Hanukkah and Our Lady of Guadalupe

Today is the first day of Hanukkah, the festival of lights. Here is a wonderful photo gallery that will help you apply the wonder, power and magic of this time to your own life. As the days grow shorter here in the Northern Hemisphere our bodies seem to want to curl up in a ball and hibernate. Most of the major religions and earth based spiritual traditions see this as a time of rededication and new beginnings.

IMG_1188.jpgToday is also the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. According to Catholic tradition, a brown-skinned apparition of Mary
appeared on a hill near Mexico City to an Aztec peasant named Juan
Diego in 1531.

When Diego reported this to a Spanish bishop he didn’t believe him and asked him to return for proof. Reluctantly Diego went back and was directed
by Mary to gather fresh roses nearby to show to the bishop.
The bishop, upon seeing fresh roses out-of-season, believed Diego’s
story. When Diego dropped the roses in front of the bishop, an
image of Mary miraculously appeared on his peasants cloak, or tilma which is still displayed in Mexico City.

When I visited her cathedral in Mexico City I took this picture of Juan Diego’s jacket.

Here is part the entry from my book The Encyclopedia of Angels:

Our Lady of Guadalupe is well known for her miracles. Her image on Juan’s jacket is the only physical manifestation of the Virgin Mary. She is a powerful force of love and teaches about the power of faith, hope and charity. Lady of Guadalupe is the embodiment of divine love. She is the divine mother that cares deeply for all of her children. She will never judge you and is always ready to help. Lady of Guadalupe is a compassionate guide that will teach you how to fill your life with laughter and joy.

Invocation:

Lady of Guadalupe is more than willing to help you. Just open your heart and call her name. Light a candle and ask her for her assistance. Pour out your heart to her and listen for her guidance. She will embrace you with her love. When you share that love it comes back to you multiplied.

Lady of Guadalupe will help you:

Conceive a child
Heal a broken heart
Strengthen your relationship
Find the love of your life

What a wonderful day to light a candle and give thanks for the gift of another day on this beautiful planet!

With love and aloha,
Susan

Thoughts on the Boston Bombing
Ever wondered why people chose to hurt one another? I have pondered that question over the years. As a child I was profoundly distressed by violence and what I perceived as cruelty. I often get e mails from people asking me the same thing.  I have come to the conclusion that we can only hurt

What is an angel?
I get that question a lot. The best answer I have is they are pure, expansive unconditional love. They embrace us always. They surround us with their love and I've been told that unless we ask they won't interfere in our lives. I guess that is true except my life has been saved more than once by som

Dear Susan,
That was such an awe inspiring story. I never knew about Lady of Guadalupe. Now that I do I will be able to pray to one more angel for faith, hope and love. I will also be able to pray to for healing of my mind and soul,to strengthen my relationship with my son’s even though it is already full of strength but a little more wouldn’t hurt also with my friends and family.
I have made it my mission to finish all of my unfinished business before God comes and leads me home and that is one part of my mission to strengthen my relationships. Family and friends mean so much to me at this time of especially during the holidays because we all come together and pray for each other and to help each other more than we do through out the rest of the year. Why is that? Why do we feel so much joy and love through the holidays more than we do through out the year? Why can’t we feel that way all year long?
Take care, be safe, and may your Angels and God bless you forever…..Jennifer

Aloha Jennifer,
I love Guadalupe Mary as I call her. It is an amazing story and getting to see the jacket was incredible. We can keep the holiday spirit alive all year if we want.
With love and aloha,
Susan
