Acts of compassion: Amma the hugging saint

Thursday November 19, 2009

Aloha,

amma.jpg

This week two of my themes have been compassion and acts of kindness. Recently I was introduced to Amma the hugging saint. I was deeply moved by the love she shows. She will spend up to 22 hours a day hugging and blessing people an amazing act in and of itself.

In her own words, " As a child, I always wanted to know the cause of misery of mankind and thought that if sorrow is a truth, then there must be a cause and a way out.

" I realize my purpose is to console - to personally wipe away tears through selfless love, compassion, and service."

Here is a beautiful photo gallery with some of her quotes.

She is such a wonderful example of love in action. I would highly recommend watching the beginning of this video. Watching her bless and hug people deeply moved me, the rest of the video is about some of her charities.

Once again I invite you to do at least two random acts of kindness this week.

With love and aloha,
Susan

When all the thought waves subside in your mind ( which is not as easy as we say !) that person becomes embodiment of peace and every cell in their body vibrates with divine love and energy. We can experiance this if atleast once be in Amma's presence.Only the lucky ones get there.Other's waste their chances arguing, speculating or by their own mis-conceptions.It's a pity,I'll say, that when a mahatma is living most people don't get to them and when they pass away, physically, people start building churches, mosques and temples and pray ! how wonderful is this !!! But it's not their fault to some extend, because now a days everywhere u can see spiritual leaders mushrooming around, so doubt is obvious. But i should say , can't u just visit once and see to it and then speak around. If u cannot come and see for urself what right is one having to speak of somebody else ? Clearly,When the need arises there comes a mahatma to you... All you need is to open up a bit.A tiny bit...

About Pele
Pele is the Hawaiian goddess of the volcano as well as the goddess of transformation, passion, vitality and creation. Pele is a powerful force on the Hawaiian islands. Shortly after I moved to Hawaii, a friend suggested I have my property blessed. I asked Pele if I could live and work on her land. She graciously agreed, so I always take time to thank her and ask for her blessing in my endeavors.
