Reality Sandwich is a very interesting webzine with a fascinating array of opinions and news, including this essay on the necessity to use the breakdown of the current economic system to recreate something that is more easily adaptable to our future world. As many of us know Pluto, the planet of death and regeneration, has just entered Capricorn, sign of political and corporate structures, monetary systems, etc. The breakdown that is occurring now serves a purpose: to eliminate the old systems that are no longer working in order to make way for something that will better serve us and facilitate the continuing evolution of humanity.

My sentiments exactly!! This reflects the astrological climate, particularly as Uranus (sign of innovation and revolution) moves into position to form a challenging aspect (square) to Pluto. Uranus/Pluto cycles are associated with cultural upheaval and change, such as the dramatic changes of the 1960s when Uranus made a conjunction to Pluto in Virgo and set off a string of battles for liberation (Uranus) and the overturning of the status quo in government and society.
The last square of Uranus to Pluto occurred back in the early 1930s, approaching the exact alignment in 1931 but not fully entering the square until April of 1932. 1932 marked the lowest point of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, occurring several years after the market crash of 1929. The German bank failures of 1931 paved the way for Adolf Hitler to emerge from obscurity and run for Chancellor in 1933. 1931 and 1932 also marked the acceleration of tensions between China and Japan when Japan invaded Manchuria.
Hunger marches in Britain and the US 1932 were a symbol of the growing frustration (Uranus) with the status quo (Pluto). This social unrest led to more social legislation being passed in the US than at any other times in the nation’s history, including the Social Security Act.
We can see that the breakdown of that Uranus/Pluto phase paved the way for a new wave of political and social structures, as well as laying the groundwork for the next World War. Much of this change was reactive rather than proactive, for this is to a large extent how societies react to crisis.
As astrologers we are given a glimpse into the underlying dynamics of a given event, which provides clues for the most successful way to handle a particular cycle. The square of Uranus to Pluto will begin in the summer of 2010 when Uranus enters Aries, and the clearer our intention for transformation that we want to occur during this cycle, the more productive and bveneficial this shedding of the past and moving into the future will be.

I’ve read that because it is within human nature to be adaptive that the technology we use (program) such as computers are able to be “adaptive” too! Also the second Zeitgeist movie featured the Venus Project that proposes that mankind already has sufficient technology to put into place communities such as those suggested by Daniel.

It should not be forgotten just who fired the first shot last time around.
I think this is a gray area that has been the subject of much dispute, as are the beginnings of all wars. It’s never as clear cut as we would like to believe.

The 2012 prophecy is from the Mayan calendar, and there are some parallels with the astrological cycles but they do not line up perfectly. The square from Uranus to Pluto will be in place between 2010 and 2013 which will certainly create some drama, but the challenging cycles that astrologers have been looking at really started last year in 2008 with the entry of Pluto into Capricorn.

Hi Lynn,
Interesting article! I am also an astrologer, and have been looking forward to the Uranus-Pluto square, as I perceive it to be a harbinger of great social/cultural change that is much needed. It won’t be easy, but it is a fantastic time for us to change the way that we live and take care of each other and the earth.
I see the square as a challenge between the status quo and the new scoial vision, and agree with Daniel that it is time for us to Think Big and develop a clear intention about what we want in the future.
It’s exciting, no doubt! And I trust that we will use this opportunity to break with the past and structures that clearly aren’t working for the benefit of all, to create a new reality that celebrates the One.

Usually astrologers tend to speak in general terms. The cardinal squares of 2008-2016 are a mark for a very powerful time. Don’t underestimate that. Accordingly to what I have studied of cycles, we are set for a series of revolutions (or war) around 2022-2029. The life will change dramatically mainly due to the peak oil, conspiracies revealed, climate and geological change, discoveries, a few regional conflits that may become nuclear, a second great depression, and many changes concerning lifestyles, self-reliance, taxes, money, ecology, etc. Perhaps a return local communities, new currencies, ET disclosure by 2020s, free energy… Nothing will be the same. This unstable and accelerating time will be between 2012 to 2018. Before the tight squares of 2009, 2010 and 2011 mark the start of that powerful period, with economic crash, perhaps the flu pandemic, social unrest and a larger scale war. In the end, as you said, the old crumbles to give way to the very much new. A reconnection to harmony with our planet once again, and amomgst ourselves.

Looking at what themes that emerged in the 60s and 70s and seeing this square as a continuation from that conjunction I am already starting to see women’s equality movements rising in the Middle East and in Western Islam. The movement for equality for LGBT people will see the growing establishment of marriage equality with the repeal of DADT and DOMA as well as the passing of ENDA. I think Prop 8 in California will be repealed in 2012 when it will be up for vote again. Sustainable and clean energy will gain a greater footing by the end of the square. My concern is that we will move more into nuclear power because that is where the big money is, rather than solar/geothermal/wind which will likely remain on the sidelines if nuclear power is pursued. Water is shaping up to be a huge issue, in California there was a long and severe drought in the 70s. Financial reform will likely be weak this time around but is a preview of a more truer financial transformation by the end of the square. Unfortunately we’re likely to experience more domestic and foreign terrorism on American soil. And witness the flowering of creative techy art, activism and forms of social networking and blends of this that will spur on social change. It will be very exciting and we are blessed to live at this special and transformational time!

it all started about a year ago,
I had a dream that the sky went black,
and all of the people were running down the streets with fire lit torches.
I had received a Phone call from loved ones last minute.
it was one of the most real dreams i had ever had, thus far.
it worried me enough to where i called said loved ones to make sure everything was alright.
Six Months ago I had a dream thousands of animals started dieing,
being covered in a black slime, like something from scooby doo.
it was so vivid, and lucid, i saw them in the fields, and tall grass dieing,
raising their arms and wings to the sky as to be praying for help.
Recently, about a month ago I had another bright, vivid dream.
fires broke out over a third of our country, in the north west.
from the coast line as far inland as middle Montana, and will spread down to southern California.
Last night during meditation, i was delivered information about what it all means.
As you know recently, we have been destroying the earth at a rapid pace.
its only a matter of time before it reacts. and I believe this is how it will unfold.
Due to the oil spills, the empty pocket that once contained the oil, will collapse, causing shifting
of the tectonic plates, causing more earthquakes, and volcanoes to start erupting.
Changing our Environment as we know it.
Mt. Hood, in Oregon will erupt, along with Yellowstone, in Wyoming,
and other northern volcanic mountains in Canada. these volcanoes will be gigantic,
causing lava flows to run down into the valley in between the pacific coast rim, and the rocky mountains.
in turn causing massive fires to break out in the same areas. California will flood, “Falling off into the ocean”
and the great Mississippi will flood as well as the plains in the Midwest. from as far north as the Hudson bay,
and as far south as the gulf of Mexico will have detrimental flooding.
during these massive eruptions massive amounts of sulphur gas will enter our atmosphere.
our skies will go very dark, for a number of years do to the gasses being “caught” in the atmosphere.
this will make farming near impossible, and many crops globally will die.
when the gasses enter the air, they also start to turn into liquid sulfuric acid, and it will start to rain. and snow acid.
our climate will go thru a rapid change, with dropping temps.

Its always fascinating how the planetary alignments match exactly whats occuring in our world and how the future will unfold. What I’ve always wondered is if the other planetary systems out there reflect what happens in ours as well as theirs at the same time… (too deep?)
