Nancy Waterman has a new post up on the recent increase in aggressive activity coming from Russia. Nancy writes:
Whether the Bear is merely demonstrating a revanchist hunger to increase its sphere of influence or feels threatened by a growing geopolitical and ideological encirclement by western-leaning nations, the situation is dire, with all the cards in Putin's hands. Not only will the US, still frightened by terrorism above all else, need Russian cooperation to deal with the issue of a nuclear Iran and with the loose nukes that still dot the Russian countryside, but, even more problematic, Russia controls a great deal of the oil and gas that keeps Europe, South Asia, and Israel humming along. Putin has already shown an inclination to wield this as a very effective weapon. As a result, none of the Western nations that have encouraged and befriended Georgia and the Ukraine in their recent reach toward democracy and NATO membership will give any meaningful military support in the face of Russian aggression and risk throwing world energy markets into a devastating turmoil.
Nancy points out that the progressed Sun in the Russian chart has moved into an exact T-square with the square in the national chart (6/12/1990) between Mars and Uranus. (You'll find my analysis of the Russian chart here.) Mars in the Russian chart is in its own sign of Aries, where it is unafraid of aggression and combat, and since Mars falls in the seventh house of alliances that aggression is often expressed against Russian allies. The square from Mars to the fourth house Uranus denotes to me a willingness to sacrifice national security and comfort (fourth house) in order to exhibit a reckless and radical (Uranus) show of power to the allies of Russia in the world.
At the same time, transiting Uranus has just moved into position to square the Sun in the chart of Russia, exacerbating the revolutionary attitudes and the dislike of folllowing the rules of other nations that is already present in the national chart. The Sun in the chart conjuncts the Midheaven, which in the chart of a nation represents that nation's government. This tendency towards radical behavior will become even more pronounced next year when transiting Uranus makes a square to the Midheaven and starts rattling the government itself.
The US government is attempting to intimidate Russia into ceasing its incursion into South Ossetia (ironically, another oil grab like the US incursion into Iraq). These kinds of intimidation tactics will not work with a Russia in the throes of such a strong Mars/Uranus influence. Everyone knows that the last thing you want to do to a growling bear is taunt him!!

As you find Lynn to be one of your favorite bloggers, you are obviously benefiting from a ton of work she does behind the scenes. You wrote "I have too much respect for your intelligence to spell it out for you, I'll chalk this up as you being too busy to work beyond what you're told. I do look forward to you 'getting it' and working on the charts of the right people."
Yet, when she asked you to clarify, as your assumption that she "understood" was inaccurate, you went off in an unhelpful direction.
It would be kind, helpful, and "respectful" of you to simply answer her question, so that she could have a chance of answering yours, instead of not. There is a ton of information to sort through when it comes to political history and one person cannot do it all.
So, in your opinion, who are those doing the provoking, and of their backers who will now be offering the "solution" to the "problem"? It would be interesting to look at their charts, but unless you clarify how can one invest time in analyzing "those charts?"
I don't get it why you are being so critical, yet unhelpful.
"I don't get it why you are being so critical, yet unhelpful."
Does the wizard seek to persuade the initiate?
And lastly, I'm not sure I'd apply the term "favourite" to a blogger any more.
One good thing about the internet is that we can all cheerfully go our separate ways, if need be.
Why do all astrology sites have to dive head first into political commentary? Yes, it's mundane astrology, and yes, the topic is an act of aggression by Russia, which has HUGE political implications, but we're supposed to be here to use astrology to look at it and see what the chart has to say. NOT what leftist bloggers think about politics SEPARATE from the charts. I'm so completely sick of looking for infomation about astrology and instead getting political and religious indoctrination.
What might be Russia's aim? What might be the outcome of this act? What kind of internal/external strife might they encounter? THESE are the questions we should be answering. NOT what so and so thinks America did wrong this time. If you want to bash America or discuss what your OWN OPINION is about the situation, you should go to a POLITICAL site. Astrology should be dicussed on an astrology site.
Let the chart lead the way, not politics.
Nietrick, you might want to read the Welcome message in the "News and Resources" box which will explain what this blog is about. This is not a news site, it's a weblog - a personal journal of one's thoughts and opinions. I use news to illustrate various aspects of astrology and I do throw in my own thoughts about things. I will mention, though, that criticizing something that the current US government has done does not constitute bashing America.
Oh, Tonya-snakes are easy to capture and study and predict because they are not human, charismatic, brilliant...and unpredictable.
What is the West out for, simply? What's running short?
What if it is 'business as usual' w/ neighbors that are known and predictable (for centuries?), and all our concerns just simply...aren't theirs? It would be like telling your relatives in other states, "oh, yes...we're thinking about doing some remodelling in the more contemporary style.."
In the meantime, an add w/ the price of your home appears in every national newpaper, and 5,000 realtors show up and beat down your door.
What was the bid for manufacter on 'Global Troll Awards?'.
They're cleaning up.
