Weekend Skywatch, June 13-14, 2009: Mercury enters Gemini

posted by Lynn Hayes | 5:49am Saturday June 13, 2009

by Lynn Hayes.  This is written for Eastern time zone – please adjust accordingly for your own part of the world.  You can see the positions of today’s planets here.

Mercury has now moved out of range of the challenging aspect to the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune conjunction that caused some distress last week, and it is at the last degree of Taurus where it has been somewhat stubborn yet patient and persistent.  When Mercury moves into Gemini late Saturday evening, communication will flow more smoothly and our ability to process our experiences will be facilitated.
Saturday morning the Moon is completing its pass through Aquarius and will pass over Chiron, Neptune, and then Jupiter before noon.  There is a tremendous emotional depth here, and a connection opening between the heart and the soul that will help us to shift out of any places in which we have become stuck.
The Moon squares Mercury Saturday afternoon and we may find ourselves feeling out of sorts for a few hours.  Arguments are possible now – both with others and within ourselves.  By 5:30 or so when the Moon leaves Aquarius for sensitive Pisces, everything will be sorted out and we will begin to heed the call of a yearning in the heart for an experience of divine Peace.
The Pisces Moon is creative and mystical, and longs above everything for an experience that is beautiful and magical.  Around 10:30 pm the Moon forms a harmonious sextile to Pluto that helps to focus our desire and intention.  Pluto helps us to go deeply, and when engaged in a harmonious planetary combination that depth comes with a sense of comfort and completion.
Mars and Venus are within three degrees of their conjunction now, both planets in Taurus.  The combination of Mars and Venus energizes relationships of all kinds, and in Taurus the focus is on serenity and pleasure until the conjunction peaks on June 21st, just in time for the Solstice!!  The Moon dances with both planets today in a harmonious sextile all morning and until around 3 pm.  This is a beautiful time for connecting with loved ones in a deeper way; lovers are blessed by the earthy splendor of the Taurus influence and the emotional magic of the Pisces Moon.
This bliss will continue into the evening, unhampered by other planetary energies until late in the evening when the Moon opposes Saturn and bumps up against cold hard reality (at around midnight EDT).  By early morning that influence will have passed, though, and it will be a new day.

Neptune in Pisces and the question of reality
Neptune just slipped back into Pisces where it will remain until 2025.  Neptune's role in the astrological pantheon is to cause us to question where the physical world ends and a more transcendent reality begins.  It therefore rules our spiritual experience, but it can also be confusing and induce
