During the holiday season here in Hawaii many of the malls have a Lokahi Tree. Lokahi is an Hawaiian word that means unity, agreement, accord, unison, harmony. I love the Hawaiian language because it reflects the deep spiritually of the culture.
One year I was walking through the mall and saw the tree decorated with angels. On each angel there was a child’s request. I took one and it was for a pair of sneakers. I bought this tiny pair of sneakers in the appropriate size and brought them to the woman at the table. She scolded me with a smile because I was suppose to tell her I took the angel first.
It felt very good to know that a child would have a gift on Christmas day. Abundance is a funny thing. The best time to give freely is when we are in need ourselves. It is by giving that we receive but only when we give with a smile, an open heart and no expectation of return. Many people are in need these days. If you aren’t give and if you are give.
Giving doesn’t necessarily have ot be in the form of money. We can give of ourselves. If you are out of work spend some time each week volunteering. Help others and you’ll feel better art the end of the day. I often get requests from people to send angels and to pray for them. I always do and I often wonder how much time those people spend praying for other people’s happiness and abundance.
One of my mentors once told me, ” When you are all wrapped up in yourself you make a very small package.”If I spend all my time worrying about my problems I push the solution away. When I reach out to others with an open heartit makes an incredible difference in my life.

I would contact your local Salvation Army. They often organize similar gift giving. On Oahu you can contact KHON. They organize the Lokahi tree.

Hi im trying to sign my kids up for the lokahi tree im a single mom i have 3 kids and i lost my job have been working 2 jobs and this would be first year i cant give christmas to them please would to have some help with christmas for my 3 kids thanks so much!! mahalo
