Obama-Biden: My dream ticket!!

Saturday August 23, 2008

Categories: Politics
I have to insert a disclaimer here:  I have been a huge fan of Joe Biden since he ran back in the '90s, but I'll attempt to be as neutral as possible under the extremely exciting circumstances. (Note: There is...

Thanks, I look forward to this. I am wondering how the coming Pluto in Capricorn and the Uranus movement into Aries will play in the mix - also add in the US chart.

What do you think about Biden's "coming out" occurring during a Void of Course Moon just like when Obama officially announced he was running?

Also, Biden's N.Node is at 0 Virgo, conjunct the Sun today.

A little off-topic, but I'm personally having a cow over the very real possibility that the Dems are going to nominate AGAIN during a void-of-course moon. I became aware of VOC-nomination/lost election phenom sometime before Al Gore was nominated -- and sat and watched the Dem roll-call in 2004, praying they'd spin it out to get the moment of nomination past the VOC moon (I assumed the moment the delegates put Kerry over the top), praying the Black-Eyed Peas would play about 9 more songs before they got down to it, ANYTHING, and no luck.

Someone who follows this very closely told me that same day that a very odd convention rule had been adopted stating that the "timing" of the nomination would not be considered official until Kerry gave his acceptance speech the next day. It sounded like someone had managed to ineffectively communicate to the Rules committee what needed to be done. May as well declare that all babies are "officially" born at noon on the day of their birth.

The moon's VOC between 8:13 EDT and 10:51 EDT on the 3rd day of the convention. I had hoped (been worrying about this since January) that since the convention's in Denver, events would occur in normal LOCAL time. I can't find the official schedule anywhere, but a guy has written in to Topquarkia that the roll-call is slated to take advantage of EDT prime-time. He said he tried to bring this to the attention of the DNC and got no response.

Doesn't look like the GOP is running any risk. If they nominate on the third day of their convention, the Moon is VOC that day but only between about 1-4pm EDT.

Sorry to post a downer, but it's looking like a replay of 2004 is on tap for Wednesday night, and it makes me want to SCREAM.

SB - The VOC moon was not the only factor in Al Gore losing the election. There is an anecdotal report that says that every presidential candidate nominated during a void Moon (readers, that means after the Moon has made its last aspect before changing signs) has not been elected. But I frankly cannot find the data. I'm working on my own research project, but meanwhile you might be interested in this earlier article on the subject:

The moon was definitely VOC during the public rally on Saturday afternoon of August 23rd when Biden was officially presented. However, the Obama campaign promised supporters who signed up that they would be the first to know who the VP candidate would be. The text message was sent out around 3:00 am EDT. At that time I don't think the moon was officially VOC. I guess it is a question of which time you consider an official announcement.

One thing to consider is that the Obama campaign was forced to send those text messages earlier than they had planned because the news media figured out that a private plane had flown from Chicago to Delaware. If the text message counts as the official announcement, the media saved the Obama campaign from making an announcement that would have had the moon VOC.

Great discussion! It wouldn't be the first time the press would have stepped in to help their candidate.

That's interesting about the candidates nominated under a VOC. So If Obama/Biden aren't "officially" nominated during the void (8:13 to 10:51 on that day), they'd fall into that VOC curse. But then you know the void, as I've been taught, are unexpected things, or things not turning out as planned. That's not necessarily bad. Just unexpected.

That mantra of change seems to fall right in with a VOC nomination…

Awesome discussion. Thanks so much for sharing.

Not many people seem to talk about voids… I've always been told they are times of unexpected happenings… things not going as planned. Unexpected isn't always bad. Maybe with this ticket, it's actually a good thing. After all, isn't the mantra "change"?

I love the comparison of the charts too. I assume now that Obama has released his birth certificate that we can get a much more accurate astrological image of him.

So… as long as Obama/Biden are "officially" nominated after 10:51 EST they escape the VOC legacy? I'd bet there's a good shot of that…

Thanks again for the post,
Sue

Oh Lynn, I'm so excited too! I have such a deep affection and respect for Biden. I feel like two of my recent wishes have come true. I remember writing to Biden after he ended his campaign. I thanked him and said I hope to see him working within the new administration for whichever Dem won. Then I've also been writing to Obama's website with the call for Biden. And look! Look at what happened. I'm so psyched!

