The Burning Question
I love Danielle LaPorte. mentor. I have long believed the quality of life is dependent upon the questions we ask ourselves. Danielle just started this idea of a Burning Questions. She asks one, answers it and then asks others to answer as well. I going to play and I hope you will answer the quest

Fearless Friday: a brand new day
Every morning we get a brand new day. What are you going to fill it with? It is so simple, yet we make it so hard. Each thought is a choice. Sure they seem to come from no where at times. The first thoughts is a freebie but we can always choose to follow that thought, nurture it, believe it and e

I have been sending out calendars that contain my Maine photos to friends and aquaintances that are dealing with difficult times. I really can’t afford to be spending the money in these tight economic times, but I figure I’ll just cut down on groceries and household items for the time being. The people I send the calendars to can really use a pick-me-up and have received them with gratitude.
I also took my neighbor’s daughter senior yearbook photo because she could not afford a photographer. I get warm fuzzies when I see the pics on my screensaver knowing I did something unselfish for a neighbor I just met.
I always pick up trash, dog bombs, etc in our local park, hold the door open for people, smile and say “please” and “thankyou.”

My father is in dialysis and the other day one of the other dialyisis patients was finished and was waiting in his wheelchair for the hospital volunteer to come to bring him up to the foyer so that he could wait for his ride. Time passed and I noticed that he was getting anxious so I offered to wheel him up myself – he was surprised but happy at the same time. We chatted all the way and he was in a much better frame of mind when I left.

I comforted a cat that had just been picked up from 2 days of boarding at the Vet’s and moved to a new home. She was confused and crying loudly. Her name is Miss Tanzi – short for Tazmanian Devil. She is beautiful and full of personality. Also the friendliest and cuddlyest cat I have ever known. She knows how to get her needs met. Not my cat but I love her.

I have been letting one of my son’s best friend stay with us for about a week now. He is a very good friend to my son Mike and he had a fight with his parents and they kicked him out of their house. I have been doing everything I possibly can to help them get over this fight so he can go back home to his parents. I know that they are all very stubborn and can get in each other’s space which starts a fight and he ends up out of the house for awhile so I always take him in. He has helped me with my son who is bipolar for many years now. He has actually made it easier for me and Mike to actually talk about what is bothering him when he has a low time. It has brought us closer then anyone can imagine after what we have been through for the last 11 years. You see I’m very sick with brain aneurysm’s and cancer and I think it pushed my son over the limit and Matt has been very kind in helping us get back on track so we don’t fight all the time. I know God sent Matt to both of us and so when he is fighting with his parents I take him until the all cool down. The longest he has stayed with us was about 3 months and everyday I would have his parents over and the 5 of us sit down and brain storm on how to get him back with his family and it always works out. They just need a little help communicating like me and Mike do so our acts of kindness actually benifit us all. My other son Tom also helps in both of our families problems and so does Matt’s brother. We always end up one big happy family because that is really what we are a family and you can never ever not help family when it is needed. We feel if you can help family than you can help just about anyone who need’s help. Matt will be going back home tomorrow to be with his family and we will all meet for a big family and friends holiday gathering and just give thanks for letting us all be here for another day and another holiday together. I cherish all my family and friends since I have been cheating death for the last 11 years and I just want them all to know how very much I love each and everyone of them through good times and through the bad times.
So God bless you Susan for the acts of kindness you bring into so many peoples lives with the work you do here on Beliefnet and through your books. You are really a angel here on earth……Jennifer

I have a very small business doing healing treatments and I make homemade healing sprays with essential oils. I even have a spray called Angel Blessings with frankincense, myrhh and other oils. I used to sell them at boutiques but in these rough economic times customers having been picking up my card at the stores and contacting me so they can buy directly from me. This saves everyone a little money. A woman called the other day wanting some Thieves Spray to help her stay well during the flu season and winter, she mentioned she had COPD so I also told her about my Breathe Deeply spray, as it helps me with my asthma. She mentioned she needed the grief formula spray, as she gets down during the holiday season ever since her special needs grand-daugther passed away a couple of years ago. She mentioned in a few days she would have $50, enough for the 3 bottles of thieves she wanted, and the other two. I was led to give her the grief spray for free, as a holiday gift but mainly in honor and memory of her grand-daughter. I told her she could smell and use the breathing spray first and decide whether or not she likes it before purchasing it. I try to treat people and customers the way I would like to be treated. Sometimes what seems like a little teeny thing to you means the whole world to someone else.

