Your post is really interesting but I enjoyed reading comments on your post more than your post. It's really fun reading it.

I agree with Mary. I usually don't wear makeup either. Beauty is more than what we put on the face and body. It comes with a smile on the face and comes from within.

You always look good, neately dressed and usually a smile on your face-I don't respond often and I guess I should because I really enjoy your stories and advice. I noticed that there is a piano in the background-do you play? Also, I see good choices in furniture. Happy Haloween. God bless you for all your efforts and I hope you have a great award waiting for you in heaven some day.

My mother brought me up to the tune of "pretty is as pretty does". A smile on your face is God's perfect face lift, and I try to keep one there at all times. It's a miracle what it does to the wrinkles that plague us as we age. Makeup is something I put on, but not to hide behind. It makes me feel dressed and ready to meet the world with my smile.

What an eyeopener and good for that 16 year old showing you that. Lately in the news there have been so many things coming out about the way they distort body and it is a wonder why young girls and boys as well as adults as so concerned about our looks... Just recently I was watching a show in the am and a model who worked for a company well known got fired b/c she was a size 4 at almost 6 feet tall and that was after they had totally disatorted her image on the front cover her head looked like it did not fit her body. It is a same that society has become this way. That a size 4 on a 5"11 model is considered to be FAT!!! and can't fit in the tiny size 4 they make today. It is totally distrubing to me especially where I have fought my demons with eating disorders..

Thank You Martha for showing this and God Bless you and all of your faithful bloogers, I wish there was more we could do to help these models realize that they are beautiful inside and God made them that way and make these people who exploite them to realize that as well!!!

~~~~~~~ It's not unscriptural for a woman
to want to be attractive. Today, however
to what degree should women take this advice
about fixing their hair, wearing jewelry or
wearing stylish clothes?
Paul, in the Bible, was not prohibiting these things;
he was simply saying that women should not be drawing
attention to themselves through these things. Modesty
and decency are the key words.
All women would do well to remember that beauty begins
on the inside. A gentle, modest, loving character gives
a light to the face that cannot be duplicated by even the
best cosmetics. A carefully groomed and well-decorated
exterior is artificial and cold unless inner beauty is
present.
The general rule for both women and men emphasizes that
both behavior and dress must express submission to and
resepct for Jesus Christ. THAT is beauty.
Im a 61 yr old widow who STILL cares about my appearance. No, not to do anything DRASTIC like Botox or plasic surgery, but just something to "erase" the lines around my mouth that give away my age. Actually, I consider myself to be above-average in the looks department, but isn't it too bad that most women (and girls) think themselves to be BELOW average? The second video really got to me; with all the glossy ads of too-thin models and actresses, what message does this give the already-beautiful "tween" about her OWN looks? I wash my face with just water, and even leave my make-up on overnight. I have no blemishes or age spots; I guess you could consider me "lucky." I have a boyfriend who NEVER comments on my appearance. Perhaps it's time to turn HIM in for a younger model??!!
What great examples of the shallow empty shells the beauty industry tries to sell to us of the female persuasion. When my daughter was growing up we always told her it's nice to be pretty if that's how you're born, but what will stay with you forever is character, honesty, kindness, reverence and intelligence. None of those fade with time, unlike beauty. The smartest decision I made with her was helping her find a sport she was passionate about -- equestrian competition. It took focus away from the "me me me" attitude and diverted it to her horse. It kept her busy every single day throughout her school years. An added bonus: the "horsey" set at her school disdained makeup, dresses, the latest fashions, hanging out at the mall, drugs and alcohol -- well, you get the picture. I'll never forget one time a girl was riding and another one stopped her and asked the first if she was wearing makeup. The culprit -- busted -- said she wasn't, but the older girl said, "Yes you are, I can see it. Shame on you!" and told the first girl she looked silly and should wash it off. Yay! I wish all daughters could have such experiences -- reverse peer pressure!
This makes me think of the song by Johnnie Diaz, 'More Beautiful You'...and it speaks to what our society is pushing in its values. I think there is hope in that women are not afraid to stand up for themselves, and speak to the values and truths placed in front of us. A lone voice can go along way-and thank goodness for a loud voice at that, such as this video by Dove.
I am so glad some one did this..I am 54 dont werar makeup and people like me and think I am sweet the way I am. People hide their true selves behind makeup, plstic surgery instead of looking in the mirror and seeing the REAL person they really are..
Good for those young people, age is just a number, make up is just a cover up.
God Bless
Mary Hicks
I love this and I am pasing it on. Thanks.
