Fearless Friday: how does fear serve you?

posted by Susan Gregg

How does fear serve you? What does it help you avoid?

Really spend some time thinking about what positive things fear does for you? I used to use fear to say no to lots of things. I wouldn’t say I am too afraid to do this or that but I would use my fear to stop me. In a strange way fear keeps us safe, limited but safe.

I generally talk about overcoming fear so why look at how it serves you? When you look at the world through the eyes of love even fear looks more expansive and has positive attributes. If we try to avoid fear or judge it as bad and wrong we just feed it and it gets bigger and more powerful.

When I say whatever you do DO NOT think about a tomato or fear, even if you weren’t thinking about it before I told you not to you are now.

Writing is such a powerful tool. Give yourself the gift of looking at fear through the eyes of love and see what happens. Write, write and then write some more. You will know when you are really done and your life will expand as the result of you giving yourself that gift.

Fear is really only a shadow stopping us from seeing the love in everything.

Thoughts on the Boston Bombing
Ever wondered why people chose to hurt one another? I have pondered that question over the years. As a child I was profoundly distressed by violence and what I perceived as cruelty. I often get e mails from people asking me the same thing.  I have come to the conclusion that we can only hurt

What is an angel?
I get that question a lot. The best answer I have is they are pure, expansive unconditional love. They embrace us always. They surround us with their love and I've been told that unless we ask they won't interfere in our lives. I guess that is true except my life has been saved more than once by som

Angels are your friends
I get so many e mails asking me how to work with angels. The other day I got a phone call from a woman who had bought my book and wanted to recover some stolen money. As we talked she became more and more disappointed. She seemed to expect the gods to smite this person for what they had done and imm

When I realized everything I was doing or not doing was out of fear, I looked up fear in my King James, memorized II TIM 1:7 I live by that verse it has changed my life!

That is a beautiful quote. And here it is for people not familiar with it.
2 Timothy 1:7 (New International Version)
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
With lots of love,
Susan
