Fearless Fridays: following your bliss

Friday November 6, 2009

Aloha,

Fear stops us from following our bliss.  Actually, fear stops us from doing a lot of things that bring us happiness and joy. Fear can be overwhelming, but here are some simple things you can do to free yourself from fear's relentless grip.

A few simple things to overcome fear:

The first step is to realize that fear is generated by our thoughts; it isn't an actual physical presence. It is created by our mind and, in a sense, we can see it as a figment of our imagination. When we view it that way, we are no longer controlled by it.  Instead, we realize we are in control of it. Fear certainly feels real, and the more we focus on it as our own creation, the less power it has over us.

Next, remember you are never alone. You are always surrounded by the loving, supportive presence of angels. Angels are certainly more powerful than our thought-induced fears!

Take time to open your heart and focus your attention on being grateful. Allow yourself to be grateful for your fears as well. Focus on feeling grateful for your bliss. Focus on things that bring you joy, and be grateful for their presence in your life even if they aren't there just yet.

Pray and meditate to deepen your connection with your spirit. When we are willing to open up to our connection with the divine, we can learn to live in a state of grace where we see the magic and miracle in all of life. When we are focusing on the wonder of life, fear is no longer an issue.

Meditation will really help you overcome fear, so on Monday, I will write a post about how to meditate. I will also share ways you can use meditation to connect with angels and create your bliss.

Have a great weekend, and keep reminding yourself that fear is just a figment of your imagination!

Hi Susan,
Thanks for the great post.
I was reading scripture this morning and wrote down this verse that complements your recommendations:"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts our fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and he who fears is not perfected in love." 1 John 4 This aligns beautifully with "connecting to spirit".
Keep up the good work.

Bob

About Pele
Pele is the Hawaiian goddess of the volcano as well as the goddess of transformation, passion, vitality and creation. Pele is a powerful force on the Hawaiian islands. Shortly after I moved to Hawaii, a friend suggested I have my property blessed. I asked Pele if I could live and work on her land. She graciously agreed, so I always take time to thank her and ask for her blessing in my endeavors.
