Im very impressed! Ive worked for 15 years with memory care.Its a family disease,and very frustrating to deal with if your not informed of the whys and hows. Life Skills ia also a key element if they dont remember how to brush hair or teeth try a hand over hand motion that helps fire up those brain cells. PATIENCE is another when your running short take five, also take care of yourself! God Bless Maliss
My motherinlaw had Alzheimer's and I cared for her until she had to go into a home. The thing that hurt her the most is she forgot how to knit and crochet which she had done since she was a child also when she tried to write a letter it didn't make sense. She got so frustrated and very quickly went downhill. She died when she was 87 and by that time she didn't recocognize me.
When I went to visit her, a light would come on in her eyes,even though she couldn't speak properly.
Her sister and brother died of the disease as well.
I wonder why mom's knitting didn't help keep the disease at bay?
Oh, and could she cook! She was Swedish so I still use her recipes.
Thanks Martha, I enjoyed this segment! Karin from BC Canada
This is why my mother never developed this horrible problem because she was gold and did so many things for people that she didn't even know.
The thing is there are so many of people that have this horrible problem live in resthomes all over the United States that wait to die that is so sad and I worked in a couple of them when I was very young and they were so sad and needed someone to care.
Interesting!
It is privileged to introduce Doctor to us. His ideology makes sense doing good things we all can contribute.
Once again thank very much.
Dr. Sabri
What a wonderful program! I wish I had known about these kinds of activities before my grandfather passed away. So many things you said make sense. Like doing kind deeds, in particular, would have helped him and us greatly. Thank you for introducing the doctor to us.
~~~~~~~ Contrary to what Arnold
claims on his site, mybraintuneup.com,
he is not the "pioneer" of the
Bradley Method for childbirth.
This method of giving birth was researched
in the 1950's and 1960's by Dr. Robert. A. Bradley.
Dr. Bradley pioneered this radical concept
of "husband-coached childbirth." That might
explain why Dr. Bradley's surname is affixed
to this method? Dr. Bradley introduced the use
of the Bradley Method in 1970. Not Arnold, as
he flagrantly and erroneously wants to claim.
Good grief, Martha! Measure twice, cut once.
Glad this mini-series of 6 infomercials is at
completion.
My beloved Mother suffered from Alzheimer's for six years. She showed some signs a couple of years before that, but I was too slow to recognize it. This was in 1986, when my dear husband and I moved her into our homes. We went through 3 moves with her, which I'm sure confused her even more. But what I'm trying to say is: my Mother's "helpfulness" was in "taking care" of me, her only daughter. She did it in so many ways for the four years she lived with us. I did try to take her to a Senior Center, and she did go once - saying, "I don't want to be with all those OLD people." But she made a beautiful Christmas hanging for the tree, which I still treasure. It was in 1989 that she became too unruly to keep at home, and I reluctantly put her in a nursing home. Because she was "private pay," she was allowed to have her beloved Chihuahua live with her (the nurses fed her and walked her). I'm absolutely SURE that's what kept her alive for two more years. Her mind was gone on September 1, 1981, and, although I had a DNR on her, her magnificent body held on until September 30. I KNOW God was with her to the end, and I am glad for the four years she did live with us.
Helping someone else is ALWAYS helping ourself. There are, to God, no "seeming" others. We share a Spirit and immortal
Soul with everyone! Dr.Bresky is a love and we appreciate your sharing your talks with him! WHOSE ARMS ARE ALWAYS
AROUND US? I'd say the beloved JESHUA's. We've also called Him Jesus. HIS SUBLIME CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE FATHER'S ETERNAL
LOVE is always ours. And, Martha, I still try to watch "TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL" every evening. It's on the Hallmark Channel.
