This comes as Saturn approaches within one degree to an opposition of Uranus. Mars today is in an exact square to Chiron which just turned direct and this event is certain to push with aggression (Mars) old wounds (Chiron) in the Middle East.
A U.S. military official said the raid by special forces targeted the network of al-Qaida-linked foreign fighters moving through Syria into Iraq. The Americans have been unable to shut the network down in the area struck because Syria was out of the military’s reach.
“We are taking matters into our own hands,” the official told The Associated Press in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the political sensitivity of cross-border raids.
The attack came just days after the commander of U.S. forces in western Iraq said American troops were redoubling efforts to secure the Syrian border, which he called an “uncontrolled” gateway for fighters entering Iraq.
A Syrian government statement said the helicopters attacked the Sukkariyeh Farm near the town of Abu Kamal, five miles inside the Syrian border. Four helicopters attacked a civilian building under construction shortly before sundown and fired on workers inside, the statement said.
The government said civilians were among the dead, including four children.
This was the first large-scale US raid conducted within Syria by air and eight people were killed, including four children. Talks between Syria and the UK were canceled as a result of the raid and it is feared that diplomatic efforts by Syria towards Israel will also be damaged. Unfortunately I am out of town at the moment without my book of World Horoscopes but I looked at the Geodetic chart for Abu Kamal, Syria where the attack took place and the Mars/Chiron square falls right on the angles of the chart, with Mars on the IC (cusp of the fourth house of home and country) and Chiron on the descendant (cusp of the seventh house of partners and open enemies). I am just learning about Geodetic astrology after taking a workshop at the Blast astrology conference, but the placement of this attack seems very particular and suggests that this is an event of major significance, not only for Syria but for the region and the world.

Yes, this Is significant and it is also About TIME that this happened.
Syria and Iran are fueling the terrorist organisation of Hezbollah/Hamas. If they are not cut off, then there will be a lot more than ‘four children dead’.
Apparently, the Saturn/Uranus opposition is going to be a time of action. I would like to think that this kind of action will be brief and effective – but I have lived too long and seen too much of what the Hezbollah can and will do, to hope that brevity is something that is possible. But I can meditate for its intention.

It’s gonna be a hot time, in the old sky, tonight.

Oh please. It’s a lot more complicated than “Syria and Iran are fueling the terrorist organisation of Hezbollah/Hamas.” Always, always, and always, the Israeli Mossad has a hand in any sort of strife in the region. Their very motto is “By deception shalt thou do war.”
As for me, I’ve lived long enough to suspect what Mossad can and will do, and no amount of simplifying it into “Hizballah = bad guys” will convince me otherwise.

Kieron,
I think the following needs to be said: not everything that happens in the Middle East is directly or indirectly related to Israeli involvement. Hezballah would exist regardless of Israel’s existence. It is an organization borne out the Iranian revolution’s excesses.
Hamas is a different story – as an offshoot of the Muslim brotherhood (which was established in the 1920s) it would probably still be around since salafism (a term for radical, intolerant, politicized Sunnism) is partly a response to the malaise of the region still looking for an identity following the dismantling of the Ottoman empire, the last caliphate.
Forget for a minute about whatever feelings you harbor about Israel. Hezballah is a organization commited to undermining a fledging plurastic Arab government (Lebanon). It is first and foremost, an Iranian proxy designed to spread the Iranian brand of politicized radical Islam, i.e. export the revolution. Since its inception it has had its eyes on destabilizing Lebanon. After the Cedar revolution in 2005 (the non-violent movement which rolled back the Syrian military presence in the country), it has been somewhat effective in deabilitating the democratically-elected Lebanese government. It will remain a problem for Lebanon so long as it enjoys Iranian patronage.
The whole Middle East suffers under the yoke of the problematic politics which have come to dominate its life. It is time that we stopped being so fixated on Israel and its Mossad — there is a greater story here.
I apologize because I recognize that is an astrological blog first and a political one second, but I think this needs to be said since I think we as American do a real diservice to ourselves by looking at Middle Eastern politics solely through the lense of Israel.
