Fearless Fridays: what’s your greatest fear?

posted by Susan Gregg | 11:25am Friday November 20, 2009

Aloha,

I was quite amazed when I was doing research about the top ten fears. They were: long words (that being first really amazed me), flying, clowns, heights, death, being alone, the dark, public speaking, commitment and intimacy. Of course, no matter what the fear, imagining an angel holding your hand and walking you through it is the best way I know to overcome any and all fears.

But when fear has just coming roaring up to the surface and grabbed you by the throat remembering that angels even exist is often the challenge. I would love to hear how you overcome fear in your own life. I’ll share some of my favorite ways of reconnecting with inner peace, love and the remembrance that I am always surrounded by love and am safe no matter what is happening.

There are lots of little ways to remember. One of my favorite is pictures. I have lots of pictures around my home that remind me just how wonderful life is. Years ago I made collages of pictures that gave me hope and helped me maintain my spiritual focus. I also had a stack of index cards filled with inspirational quotes, whenever I was afraid or felt off balance I would read them until my sense of connection returned.

Believe it or not a mirror can really be a wonderful tool for overcoming fear. Simply take a moment to connect with yourself in the mirror, look deeply into your eyes and remind yourself you are loved by a whole host of celestial beings.

You can always take a look at this photo gallery on 7 ways of overcoming fear. There are lots of wonderful tools on this web site that will help you feel better and live the life of your dreams. I look forward to your posts and reading about your ideas for overcoming fear.

The Burning Question
I love Danielle LaPorte. mentor. I have long believed the quality of life is dependent upon the questions we ask ourselves. Danielle just started this idea of a Burning Questions. She asks one, answers it and then asks others to answer as well. I going to play and I hope you will answer the quest

Fearless Friday: a brand new day
Every morning we get a brand new day. What are you going to fill it with? It is so simple, yet we make it so hard. Each thought is a choice. Sure they seem to come from no where at times. The first thoughts is a freebie but we can always choose to follow that thought, nurture it, believe it and e

I live with fear everyday. I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak after recieving the devasting blow 15 year ago when my son was diagnosed with epilepsy and developmental disorder. You see, our lifes were not immune to tradjedy. It’s been hard to overcome that feeling of dread that it can happen again. When I panic and feel fearful, I always turn to prayer. I pray to the Father, to Jesus and Mary. I follow up with a prayer to the angels. Afterwards, I feel peace settle over me. My life and my family’s lifes are in their hands.

Aloha Barb,
I am sorry you have lived with such dread for all these years. A friend of mine felt the same way and in her indomitable spirit one day she got up, grab a shoe, threw it loudly on the floor, wept and then opened her heart to all the gifts life has to offer.
Enjoy each and every moment with your friends and your family, life is after all only a temporary condition. I will put you and your family in my prayers.
With love and aloha,
Susan

When we consider ourselves being fearful,we will ask in prayer that God will send the strongest person to be with us,teach us not to be fearful, teach us the ways how to face our problems with courage and
strength. When we hear that strong person talking directly to us,then we should get thoughts and inspiration from that person because we all hear how he became strong through the odds he’s gone through. However, when there’s no one there for us,we draw our strength
from Christ, and in Christ alone we place our trust, our hopes and our love,IN CHRIST ALONE.

Sadly, many underprivileged and/or underperforming youngsters fail to heed this message, one that exhorts them never to under-achieve just because everyone around them expect them to do so or look down on them. It urges them to do the best they can , and by doing so, they help others in their position do the same.
