Angels on Your Shoulder

Angels on Your Shoulder

Extra ordinary angels

posted by Susan Gregg | 12:00am Monday February 8, 2010

I love stories like these about ordinary people taking the time to make a real difference in the world. I have a BIG soft spot for animals and two of these stories are about saving animals from certain death.

The first story is about a cancer survivor named Joe White who reaches out and helps people when others would probably turn and walk away. He used to be a cop but now he patrols Spring Grove Cemetery finding lost souls and fallen limbs to make walking sticks.

He has helped many people who have come to this park like cemetery to commit suicide. He sounds like an incredibly loving and caring man. You can read the whole story here. It is amazing how one person can touch so many lives.

The second story is about 82 year old Dorothy McLean. Her new vision of angels are burly men in firemen suits. Her house caught on fire and she couldn’t get out. Two firemen came through thick black smoke to rescue her. The picture in the story is of her eating lunch at the fire house with her husband. Very heart warming.

There is so much love and kindness in this world. I certainly feel better when I focus on it.

The next two stories are about saving animals. Both are about people acting as foster families or as they are referred to in the story guardian angles for unwanted or abused animals. These people take the time to socialize these animals until they can be adopted by loving families. There are organizations all over the country that have lots of animals that need foster families. Perhaps, if you love animals you might be able to be a foster family too or help support others that are.

Well, here are four stories about everyday people who acted as someone’s guardian angel. It is a gift we can all give to one another.

With love and aloha,
Susan
