I found the fascination with Anne Rice’s announcement that she was leaving Christianity amazing. In her words: “In the name of Christ, I refuse to be anti-gay. I refuse to be
anti-feminist. I refuse to be anti-artificial birth control,” the author
wrote on Wednesday on her Facebook fan page. “I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen.”
What a hoopla her announcement created. There were blog posts, vengeful comments galore and just lots and lots of mostly angry energy sent her way. The pagan blogs rejoiced and wow what attention her statement recieved.
I love the creator and am in love with the divine and the angelic realms. I am not very fond of judgmental people and I try to remain in a place of love and acceptance about all things. I too dislike it when organized religion funnels millions of dollars to campaign against equal rights for gay people. I am appalled when I listen to Christians or Muslims or anyone claiming to be part of a religion berate anyone or anything.
Many organized religions are far from loving and accepting. Some of them even believe only their followers will go to heaven. Geez!! If for a moment they opened their hearts and allowed themselves to see through the eyes of the angels they would never judge anyone or anything again.
I applaud Anne Rice for distancing herself from anti anything. The angels are against anything thyew just love. We could certainly learn a lot from them and the world would be a far different place.
With love and aloha,
Susan

Go Ann. I couldn’t agree more. We don’t need organized religion to love and worship. If anything organized religion has been the reason for millenia of wars, hate and pain.

I understand her feelings! I shudder at the times I must say that I am Christian. I only do so in order to make clear that I have no problem with what Jesus taught. the problem I have is with what the church has done to those teachings! Religion is supposed to be about bringing us closer to God, but the real reason behind it seems to be to keep out those who don’t measure up and to make faith an exclusive club, and I do mean club!
I don’t see other religions doing much better whether they be Jews, Muslim, Pagans or what. They all seem to want to control others.

The times they are a changing… The Universe is asking all of us look inside ourselves and ‘feel’ what is going on. When we choose to live through our hearts judgements will be peeled away and one day we will all stand as one. Kuddo’s to Anne for her brave statements the Angels are applauding.

I enjoyed all of Rice Vampire books and I saw them allegorially and not much different than reading any fiction from a creative mind of an artist taking the given realities of their world and making it in an different version or model. I did not believe they were Satanic as some pronounced and she was then outside of her faith she was raised in for about same reasons she is again giving -or from some more personal encounters where a churched being of laity or cleric had failed to give her something in a great time of need, which it
often does especially now- its the feel good and get rich chuch in most of its sects- also the fanatical mud slinging and trashing of the other whether another of same faith or another does not matter for you have to march in locked step with them on all things in life or you are a traitor or non believer or whatever- so I find it great that she will again take the stand and I read also her books on Jesus and his Christhood- so I do not think she will totally abandon her earliest trainings in the Greatest Story Ever Told- she is merely separatting the sheep and goats and taking her stand against the false teachings and its teachers. She has great courage bless her!
