Jupiter in Aquarius

posted by Lynn Hayes | 2:08pm Saturday January 3, 2009

I’m behind on several writing projects, including January’s Skywatch and an article on Jupiter’s upcoming entry into Aquarius which will take place on January 17. Jupiter changes signs every year or so, and while in Aquarius it will team up with Chiron and Neptune which ought to really be interesting and make for some major changes of consciousness!  But more on that later.  Meanwhile,  Kathryn Cassidy has written a nice piece on Jupiter in Aquarius, so I thought I’d share this while I’m getting my act together this weekend:

Jupiter in Aquarius is the one to watch this year as it correlates to a Jupiter/Uranus conjunction and this is one of the most unpredictable, life-changing mergers in the astrological pantheon. It’s the placement of the extraordinary, the radical, the revolutionary, the miraculous and the unbelievable – in both the positive and negative sense of the words.

The last time Jupiter was in Aquarius we saw all these adjectives put to use. The year was 1997 and it was simply unbelievable that Diana, Princess of Wales should be killed in a car crash; so totally unexpected a fate at that time in her life that we were all left reeling. A mass (AQ) outpouring of grief at her death (JU) united people across the globe. We were also shocked by the shooting of Gianni Versace in Miami.

It was in 1997 that Tony Blair stormed into power with his ‘New Labour’. This was an extraordinary defeat for the Conservatives and changed the face of Britain overnight. Meanwhile in the White House the words ‘unbelievable’ and ‘I’m shocked’ were undoubtedly being well used as rumours were swirling about the inappropriate relationship of the President, Bill Clinton with an intern called Monica Lewinsky*.

The Internet began its meteoric rise to world dominance and technology in general followed suit in ’97. It’s hard to believe that it is only in the last 12 year Jupiter cycle that surfing the World Wide Web has become such an integral part of our lives.

Aquarius is the sign of the masses and Jupiter relates to Space and ‘the beyond’. Billions of people were transfixed by the sight of Comet Hale-Bopp in the heavens in 1997 and in Phoenix, Arizona the Phoenix Lights phenomena reminded us that ‘the truth could still be out there’! The list goes on but the point is that 1997 was a pivotal year of extraordinary happenings and 2009 is likely to have a similarly radical impact on our culture and, for many of us with Leo, Scorpio and Taurus planets, in our personal lives too.

Neptune in Pisces and the question of reality
Neptune just slipped back into Pisces where it will remain until 2025.  Neptune's role in the astrological pantheon is to cause us to question where the physical world ends and a more transcendent reality begins.  It therefore rules our spiritual experience, but it can also be confusing and induce

Hi Lynn
Jupiter’s year-long dance with Neptune and Chiron through most of 2009 ought to have a different impact on the world than Uranus/Jupiter in 1997. Look for healing on a global level, breakthroughs in film and imagery (Neptune), and surprising information from the Cosmos. Also, social networking activity on the web may increase significantly in size/scope.
Jupiter ingresses into Aquarius on January 5 at 7:42 a.m PST

That sounds very intriquing, Joseph, particularly “healing on a global level”. Heaven knows we could do with a dose of that.
I’m looking forward to your article on Jupiter in Aquarius, Lynn. I suspect this year is going to be very interesting.

The triple conjunction of Jupiter to Chiron and Neptune ought to offer some interesting qualities as well.
I am particularly interested in autism and a potential Uranian connection. Autism rates seem to have spiked after 1993 which coincides with the Uranus/Neptune conjunction. Autism appears to be a Uranian experience where the brain and emotions are not connected. I suspect that autism is an extreme form of Uranian geekdom, but more research is required. :)

Hopefully the yang nature of an Aquarian Jupiter will help the markets recover and the general malaise of the world hopefully will be lifted—maybe we’ll finally see 3D television take off…hopefully no bad news regarding the oceans rising, ships sinking or tsunamis again. I meditated at the moment Jupiter entered Aquarius this morning looking at the astrochart app on my iPod—once i saw the figures on the screen show Jupiter from 29’59 Cap to 0’00 Aqu I heard water moving in the walls from the neighbor upstairs taking a bath. Go Waterbearer go! It’s a different world from 1997, and moreso different than 1985. I’m looking forward to better music too…last time in 1997 Neptune was teetering on the edge of Cap/Aqu—and electronica was starting to make its way into mainstream. Hmmm… one can only speculate right now.

Hi all, Scontz Thompson here. Oh yeahhhh – Jupiter is in Aquarius alright. I’m a singer, song-writer, Astrologer, and now, just within the past three weeks I also have my own radio show on the brand new local community-access radio station WMCB LP 107.9 FM out of Greenfield, Massachusetts! Granted it’s a very small station with only 100 watts of output – but hey, I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity to reach even a dozen people during any given show. I’ve named the show ‘Anything Goes’ – not too fancy a name but it’s apt I guess because of the variety of subjects I cover on the two-hour shows. Not only am I responding to the change that Jupiter in Aquarius reflects (radio/airwaves/Uranus/Aquarius/communications, etc.), but the show’s content also reflects this shift in energies as well: readings from various spiritual traditions; Ufology updates (not the wing-nut fringy stuff); playing my my own songs/CDs (almost all of my stuff from the muse is spiritually inspired). What makes this Jupiter/Uranus/Neptune connection quite so powerful for me is that I was born under a Pisces sun; Uranus now being in Pisces (since ’03′), aspecting Jupiter in Aquarius (entered 1/5/09), plus Uranus in Pisces is in mutual reception to Jupiter in Aquarius. If you’re not familiar with how that works: Jupiter is considered a co-ruler of Pisces – and Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius. This sharing of signs and planets bumps-up the energy level shared between them to a significant degree. Yes – it’s a bit unnerving all of this hitting so powerfully now – BUT – having been born with my Venus in Aquarius in the 1st House, it’s familiar ground, thank God for that. Most definitely the Aquarian ‘us TOGETHER as One’ is slowly and painfully reflecting our shift from the old, well-worn, ‘us versus them’ mentality and moving into a truly inspired and cleansing new way of RELATING as fellow human beings. The tyrants are one by one tumbling from their self-appointed thrones. We are well on our way to a much more intelligent (truest, most complete sense of the word) and all-embracing way of getting on in this world. Sanity is slowing but surely gaining ground – but sadly not before much resistance, bloodshed is overcome and replaced with positive and open sharing of the wealth and resources. We are not here after all to merely HAVE – but we are here to learn, give, and move on.
Peace, Scontz – happy to be alive in the midst of this the most amazing transition mankind has ever witnessed! We are in the midst of a major paradigm change, not just another period of shuffling the same old crap around to make it look prettier, or ‘different’. Grab yer pants and enjoy the ride!