We've got bigger issues going on for the election anyway - the opposition of Saturn to Uranus is exact that day.

Susan, the Obama birth time has been out for a while, you can read my profile of him on my website: www.astrodynamics.net

Hmmnn. As per Biden, that's an awful awe-full, lot of Scorpio. I'm betting on Sadge rising since he is a notorious foot-in-mouth blowhard.

If...he is a Scorpio eagle, and not a scorpion or a snake...Biden has the capacity to hurt to heal and be a soaring transformative force. But let's not be naive here. Scorpio rules sex and death, and its treachery, brutal power plays and sadism and underhanded manipulation and deceit can know no bounds.

I am so excited to see this combination. It makes for a winning ticket come November. With Pluto in Capricorn we are poised for change. People are starting to wake up from a big sleep, and demand change.

Having 2 parents who were Scorpians - my mother has the same 11/20 birthday herself - I have never ever seen them being treacherous, sadistic or brutal. They were both eagles, by my observation, altho I have seen them having human foibles that were less dramatic. Probably some of the Scorpian tendencies to jealousy and lots of "stuff" going on in the undercurrents...Even so, Scorpians who are older and evolved can be the noblest, self-sacrificing and most insightful of people!

Interesting to me: I notice that Bill Clinton is Leo like Obama and Hillary is a Scorpian...Both really strong signs that are squared (along with other aspects in their chart), but that can be such a powerful combination! Those 2 fixed signs can be such a formidable force.

Please to remember, Dawn at 10:32 pm, that no Sun Sign operates in a vacuum.

There are other planets, other signs, other aspects to take into account -- plus whatever soul contracts, environment, nuturance, karmic fulfillment etc. come together to create a unique individual.

Scorpio rules sex and death, and its treachery, brutal power plays and sadism and underhanded manipulation and deceit can know no bounds. As with all signs and all planetary combinations, this depends on the rest of the chart and the personal evolution of the individual. Biden's Sun is squared by Chiron, which suggests a deep wounding to his sense of self and this can lead to humility later in life. Jupiter, in Cancer, forms a trine to the Scorpio planets which tends to expand one's generosity. This is indeed a lot of Scorpio, but the aspects do not suggest someone who is power hungry or sadistic.

So, now we know: Barack Obama went over the top (thank God!), at 7:48 pm ET, 25 minutes BEFORE the VOC moon, by acclamation, and with a very reassuring last aspect: Cancer Moon sextile Mercury in Virgo. And he will accept the nomination Thursday evening sometime when the transiting Moon will be somewhat conjuncting his Leo sun. I'm so relieved!

BUT ... Joe B. was nominated for VP during the VOC moon later in the evening. I had so wished that Joe would be his loquacious self and talk for a good hour or more before he accepted the nomination. But he accepted during the VOC as well. What might this mean?

So I'm half-relieved and half-worried - it's making me 100% cranky.

Any thoughts from you wise ones?

I was very relieved to see that Bill kept with the program and didn't cause any problems.

Dinah, please do not worry so much about the VOC moon. I've been a professional astrologer for 25 years, and I have not seen that the VOC causes a lot of problems, and most professional astrologers (those who see clients for a living) agree. You can make yourself really crazy looking at every little astrological signature and worrying about what can happen. Live your life! Don't put everything on hold just because it might be raining, just carry an umbrella.

Just the same, I, too, am relieved that Barack's nomination side-stepped the VOC. Every little bit that can help! And from my viewpoint, it was a splendid moment!

Hello all,

I am a huge supporter of Obama/Biden! I actaully was hoping for this ticket 4 years ago...accept I never in my wildest dreams thought It would be top/bottom this way...I thought it would be Biden/Obama. But what an amazing turn of events. I was so hoping he would pick Biden and I was one happy girl at 3am that night! I am writting to ask a question, I am an astrology enthusiast, but not one myself. I was hoping someone could put some information out about the Sarah Palin pick and what the stars say it means for that ticket and the outcome of the election.

Much thanks

Looks like Obama will be choosing another Scorpio, Hillary Clinton, as Secretary of State. He must love strong Scorp personalities...and I don't blame him. He's going to have quite a powerful team!
