I sure wish we have a birth time for Sarah Palin which would help to give us more specificity about her personality and help us to forecast with more accuracy. (There is a 4:40 pm time circulating around the internet but it is completely unsubstantiated and should not be relied upon.) However, it is growing ever more clear that Governor Palin will not be a flash-in-the-pan vice presidential pick if McCain’s bid for the White House fails – her aspirations run much deeper.
Personally, I like a 9:00 am birthchart for her that has Aries rising, expressing her fearless warrior personality, and Jupiter, King of the Gods, right on the ascendant mirroring her shameless raw ambition and boundless confidence. This fantasy chart has Capricorn on the cusp of the Tenth House of career with the South Node conjunct the Midheaven where it would explain her comfort with her public role and a conflict between staying at home (North Node would then be on the cusp of the Fourth House of home) and career.
Her Moon would then be at the first degree of Aquarius and it would conjunct Mercury, reflecting her ability to convey her words (Mercury) in a way that hits people at an emotional level (Moon). The Uranus/Pluto conjunction in this chart falls in the sixth house of work, service and the employee/employer relationship which fits well when you consider her efforts to completely control the behavior of her subordinates. Unless an official birth time is released, though, all of this is just speculation.
In any event, transiting Jupiter has been making a square to Jupiter in Palin’s chart since March of 2008, with the second phase of that cycle occurring in July at the beginning of the Troopergate scandal. The challenging aspects of Jupiter inflate our confidence and give us a sense that we want to be bigger, and there can be a sense of urgency and reckless overconfidence with the squares. The final phase of this Jupiter square is today, October 30 and for the past week leading up to this big Jupiter event there has been evidence of Governor Palin’s ambitions to be seen as a major leadership figure, including her interruptions of John McCain in their joint appearances which led unnamed McCain aides to say Palin had “gone rogue” and off-message.
Sarah Palin has a square from Neptune to the Sun in her chart, just as Barack Obama does. The Neptune/Sun square can show a difficulty in establishing a strong personal identity that makes it easy to take on different personas and roles, often in an attempt to build an identity later in life. Transiting Neptune began a transit over Palin’s Aquarian Sun earlier this year, coinciding with the beginning of the Jupiter transit, suggesting that there is an element of illusion (Neptune) in the grandiosity (Jupiter square) of Palin’s ambition. Neptune transits can be gloriously spiritual, opening doorways to a direct experience of the divine within us. Or they can lead us through illusion, delusion and confusion that make it difficult for us to find our way.
Once Neptune is through with Palin’s Sun it will continue to her Mars, and then her Saturn, ending this cycle in 2010. But Palin will experience a big shift around the end of 2009: the shift of her progressed Mars into Aries where it will be squared by transiting Pluto. That will be a very interesting time to watch. Transits of Pluto to Mars can destroy us, or they can make us stronger and build tremendous reserves of internal power.
Over the next 18 months or so Palin’s relationships and alliances will be tested with a triple threat: Pluto will completes a square to Venus in her chart that began earlier this year, and transiting Chiron (wounding and healing) and Jupiter (frustration in expectations) will both square Palin’s progressed Venus beginning next spring.
No matter what you think of Sarah Palin, you simply cannot ignore her. She’s a force to be reckoned with and it will be interesting to see how she manages these Neptune cycles over the next few years.

It’s interesting to me tho, that Sarah’s facial features have nothing “Aries” about them, such as prominent eyes, nose or teeth, or the typical Aries eyebrows, which Linda Goodman likened to ram’s horns. But I’m certainly not arguing with you, Lynn – I’m no astrologer!. Just pointing out something I noticed.
You said: “Transiting Neptune began a transit over Palin’s Aquarian Sun earlier this year, coinciding with the beginning of the Jupiter transit, suggesting that there is an element of illusion (Neptune) in the grandiosity (Jupiter square) of Palin’s ambition. Being born the day after Sarah, would this apply to me too? It sounds a little scary.

Just saw a ticker on CNN this afternoon regarding Palin’s comments about her intention to stay on the national scene even if McCain loses next week.. Went hunting for details and found this story in the
Washington Times.
Of course the McCain people are now scrambling to downplay that she might be saying ANYTHING like he might not win…

Being born the day after Sarah, would this apply to me too? It sounds a little scary. I’ve had Pluto transiting my Mars this year Marianne, and I’m still here. But yes – this will apply to you too. These big transits don’t have to be scary but it’s helpful to know that they’re coming so that you can prepare and understand the energy behind what is happening.

Without revealing anything too personal, could you tell me of your experiences with this Pluto/Mars transit? I didn’t mean to imply I thought I couldn’t survive it (LOL) but I’d like some idea of what I’m about to face.
Thank you,
Marianne

My roommate who is one of my very best friends was born the exact day Sarah Palin was, 2/11/64. But he doesn’t know (or rather, refuses to tell me) what time he was born and also he was born in Hammond, IN which is far from Wyoming or Idaho or wherever she was born. Unless you were born at the same time of day and place as Sarah, Marianne, you probably don’t have that much in common with her, so stop worrying. Furthermore, my roommate is a gay and very Catholic male who is liberal to the core. He was for Hillary and I’m still not sure he has accepted the fact that Obama clinched the nomination!
My take on the whole Palin issue is that she is a young soul who doesn’t “get it” yet but in a few lifetimes will see the light. God love her. We’ve all been there. Learn, Sarah, learn! We’re all cheering for you (to learn, that is).

