Thanks Lynn. I find your description quite helpful for understanding Russia's on-going motives. Huge amounts of currency have been flowing into the Russian treasury since Oil escalated in price. No telling what Russia will do with its new found wealth. It wasn't too long ago that Russia was nearly bankrupt.
Russia's current aggression was further fueled by the recent Mars/Uranus opposition. Now, Mars has moved into orb with Pluto. On the Full Moon Mars directly squares Pluto. The intensity of these aspects is high up on the energy chart. I wouldn't be surprised to see Russia escalate the situation.
Later this month, Mercury and Venus both oppose Uranus, then square Pluto. Could this be Russia's exclamation point?
Could this be an indicator of how the Saturn-Uranus opposition will play out later this year? I sure hope not.

Over the next few months Saturn will move into position to square both the US Sun and the Russia Sun. The Saturn/Uranus opposition will therefore be a part of that dynamic. I suspect we are in for a great deal of change and over the next few months I'll be taking a closer look.

For once, Lynn, I'm not sure how to read you. I would have thought with your insight you'd know this recent incident was nothing more than a deliberate provocation by a puppet with well known ulterior motives. So to look at the chart of the provoked who cannot help but play their part in the scam isn't going to further understanding, it would have been a good deal more interesting and useful to look at the charts of those doing the provoking, and of their backers who will now be offering the "solution" to the "problem". I'm sure you understand... ;)

Anon, I don't think I understand you here. Are you saying Russia is the puppet, and if so who are the ones doing the actual provoking and the backers that you mention? Please clarify as I think this is a very interesting point.

Lynn, I'll be brutally honest, and you might hate me for saying this, but if well-informed, perceptive people like yourself don't see beyond the neat media spin when something like this happens, then a lone voice like mine doesn't really stand a chance of any input. Please re-read what I said and think it through from all the angles... I have too much respect for your intelligence to spell it out for you, I'll chalk this up as you being too busy to work beyond what you're told. I do look forward to you 'getting it' and working on the charts of the right people. Huge apologies for not being more helpful, rest assured you remain my favourite blogger on the internet! :)

Something that might help in terms of the bigger picture: what important deal has just been agreed today, and can you see the connection? And I'll leave it at that, in the hope that you will invest the time in research on this if need be, as it is quite clear the course of future events is being set up. Best wishes, Lynn!

I'm not the Anon (I prefer "favorite" not favourite" ;-) ) but the Anon is right, there's much, much more to this than we are being told. We are constantly being lied to by our leaders.
Here's the bigger picture: Georgia has long been supplied with arms and foreign aid by the Americans and the Israelis. At this time, it appears that Russia is being provoked into a war at the same time that China is focused on the Olympics. These two superpowers are allies of Iran. Who has been agitating for war against Iran? America and Israel. With the main allies preoccupied, the war against Iran is more likely. Iran has oil. Who wants oil? America and Israel. On and on it goes.
Anytime there is war, bloodshed or mayhem, you need to ask, "Cui bono?" Who benefits? As in, who benefits from this activity? Follow the money.
For more information, please go to www.whatreallyhappened.com and look through the articles on the Georgia/Russia conflict. Michael Rivero is a very smart and perceptive individual.

I feel like this is a test of some kind. Hmmm...
OK, here's what I know: South Ossetia has an oil pipeline. Georgia paid McCain's foreign policy advisor $800,000 in lobbying bills over the past few years. Georgia's president confirms that Georgia is receiving arms from Israel, Israel denies it. Some people say that the US just wants to enter the battle but there aren't enough troops to do so.
It appears to me that Russia is working to amass more power and influence in the region and beef up its access to oil. Russia, China and India will soon be allied into the world's major superpower. They all get oil from Iran, I believe, and will be allied with Iran as well.
Obviously at a certain level the powers that be want conflict and war all of the time so people will be frightened and encouraged to assent to greater rule and control. But I don't see how what Anon is getting at. Please enlighten me!!

