Winter Solstice 2009

posted by Susan Gregg | 12:53pm Tuesday December 22, 2009

To me the Winter Solstice is a time to let go of the past and step fully and completely into the present moment. It is a powerful time of new beginnings and a time to celebrate the year that was and the wonders of the year to come.

In Ireland they built Newgrange where for 14 minutes the sun illuminates the central chamber of this ancient place. Since time before time people would gather on this night in the Northern Hemisphere to celebrate the return of the sun. Solstice is derived from a word that means the sun stands still. All over the world their are massive prehistoric monuments built in alignment with the moment of the solstice.

I invite you to join me for a powerful solstice ceremony.

I love doing ceremony and since I am out in the middle of the
Pacific and most of you aren’t I started doing them over the internet.
Hope you can come on Monday!

Whenever i think of the sun,i am always filled up with hope to see a brighter tomorrow, when its light travelled just to illuminate that place, surely,it will shine and then set and then shine again.

One of the things I find so fascinating about the nature of the sun is that as the light travels through space it’s invisible but as soon as there is an object present the light reflects off of the shape illuminating it.
And there is always a tomorrow that becomes today.
With love and aloha,
Susan