I just wanted to say thank you. I try really hard to visit this site every day to lift my spirit. I have been having problems breathing deeply lately and I kept getting it might be asthma. I finally gave in and decided to make a Dr’s appointment because my son ( who is special needs was worried about my breating). I was worried what if it was something bad so as I walked my little dog today I asked the angels to give me a sign as to why I was having problems breathing deeply. I asked that it be clear and personal. Then I read Kathy’s message. It hit a few marks that hit home. I have been thinking of having a small home business, I just cleansed my home with Frankinsense and Myr. I want to breath deeply and she has Asthma. I will take this as my answer and if the Dr. confirms I will post it. But at least for now I don’t feel nervous about going. Thanks and Blessed Be all.

I was at the supermarket on Sunday with mt grandaughter, cashing in some cans. As I was walking towards the can machine, I noticed a store clerk sitting on a pile of boxes muttering to himself. I had seen him in the store before so I asked him if he was alright. He answered, ” I,m just tired of being broke” I nodded and did not know what to say. I just patted him on the shoulder and walked to the recycle can machine. The cans totaled $5.00. as i was walking back, the fellow was still sitting there. I looked at the can reciept for $5.00 and said no! i can,t give him a reciept, he works in the store. The only other money I had on me was a $20.00 bill. I looked at my grandaughter, she looked at me and smiled, I handed the guy the twenty and he was dumbfounded and said “WHY” ?. I said God bless and left. We all felt so much richer.

Ah! And so my life goes. I see I am not among the first five to leave a comment, so I have missed an opportunity to receive the free book that I had hoped would help me. I am searching for inspiration and guideance, but as only negatives continue to surround me and present themselves to me, I must be allowing them in. ….My mother passed away and for 5 days prior, my sisters and I locked ourselves in her hospital room and sat by her bedside, because she asked us not to leave her….my daughter and family moved in with us while their new house is being built…we gave them the whole top floor so the kids would be comfortable, my husband and I are in the unfinished basement…my husband lost his job 5 months ago and I have not yet accussed him of not being a good provider….I lost my job yesterday and I told my stammering boss not to worry, it’s alright , I understand…but it’s not alright. I do not always do the right thing, but I sure do many…so I am searching.

Hi, Susan -
Whether or not I am one of the first five I want to share my story (one of many) in hopes that others will follow with random acts of kindness. Recently, I visited a discount store, made my purchases and was leaving throught the front doors (no automatic doors here). I saw that an older lady was behind me leaving the checkout with lots of stuff in her cart. I stood and waited for her so I could open the door for her. When she got to me and the door she stated that I did not really mean to open the door for her and it was simply a mistake. I let her know, lovingly, that yes I did wait on her so I could help. She seemed stunned that someone would do that for her. I let her know that there is kindnees all around just waiting to be experienced. She smiled and then said Thank you. It was heartwarming and also sad that someone has become so jaded to this world. Just the small act of opening a door for someone can bring Light and Sunshine into an often dismal world. To all who actually read this post…open a door for someone everyday :)
Peace, Love and Light

The previous posters have really touched my heart. The RAC my husband and I like to perform is to simply pay an extra toll for the person behind us each time we go through a toll, no matter how much the toll might be. One of my daugther’s teachers told a story in class one day about how much it touched her when a man in a red convertible paid her toll one day, much to her shock. My husband drove a red convertible at that time. I can’t be certain he was the one who paid the toll, but I suspect he was and just knowing it touched someone helped us know we need to continue this practice.
