Jesus spent 40 days and 40 nights in the desert. In many spiritual traditions a time apart from everyday life is necessary to allow the practitioner to deepen their spiritual connection. In today’s world doing that is often a luxury we can’t afford.
So for the next 40 days I will be sharing exercises, meditations and activities that will allow you to experience a deepening of your connection with the divine.
It all depends on what Christian sect you belong to. Today is Great Lent according to the Eastern Orthodox Church.
Over the years my answer to that has changed drastically. It went from a time of suffering and deprivation to nothing, to a time to go within and deepen my connection with the divine.
Last year I did a series 40 days with the Angels. This year I have decided to do a series 40 days: Finding your own divine connection so tune in tomorrow as we begin this epic heroes journey. Without going into the desert, you can find and deepen your connection to the angelic realms, to God and to your own spirit.

Aine is the goddess of love and fertility. She is also known as the Fairy Queen of Munster. In some myths, she was a mortal woman, when she was tricked into becoming a goddess by a fairy who enchanted her. Aine liked humans and often slept with mortal men which resulted in producing fairy children. Aine was the original Sun goddess and was also considered the Moon goddess.
As the goddess of four powerful energies, Aine is a force to be reckoned with. Midsummer night’s eve is the day she is traditionally worshiped with torchlight processions through the fields. Aine is one of the great goddesses of Ireland. She encourages human love and knows that it is one of the most powerful forces on this planet.
Aine knows all about magic so she is a wonderful goddess to have on your side. She will show you how to create prosperity and abundance in all areas of your life. Aine makes sure all vows are kept. She will help you get rid of unsuitable mates and find loving ones and also help you reveal fairies. Her sacred animals are the hare and the swan. Susan Gregg is the author of eight books including the award-winning "Mastering the Toltec Way" and "The Encyclopedia of Angels, Spirit Guides and Ascended Masters."
