Sunday is Valentine's Day. the day of love. I find its history and its evolution very intriguing and will write all about it later this week. Thursday I am also writing a post about 21 ways angels can help you find love. So this will be a love filled week.
Today I thought I'd share a bit about the Roman god of love, Cupid.
Cupid is the Roman god of love and the son of the magnificent goddess ,Venus. At times he is portrayed as a small, blindfolded, winged boy, carrying a bow and arrow. Whoever he shoots with his arrow, is destined to fall in love. Some stories say he was born from a silver or golden egg. Cupid is cute and lovable but he is also mischievous and dangerous. His arrows contain love but they also inflict pain.
How often do you experience fear on a daily basis? Realistically, how can angels help you deal with fear?
I still remember my first day of school. I was so excited about learning and looking forward to having a new adventure. I remember my mom walking me to school, holding my hand. I knew I was safe and walked into that classroom with my head held high. I was so happy about being in school I smiled as my mom left. Most of the other children were crying and I remember the teacher asking me why I wasn't crying too. In hindsight I wasn't crying because I felt safe and viewed school as a big adventure.

I love the gentle flicker of candle light. Even though I wasn't raised Catholic I have always loved going into old churches and Cathedrals to light a candle. Often when I want to pray I will light a candle on my altar first. When someone is going through a tough time and they ask me to pray for them I will light a candle as I say my prayer and then allow the candle to burn out on its own.
Angels are often pictured with a gentle candle like glow around them. When I think of their loving touch in my life I certainly think of the warmth of candles. I find lighting a candle a wonderfu lway to call upon the angels.
Angels are certainly the antithesis of fear. The obvious angels to call upon in times of fear are your guardian angels and the ministering angels but here are seven more that will help fill your heart and your mind with love and alleviate your fears.
ESPN has already fired Paul Shirley and it seems as though he brought the wrath of the multitudes down upon himself. Judgment abounds on both sides. I personally think
his comments and the response to them is a wonderful example of the basic problem we faces as a species.
Here is the part of his blog post that most people are reacting tot:
Dear Haitians -
First of all, kudos on developing the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Your commitment to human rights, infrastructure, and birth control should be applauded.
As we prepare to assist you in this difficult time, a polite
request: If it's possible, could you not re-build your island home in
the image of its predecessor? Could you not resort to the creation of flimsy shanty- and shack-towns? And could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?
Sincerely,
The Rest of the World
This morning while I was responding to some comments I remembered this video and the Free Hug campaign.
Today is World Hug Day. You can make the world a better place by sharing lots of hugs.
Every time we take a breath we are given the gift of life from our spirit. Life is such a miraculous gift and wonderful adventure.
I so often hear this question: "Why do bad things happen to good people? Life is God's unconditional gift to us, the rest is just part of living here on planet earth and are incredible gifts.
I am sure the people of Haiti are surrounded by the loving presence of thousands of angels. I try to love everyone and judge no one but an article on CNN about Pat Robertson comment that the earthquake is punishment from God is testing that resolve .
There are countless studies that show the profound relationship between attitude, spiritual connection and happiness. People that take sometime each day to pray and meditate are even happier.
Years ago a friend of mine gave me a deck of angel cards. They are simple, cartoon like pictures of angels that have words on them like faith, joy, surrender and forgiveness.
When we open the front door at night the light rushes out and dispels the darkness. Love can do the same thing to fear if we let it.
In British Columbia a Golden Retriever named Angel save an 11 year old boy from a cougar attack.
This weekend I watched the movie Angels and Demons. This weekend I watched the movie Angels and Demons.
Fear is an absence of love. We can either focus on faith and love or doubt and fear. So rather than talk about fear on this first day of 2010 and I want to talk about love.
Here are a few articles I found about people that could easily be called angels. I enjoyed reading them so I thought I would share them with you.
My your holiday be blessed with great joy, love, peace and happiness. Here is a video of Bing Crosby singing Mele Kalikimaka.
Merry Christmas! On this Christmas Day 2009 I am forwarding you a letter from God
Angels certainly play a pivotal role in the Christmas story. What would you do if an angel came and talked to you personally? A physical, in the flesh, so to speak, angel talking directly to you? What do you think your reaction would be?
A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. One was love the other two wealth and success.
The holidays in and of themselves create neither joy nor sadness, they are emotionally neutral. The holidays are an event, then we tell ourselves a story about the holidays and then we create our emotional response based on that story.
As the days grow shorter here in the Northern Hemisphere our bodies seem to want to curl up in a ball and hibernate. Most of the major religions and earth based spiritual traditions see this as a time of rededication and new beginnings.
Over the next few weeks I will be writing a series of posts to help put joy back in the holiday season, relieve stress and just help everyone have an angel filled, magical holiday season.
I was thinking about the littlest angel the other day and how I loved that story as a young girl. I remembered listening to Bing Crosby sing it and was filled with a sweet remembrance of childhood Christmases.

