Thumbnail image for IMG_0865.jpgWelcome to my blog’s new home. I am so excited that Beliefnet asked me to join them. It is quite an honor to be here, and I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey.

There is a story behind the name of this blog. One of my friends in San Diego was a crusty old man with an incredibly beautiful spirit. He had retired from the Navy and lived in his van. Whenever he’d say goodbye, he’d smile broadly and say, “Angels on your shoulders!” At the time, I thought it was cute, but I certainly never expected to have a blog or to write a book about angels.

I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to help people connect with all the wonderful celestial beings and angels that surround us. I have found that they are so willing to help; all we have to do is ask. We have free will, so they will never intrude, but as soon as we open up to their assistance, they are there for us.

Anyone familiar with my work knows that I am very concrete and practical. Angels can be presented in an airy, fairy way or we can learn to make them an integral part of our lives–using them to help us feel loved and safe enough to risk opening our hearts and our minds to the limitless possibilities life holds.

Writing a book on angels wasn’t particularly on my list of “to-dos,” but when my agent asked me if I would be interested in writing an encyclopedia about angels, saints, and deities, I answered with a resounding YES. Writing the book was such an incredible gift. Based on all the e-mails and comments I have received from readers like you over the past two years, the book and my blog has touched the lives of so many people. I feel like a messenger delivering a reminder that anything is possible, and that hope, joy, love, laughter, magic and miracles can become the basis of our everyday lives.

Recently, I was watching a video by Martha Williamson called “No Accidents” that reminded me, once again, how divinely guided life can be. The more we get out of the way, the more magical life becomes. Writing a book on angels has changed my life, and I am sure being asked to write this blog will send another tidal wave of ripples through my life and the lives of my readers as well.

I invite you to submit your questions and comments. I’d like to see this blog become a resource that will help you feel loved, safe, nurtured, and help you create a life beyond your wildest dreams.  So, if you any questions or topics you’d like to have me write about, please post them in the comments box. I look forward to getting to know you and sharing the love, light, and laughter angels always bring with them.

Remember, as G.K. Chesterton said “angels can fly because they take themselves lightly,” and there are always “Angels on your shoulder!” Just open your mind and your heart to them and magic and miracles will occur.

And once again, thank you Beliefnet for my wonderful, new home! And I send you lots of aloha and tropical breezes from the beautiful island of Hawaii.

With love and aloha,
Susan
