Pagans at the Parliament of the Worlds Religions

I have been so focused on my own work that I failed to pay any attention to the Pagans presence at the Parliament of the World Religions, held in Melbourne, Australia.  My bad.  One of the best pieces of news from this year’s Parliament was that we were not controversial.  We According to Don Frew, who was one of the attendees, we were taken for granted as members just like everyone else.  That is a great step forward for us.
Many Pagans who were there as well as some at home had set up a Pagans at the Parliament blog where issues of importance to us all were and continue to be discussed.  Along with many day to day news pieces, there were some discussions of issues basic to who we are.  I was particularly impressed with T. Thorne Coyle’s meditation on Pagans, the earth, and modernity and I recommend it enthusiastically.

I have been slow in writing this post because I have wanted to do my experience justice.  In late November I crossed the country, stopping off in Lawrence Kansas for Thanksgiving with family before returning to California.  Starting from the east coast, on my way to Kansas I visited friends who ha

A friend of mine well versed in these matters and appreciative of problems on both sides has recommended this analysis as the best she has come across for understanding the issues at stake and why we should care.