People seem to like the 4:40 chart, but I support the view that a smart astrologer friend came up with, that Palin might have Sag rising, her love of sport hunting, her love of outdoors, her religious beliefs. But an Aries rising could make sense, forging ahead without much thought.
Marianne, I also have nearly an identical chart to Palin. If you’re interested, I’d love to compare notes on our charts for educational purposes. Is there any we can be in contact without either of us publishing our emails publicly? I was born Feb. 11 GMT, but Feb. 12 in my country.

Cimbalok, would love to connect with your roommate and compare notes. I do think that there would be commonalities, even if we were born in different places. The timing of events and the range of things that happen to us, that’s what we would have in common.

Alaskans have seen other aspects of Sarah Palin that need to be figured in: for one thing, her propensity for retribution, to consider anyone who opposes her as an enemy and, having made that categorisation, not to change it. She thinks in terms of enemies and friends, and enemies are permanently demonised in her thinking, so much for Christian forgiveness. Her behavior thus far shows that she does not scruple to take revenge underhandedly and that she seeks to cripple her ‘enemy’ permanently, rather as a grizzly attacks in order to remove a threat by maiming to kill. Another characteristic in evidence has been her using public office, mayoral or gubernatorial, for her own advantage and profit behind the scenes, including disregarding or violating laws and statutes that other citizens are expected to observe. She has been stingy towards human beings who could use civic help such as rape victims in Wasilla; whatever happened to the Christian notion of all people being our brothers and sisters and helping one’s brother/sister in times of need? Remember also that she is covert, with a split between her Aquarian appeal to the public and talk of the ‘public good’. She has continually operated off the radar in preserving her political power – this in a state with ‘sunshine laws’ – as with the use of Yahoo! email and other things I shall not go into here. Further, she has shown herself willing to skirt or stretch the law, to preserve her agenda. Like other contemporary politicians she has rewarded her friends with offices, often irrespective of their qualifications for said offices, for which Bush II and his campaign contributors are of course but one, though an egregious, instance. As the saying goes, she ‘takes care of her own’.
She recently said that she was not going through all that campaigning ‘for naught’ – that reminds me of Capricorns who want results for effort expended (but other signs no doubt share that desire). In fact, she has harbored such a single-minded, overweening ambition to become president, with the conviction that God has called her to this role, that if John McCain were elected I would expect her intense subconscious thought forms to manifest in his disability or even demise before his elected term were complete; in giving that personal opinion please note I am NOT saying that she would ever wish Mr McCain ill … just that she would not mind if he were out of the way! Her conduct in recent interviews where both Republican candidates were present made it obvious she considered herself the focus of attention and the ordained spokesperson of her Party.
I realise that other posters who share her birth date may have different Ascendant or Moon signs or degrees etc – and will have made different life choices from the publicly known behaviors by Sarah Palin specified above. So no-one reading this should take offence. But the facts mentioned above, which are known by people who live near Sarah Palin the human being, are important to consider and I think will round out the astrological gestalt – natal and by progression – for our speculative discussion.

Sorry for my delay on this Marianne, I spent most of yesterday finishing the Skywatch article. Marianne, go to my personal journal and scroll back to April, May and June and you’ll see some posts from that period, and I wrote a post on it here too: http://blog.beliefnet.com/astrologicalmusings/2008/05/musings-on-anger-and-mars.html

This is a very interesting discussion. I have a friend who shares my same birthdate, but not the time. We have the same moon sign but a different chart setup – I have Gemini rising and she has Leo rising. But if you met both of us you would never think we have the same chart.
I’m currently reading Liz Greene’s book “The Dark of the Soul: The Psychopathic Personality.” She makes the excellent point that you can’t look in a chart and tell whether someone’s difficult planetary configurations are going to lead to psychopathic behavior. Some of that is dependent on the environment in which the individual grows up, and some of it as you say Tonio has to do with the choices that we make every day.

My fantasy Aries rising chart has Jupiter on the ascendant which would have this same effect only more pronounced. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and shares many of these same qualities. There is also often an extreme confidence with Jupiter on the Asc and a tendency to always believe one is Right.

It would be nice to get her correct birth time. I personally think that Sarah has a lot to answer to back in her great state of Alaska. She seems to be taking advance of her position as governor, paying for her family travel expenses with government funds. She needs to answer to how she paid for the construction of her home and why didn’t she release her medical records after she said she would.
What I don’t understand is why does a person who claims to be child of GOD preach hate. We should not support such people. I don’t think we would be speaking about Sarah this time next year. She will be a distance memory.
