Sunday inspiration: Trusting the future
Astrologers have a reputation, which we ourselves and our forbears have propagated, of being able to foretell the future. If you run a Google search for "Can astrology predict the future," the very first article is from a well-known astrology site titled "Predicting the future with astrology."

Neptune in Pisces and the question of reality
Neptune just slipped back into Pisces where it will remain until 2025. Neptune's role in the astrological pantheon is to cause us to question where the physical world ends and a more transcendent reality begins. It therefore rules our spiritual experience, but it can also be confusing and induce

Sunday inspiration: The Great Nest of Being
"Whenever we moderns pause for a moment, and enter the silence, and listen very carefully, the glimmer of our deepest nature begins to shine forth, and we are introduced to the mysteries of the deep, the call of the within, the infinite radiance of a splendor that time and space forgot - we are intr

The trouble with Demi Moore

Thanks for the shout out, Lynn. But for the record, I’m not “now” on Beliefnet. I’ve been writing their daily horoscope emails continuously since February, 2002. It’s been over seven years. My appreciation to Beliefnet for being the first site to pick up distribution of my Daily Horoscope Column. Anyway, it’s lovely to share this space with you. Keep up the good work! ~ Rick Levine

Sorry Rick! I didn’t realize that and thought your association was via tarot.com. Note the correction everyone!

Hi Lynn,
I’m very flattered to have been mentioned on your blog, even if only inadvertently in your post on Rick Levine’s terrific interview.
Many thanks!

Hi Lynn (and Rick if you’re still around)
That was a great interview, though I would argue that prediction is not so much a fallacy (Lynne’s word, not Rick’s) as an extraordinary responsibility.
When we predispose someone to a specific outcome, the chances of them manifesting it increase exponentially. That was the point Rick made, and I agree with him.
However, I have had the case, and I’m sure I’m not alone, where I have approached a prediction from the open-ended “here is the potential and this is what its likely to feel like,…” only to have it reported back that I told the customer they had to get a divorce…. I had said no such thing, but that’s what the client wanted to take away from the reading.
Reading astrology or tarot brings a wide range of people, complete with heir prejudices, desires, and beliefs, into our lives.
Our job is not to get them to believe as we do, but to share such information as they need to make their next step more consciously.
On one day, that will involve a specific prediction, on another, it will open the windows of perception, on a third it will strongly confirm what a person already knows to be the case, but they needed to hear if from an “objective” source.

Well said Rodney. And occasionally I do make a specific prediction – sometimes it’s very clear and the person needs to hear that something is over so that they can move on.

Tarot.com is a very unreliable source for information on the history of tarot cards.
Tarot.com is unfortunately the only tarot related website linked by Beliefnet. It is shameful how Beliefnet gives them credibility.
Contrary to what it states on the Beliefnet site, conventinal playing cards do not come from the tarot. Tarot cards were made as a variant of the then standard playing card deck.
There is also no evidence at all that tarot cards were intended for any other purpose than for playing a type of card game.
Tarot cards aren’t always used for divination. Tarot is also a family of card games enjoyed mainly in continental Europe.
Beliefnet should stop this distortion of other peoples culture and revise the section on tarot to give accurate historical information and also mention that people also use tarot cards for game playing.
