Ted Kennedy was rushed to the hospital last weekend after suffering a seizure in his home, and today his doctors announced that tests had revealed a malignant brain tumor in the left parietal lobe of his brain. As he is one of the most respected elder Democratic statesmen as well as the last giant in a family of political giants, this is a sad day for Democrats and for the political world in general.
Ted Kennedy’s astrology chart shows that his Sun is in Pisces, which is widely known to be the sign of the saint and the drunk because of the urge within the Pisces soul to transcend the dull and ordinary mundane reality and experience something more transcendent. However, Kennedy’s achievement-oriented Capricorn ascendant ensures that he is brought back to reality time and time again.
To complicate matters further, Mars and Mercury in his chart are conjunct in Aquarius – the sign of the visionary and a fervor for social justice and equality, as we have seen during Kennedy’s long years of service. However, the Aquarian tendency towards rational intellect does not integrate well with the Pisces longing for redemption and transcendence, and because his Sun opposes Pisces’ ruler Neptune (a double whammy connecting his Sun to the Pisces archetype) this longing stirs powerfully within him. Kennedy is well known for his long battle with alcoholism and this is not uncommon in the charts of strongly Piscean individuals, especially if they have a hyper-critical Virgo Moon and the relentless pressure of the Capricorn ascendant and first house Saturn which strives for achievement and the fulfillment of one’s destiny.
Kennedy’s seizure occurred at the time of the Full Moon which made a square to the Mars/Mercury Aquarian conjunction in his chart. Mercury in Aquarius does not like to think emotionally, and the Virgo Moon prefers to keep one’s emotions in nice little boxes where everything can be safe. However, the Pisces sensitivity makes it difficult for all of this to play out, and the intense Scorpio drama of the most recent Full Moon occurred in a nearly exact square to this Mars/Mercury conjunction in Aquarius. Seizures in the brain have a great deal to do with Mercury and we can argue that they are Uranian/Aquariuan as well, with sudden shifts in energy.
The fact that Kennedy’s progressed Mercury is conjunct progressed Uranus right now is also interesting, echoing this Mercury/Uranus connection that electrifies the brain and creates an experience that changes everything.
Kennedy is undergoing some difficult transits right now, notably a transit of Saturn over his Pisces Sun which began last fall and occurred for the second time in March, along with a square of transiting Chiron to natal Chiron in Kennedy’s chart. The Chiron square activates the influence of the Wounded Healer to bring any hidden or unresolved wounds into view.
These transits are not always connected to health problems but we can certainly connect them to Kennedy’s chart in a way that makes astrological sense.
Ted Kennedy has made mistakes in his life but has risen above it all to be a dedicated public servant and well-respected politician. I know we will all be sending our prayers and holding him in light as he faces this latest challenge.

Several years ago, there was a lot of talk about CELL PHONES causing Brain Cancer.
What do you think the chances are Ted Kennedy’s Brain Cancer was caused by his using a Cell Phone

I had completely forgotten about Bill Herbst, Joe – thank you for reminding me. I stopped by his website and dropped off a donation. He had a stroke last year. He kindly has posted his chart here: http://www.billherbst.com/bio.html.
Bill has an exact Moon/Uranus square, a conjunction of the Sun and Mercury sitting right on his Scorpio MC, and Mars/Saturn conjunction in Virgo that is squared by Chiron. I would read this to show a danger that the intense emotions of the Scorpio Sun/Mercury can easily be blocked by the rationality square of the Libra Moon to Uranus which wants everyone to be happy as long as no one gets too close.
That was awfully brave of him to post his chart. I have a terrible chart and would be afraid that no one would come to see me after seeing it.

Re cellphones – I use a cellphone all day long (with earpiece) so I have followed this topic quite closely. While I think there is no doubt that environmental factors cause cancer, different people are predisposed to different health problems because of the energy makeup of their chart and whether or not we are able to create internal balance. And then there’s the broader question of the experiences that life gives to us in order to open up something inside our own spirit. So the whole topic of cancer is a complex one

Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital Sunday were trying to determine the cause of Sen. Edward Kennedy’s seizure? What a bunch of morons those educated heads really are, let me tell you why and save TIME AND TONS of our tax money too! The 76-year-old liberal stalwart has served in Senate since 1962 and like an old overused car he needs to slow down and realize his limitations. Are the doctors that stupid or unable to tell the truth to Mr. Kennedy as it is? But for sure without “Cosmic Consciousness” our good doctors never look At the so very important DOB the way I do… Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy was born February 22, 1932 with the Dragon’s Tail (negative) in both his 6th house of health located in Leo (the heart) and his 7th house (the public) stressing him much too much lately. Luckily for him the Tail of the Dragon spared him this time and hopefully he will get “his wake up call” and slow down considerably but sad enough my prediction for A FAMOUS ONE TO DIE transpired. All this activity is enough to give anyone a serious headache or a tumor?

Sad enough this dramatic lunation touched me very close too and after receiving a call from Owen (Dave’s brother) I met with him at the emergency room at the hart hospital where my good friend and student of mine Dave is fighting for his life. David is on an oxygen respirator and unconscious since last night. David was born in 1952 and his natal Dragon’s Tail (negative) is in the sign of Leo (the heart).

Thank you for writing about Sen. Kennedy. I think the world of him since he has worked for decades to help the poor, the disabled, children, women and minorities…the list goes on and on. His powerful voice has served the advancement of so many causes, not only in the senate but also in society and the thought of that voice being possibly silenced is saddening beyond words.
I wanted to ask a couple of questions concerning your interpretation of his chart – will there be another transit of Saturn over his Pisces sun this year?
Also, I have read many articles from doctors at research centers that have pointed out that many drugs and therapies are now available (in studies) that can prolong the lives of those who have the same kind of brain cancer as Sen. Kennedy. In these trials most of the patients have outlived their 6-month prognosis – at 5 or 6 years and counting without the cancer spreading or advancing at all. All of these doctors and centers have made themselves available to Sen. Kennedy and wish to help him in his time of need especially since their work was made possible by funding that Sen. Kennedy made possible. Does his chart show any positive influence on his health as a result of these inspiring opportunities in medicine?
I was just hoping and praying for his health to improve and wondering what his chart might suggest.

Hi Claudia (and sorry it took me so long to reply).
I personally don’t believe that the chart provides information as to whether an individual will respond to cancer therapies. Many illnesses seem to be rooted in an energy imbalance in the system, and if the energy imbalance continues the disease will progress as well.
My intuitive sense is that Kennedy has poured himself into his work to the expense of his own inner world, and that this may be the first time in his long career that he will be forging a connection on a deep internal level.
Many cancer patients appear to have incredible experiences as a result of their disease, and I hope that Senator Kennedy is one of these, regardless of how his prognosis turns out

‘transiting saturn over his pisces sun’? Isn’t saturn transiting Virgo, right now? With his Capricorn rising (and Saturn in it natally, to boot)- can he ever really stop working and trying to fulfill his social ego desires? Also, people rarely bring up Chappaquiddick but I do remember that day and it is always in the back of my mind when people seem to treat him as a saint