I have to respectfully agree with Anon and Kieron here. With today's missile defense shield agreement, rogue elements in the US are provoking the Bear. And as a civilian, I fear what taunting a bear under a volatile transit could bring. Experts say we've never been in more danger, possibly from a Russia-China alliance against the real aggressor, a morally and financially bankrupt nation. How much hypocrisy can the world bear? The bear has been taunted for years...we need to wake up to the hidden agendas driving our foreign policy.
Here's a perspective from Mickhail Gorbachev:
"What happened on the night of Aug. 7 is beyond comprehension. The Georgian military attacked the South Ossetian capital of Tskhinvali with multiple rocket launchers designed to devastate large areas....Mounting a military assault against innocents was a reckless decision whose tragic consequences, for thousands of people of different nationalities, are now clear. The Georgian leadership could do this only with the perceived support and encouragement of a much more powerful force. Georgian armed forces were trained by hundreds of U.S. instructors, and its sophisticated military equipment was bought in a number of countries. This, coupled with the promise of NATO membership, emboldened Georgian leaders into thinking that they could get away with a "blitzkrieg" in South Ossetia...Russia had to respond. To accuse it of aggression against "small, defenseless Georgia" is not just hypocritical but shows a lack of humanity."

Oh please. You Putin apologists need to get a handle on reality. The man is a snake, no question. He has been after Georgia for years. You and your ilk are too busy looking at Bush's naval lint. Both Russia and China have been sabre rattling for some time now. Russia has already made claims on Arctic waters as well. And who has been supplying Iran with weapons to destabilize Iraq? Russia and China.

So who are you saying instigated the acts of aggression in Georgia: Georgia, with the hope of US aid that never came, or the US?
Joseph
August 14, 2008 10:14 PM
Conspiracy theories aside, the US is in no position to exert it's diplomatic will or military strength in this matter - much too stretched. The tension in Georgia has been building for months. This has been a big concern for the US. Georgia "thought" it had the backing of the US and allies to re-exert its influence in the rebel areas. Russia may have set the bait here. Nonetheless, Georgia has reached too far and now finds its "allies" rather toothless.
In the bigger picture, Russia is amassing significant wealth due to the rise in oil's value. With wealth comes power (or in Russia's case renewed power). New alliances are attempting to form in the world. Yet, Russia and China are still too emotionally immature to create a long-term effective alliance bond. Also, they have a long history of incompatibility. Adding Iran to the alliance mix only adds more instability to this dynamic.
Where this goes is anyone's guess. Crazy Uranus makes these dynamics a real wild card. With Uranus opposing Saturn come November, then 4 more times through 2010, the world could find itself in a topsy-turvy cycle of upheaval and dangerous posturing by the time 2011 rolls around. I suspect what we're seeing now is a realignment of wealth and power throughout the globe. Uranus in late degree Pisces sure knows how to get everyone's attention.

You wrote "I have too much respect for your intelligence to spell it out for you, I'll chalk this up as you being too busy to work beyond what you're told. I do look forward to you 'getting it' and working on the charts of the right people."
Yet, when she asked you to clarify, as your assumption that she "understood" was inaccurate, you went off in an unhelpful direction.
It would be kind, helpful, and "respectful" of you to simply answer her question, so that she could have a chance of answering yours, instead of not. There is a ton of information to sort through when it comes to political history and one person cannot do it all.
So, in your opinion, who are those doing the provoking, and of their backers who will now be offering the "solution" to the "problem"? It would be interesting to look at their charts, but unless you clarify how can one invest time in analyzing "those charts?"
I don't get it why you are being so critical, yet unhelpful.

Why do all astrology sites have to dive head first into political commentary? Yes, it's mundane astrology, and yes, the topic is an act of aggression by Russia, which has HUGE political implications, but we're supposed to be here to use astrology to look at it and see what the chart has to say. NOT what leftist bloggers think about politics SEPARATE from the charts. I'm so completely sick of looking for infomation about astrology and instead getting political and religious indoctrination.
What might be Russia's aim? What might be the outcome of this act? What kind of internal/external strife might they encounter? THESE are the questions we should be answering. NOT what so and so thinks America did wrong this time. If you want to bash America or discuss what your OWN OPINION is about the situation, you should go to a POLITICAL site. Astrology should be dicussed on an astrology site.
Let the chart lead the way, not politics.

Nietrick, you might want to read the Welcome message in the "News and Resources" box which will explain what this blog is about. This is not a news site, it's a weblog - a personal journal of one's thoughts and opinions. I use news to illustrate various aspects of astrology and I do throw in my own thoughts about things. I will mention, though, that criticizing something that the current US government has done does not constitute bashing America.