I'm very excited. Today I am going to speak about the Divine Inner Child. I am going to try to record the talk and if I succeed I will post an MP3 of my talk.
A promised here is the contest. The first five people that share recent acts of kindness they have committed will get a free, personally autographed copy of my most recent book on Spiritual Healing.
Actually the most effective ways to avoid holiday stress is to change your thinking and the way you feel about life. The best way I have ever found to do that is by committing random acts of kindness.
It is amazing what a difference our perspective makes. Perspective actually influences our lives more than anything else, so learning to expand or change our perspective is an incredibly valuable skill.
I am about to put the finishing touches on my Thanksgiving dinner. When I sit down to eat I will give thanks for all my blessings, the angels in my life and each of you

Recently I was introduced to Amma the hugging saint. I was deeply moved by the love she shows. She will spend up to 22 hours a day hugging and blessing people, an amazing act in and of itself.
This week's theme for me has been love, joy, compassion, prayer and meditation. Today I will share images of people in my groups that share those feelings.
The principle of compassion lies at the heart of all religious, ethical and spiritual traditions. But how can this principle affect your life if you are unemployed, underemployed, having health challenges or just simply afraid? Read on.....
What does the movie, "Men Who Stare at Goats" have to do with working with angels? Let me tell you a story and then you'll see the connection.
In Jewish tradition the word we translate “miracle” is nes. A nes is a sign, like a flag, waiving above a building or a marker, drawing your attention to something special. I thought about the idea of miracles as markers and as I looked at my life I saw a lot of miracles.

My mind is swimming with thoughts today, instead of a gentle trickle it feel more like a flood driven raging river and I have learned over the years that's a good thing.
When I look at the world today what I see is a hunger, a hunger that can only be filled with a deep and profound connection to our spirit. Last night I had an amazing dream in which I was talking to some people about the power of grace.
Chamuel’s name means “He who seeks God.” He is often described as “pure love in a winged form.”
Our minds are a magnificent tool. They were just never meant to be in control. When our spirit is in control, we begin to experience a reality that is free of fear and limitation.
Aloha,I just removed several comments that were, to say the least unkind, racially prejudiced, and downright unacceptable. For some reason, I didn't get a copy of them when they were posted or you can be assured they wouldn't have stayed...

Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt Since I was going to write about how believing in miracles make them much more likely to occur in our lives, this quotes unusual appearance was quite interesting.
The other day I talked about the power and the gift of being of service. Perhaps you could create a 'be an angel exchange' within your own group of friends.
When a child dies or someone is murdered they ask why God let it happen. Personally, I don't believe God causes suffering. God only creates perfection, love, peace and joy.
This morning I wake up dreaming about my father's last few breaths and feeling myself dying, a pretty nightmarish experience. As I woke up I heard the lyrics "Hark the herald angels singing" which was very comforting.

Affirmations are a very powerful way to change both our thinking and the circumstances in our life.
Gratitude has the ability to return us to that childlike nature where we are amazed and excited by all of life and are connected to God in a concrete and constructive manner.
As I watch the dawn I am once again reminded that each day is a new beginning, a story yet to be written and I can write anything I want on the pages that follow. I say a prayer and ask to be guided so that all my thoughts and actions are loving.
When we give without any thought to receiving miracles do occur in our life. That is what angels do all the time.
