Gratitude lists: another step toward love

Having an attitude of gratitude

One of the most powerful ways to expand our ability to be more loving is to have an attitude of gratitude toward all of life. Gratitude is a very expansive way of looking at life. Judgment leads to fear, anger and sadness. When we ask ourselves how we can see an event and allow it to generate a feeling of gratitude life changes drastically.

Many years ago one of my mentors asked me what I had to be grateful for and at that moment I said nothing. He told me I was in serious trouble and I was.  Without gratitude I couldn’t connect to my spirit, the divine or love. At times like that I have learned just how important it is to change my attitude and focus on love. Here is a wonderful gallery that wish I would have had access to that day.

Gratitude in everyday conversations

For many years I would write a gratitude list before I went to  bed at night. At one point I made it a point to add at least one new item each day. My list became quite extensive. Perhaps during this 40 days to love you could write a list of all the things in life you like, love, enjoy and are grateful for. Make it a point at to share those things during conversations with your coworkers, friends and family. When you feel like complaining be grateful instead.

The Angel of gratitude

Call upon the angel of gratitude, ask for help seeing all of life through her eyes and watch the world become an amazing place of beauty and grace. I love watching people and I have observed that people’s attitudes make a hug difference in the way they age.  People that are grateful and loving seem to have twinkle in their eyes and a ease when they move.

Playing with gratitude will enhance your ability to love and it really will make your life magical. Try it, write a gratitude list and use it as your mantra for the day. Notice how you feel by the end of the day! Here is a teaching story I wrote a while ago that might help you with the process.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. I’d love to hear how you are doing with our 40 day journey!

With love and aloha,
Susan

Thoughts on the Boston Bombing
Ever wondered why people chose to hurt one another? I have pondered that question over the years. As a child I was profoundly distressed by violence and what I perceived as cruelty. I often get e mails from people asking me the same thing.  I have come to the conclusion that we can only hurt

What is an angel?
I get that question a lot. The best answer I have is they are pure, expansive unconditional love. They embrace us always. They surround us with their love and I've been told that unless we ask they won't interfere in our lives. I guess that is true except my life has been saved more than once by som
