Fearless Fridays

Thursday June 25, 2009

Aloha everyone,

bigface.jpg

Sometimes fear can get a bad reputation and we begin to think it is a bad thing. Granted, choices made based on fear often lead to results we aren't wild about, but fear in and of itself is neither good nor bad. It is just fear, and as I suggested in an earlier post, it can cause us to forget everything and run.

I find it helps to remember that there is fear-based fear and love-based fear just as there is fear-based love and love-based love. When we avoid being hit by a car by moving out of its path, that is love-based fear. However, when we avoid intimacy or don't allow ourselves to be surrounded by fear because we are afraid of being hurt, that is an example of fear-based fear.

Fear often stops us from being loving and experiencing love. Being fearless allows us to love in a much less conditional manner. Just for today, or at least for a short while, notice your fear. Play with your fear rather than being overwhelmed  by it. Remember fear causes us to forget the truth, that we are all one with god and that the only thing that is real is love, everything else is an illusion.

With love and aloha,
Susan

About the Art

About Pele
Pele is the Hawaiian goddess of the volcano as well as the goddess of transformation, passion, vitality and creation. Pele is a powerful force on the Hawaiian islands. Shortly after I moved to Hawaii, a friend suggested I have my property blessed. I asked Pele if I could live and work on her land. She graciously agreed, so I always take time to thank her and ask for her blessing in my endeavors.
