishes to all.

J :-)

No matter what you do life just goes so fast. To think that we would have another half month I just don't know that would do it or not as long as that half month has an extra Wednesday would work because my husband would have another payday and that would be great.

I believe if we paid attention the ancients who followed the natural cycles, we do have thirteen moon cycles which means we probably have thirteen months..somewhere or another...we got off our natural rythym and time has been distorted since. the cosmos have the answer if we pay attention we will be guided to our natural rythyms....13 is a very important number....Jesus had 12 apostles, including himself that makes 13. Take off your shoes get close to the Earth rythym and feel the pulse in your heart, and when was the last time you looked up into the skies and realized you are a part of everything.....look at the expanse and then bring it on home to your inner being and realize we are all one and time is just an illusion.....fully,deeply live in that moment in your heart and all answers will become self apparent. Just be present in the moment and all things will be added unto you. The truth shall set you free!! GOD BLESS.

I like the idea of both the 13th month and the extra day Zero. Our calendar however is not one of God's Choosing. Based on bible readings it never really states how long a month is. It does mention the 12 day of the 6th month for example, but never really says how long the months are. At least from what I have read to this point. We all need to stay strong in the Faith, and not let the corp. guru's or politics get in the way. My belief is the devil is getting stronger by the day as we struggle through the current turbulent times our planet is in. God bless & Keep us all safe. Our time here is short as we wait for our impending journey to our new awaited homes.

Martha, it might be hard to carve out a whole thirteenth month. I have always thought a day zero between December and January one would make sense and the calendar plan is not God's plan, but ours! I disagree with Arthur - But I applaud his willingness to step up and state his thoughts. That's what it is all about - each of us giving to the other, a part of the Divine in our connections.

Martha,

It is so true! I just finished signing all the paper work of my junior high school son and I wondered where did the time go.... It seems like the older I become, the more time is flying. I wish there was that extension in summer, as well, but then again we would find time to be unsatisfied and would fight over the length of this extended month... Hahaha, we are never satisfied.

Luckily, we can count on the Lord to guide us, whenever we don't see any connection with time, whatsoever! He is there at all times and does helps us through all changes, good, bad, warm, cold, spring, winter, summer, fall, He is always there! I thank Him for that!!!

Thanks so much Martha, for the pleasant insides. I thank God that He blessed us with you!

Oh what a great idea ..extra time. I guess both, man and women can realte to this. My dear brother in Christ Arthur, men are such a wondeful blessing, be happy because you are here only for a brief time.. take life with a grain of salt :) Viva the men!!!!....Your sister in Christ, Maria

As my mom tells me all the time, "If you can't say something nice, do not say anything at all.
I thought it was a nice story and I have a bunch of things to finish this year.
God bless you Martha and keep up the Great Work!
William Garvey

The direction that the last two posts have taken seems like you have CAVED IN to corporate changes on this site.

You are remarking about silly, gender-specific, non-spiritual topics. WHY are the subjects suddenly, overtly, NOT of a spiritual nature and NOT meant for BOTH men and women?

In today's video, you speak of writing a woman back who sent another women pictures of the other woman's children, and the need for an extra month.

You have drifted off course. Readership by men of faith is going to drop off.

I am NOT asking for you to start writing gender-specific MALE topics, either.

Stick to the spiritual feeds and disregard the corporate big wigs. Rumor has it, forces of darkness have infiltrated Beliefnet. They were recently bought out. NO KIDDING.

Anything to keep the GOOD NEWS away from the masses!

If I had just one more month, I'd draw another picture. I'd write another poem. I'd smile a little more and worry a lot less. And maybe, just maybe, I would come to remember that the days ahead will be as sheltered in His arms as every day past for all eternity.

Thank you, Martha, for sharing a bit of your time with us.
