by Lynn Hayesphotograph from Reuters. News reports from South Korea say that Kim Jong Il, the despotic leader of North Korea, is suffering from pancreatic cancer and was diagnosed last summer. Rumors of health problems have been swirling around him...
Just briefly here, Lynn...and checking out one of the 2 horoscopes for NKorea I'm aware of, the one for August 10, 1945...
that makes NKorea a Leo. One natal planet, Jupiter 28th degree Virgo / 5th House (conjunct natal Chiron 3rd degree Libra / 6th), is lined up in disharmonious quincunx by the triple conjunction transit of Jupiter Neptune Chiron, while being opposed by transit Uranus in Pisces. Yikes, I'd say !!!
What is NKorea's wound that makes it obsessed with risk-taking, brinksmanship ???
And Kim Jong Il looks ill (yes, that's a pun), or has been ill...has lost a lot of weight.
I would comment that Chiron over Sun Sign and solar energy of Mr. Kim Jong Il is wounded.

Lynn...hadn't read your recommended article on NKorea before posting (which of course I should have). Just quickly went over it now. Sounds good, maybe Sept 9, 1948 is it. You back up your statements well. Conception time could also provide a chart with meaning, I feel (difficult to get such times though for individuals, so have never worked with this type of chart).
Anyways, I was looking for wounds.
Here's what was on Kim's chart (via your link): He has Chiron in the 27th degree of Cancer. We don't know the House, but there's likely strong insecurity about something. And even with a different chart we're not escaping an inconjunct...in fact (if we can look at it this way), transit Chiron (Jupiter Neptune) is making a YOD to Kim's natal Chiron in Cancer and NKorea's conception-time Jupiter in Virgo .
What does Rudhyar have to say about this degree in Cancer? His reworking of the Sabin symbol image reads...>...with the Keynote as...> .
He goes on to say: "The deeper implications of the scene...are that the sociocultural elite can always see its position and security challenged by forces beyond its control, even if it may be successful in protecting itself from destruction. The individual may not be able to depend on the standards and values he acquired through education and through a relatively sheltered and rich life. He has to rise to the occasion, and perhaps to undergo an inner metamorphosis as a result of the crisis he has been able to accept as a personal challenge."
In other words, the challenge "to meet a crisis situation produced by uncontrollable karmic forces that could lead to a successful CATHARSIS."
Well, shades of paranoia...!!! If we were to look for a foreshadowing of developments re. Kim's wound in an environment such as created for his son by Kim Il Sung, it might be asking a lot to see him undergoing an *inner* metamorphosis. More the likelihood of projection on enemies seen without (but NEVER SAY DIE...hopefully wisdom will prevail at the crucial moment were it to come).
My astrologer friend (who on occasion has had prognostic dreams) had a horrific dream many years ago about an event to befall Japan (and which has yet to come to pass) that I'm not privileged to relate here. But suffice to say Japan has some heavy karmic debt it has still to pay off from WW II and prior, involving the Asian countries it had devastated and to which brought great suffering. (Currently their Emperor and Empress are finishing off a 12-day tour of Canada to coincide with 80 years of Japan-Canada relations and comments show there are people still very angry with Japan.)

Interesting comment, Yoshi. I can't help but think that any karmic debt Japan had accrued would have been satisfied by the devastation by the bombs deployed in Nagasaki and Hiroshima, for which the US probably still has to atone.

A discovery, Lynn...the reason why in previous posts parts of my comments did not make it on to your blog page.
Same thing happened above when I tried quoting Rudhyar's rendering of the Sabian image for 27th degree Cancer, the position of Kim Jong Il's Chiron. Site doesn't take quotes placed between double arrows, which I used in today's post and previous ones.
So, that should be: Rudhyar's reworking of the Sabian symbol image reads..."A Violent Storm in a Canyon Filled with Expensive Homes," with the keynote as "A confrontation with a social upheaval demanding the reconsideration of static values." Obviously, if the foregoing is read first, the rest makes more sense.
This symbol, I feel, gives us a good idea of why the continual sabre-rattling by NKorea. NKorea / Kim Jong Il feels beleaguered by pressing forces from without and seems to want to seek a catharsis through external, physical events, rather than change their "standards and values."
Re. Japan's karma from past wrongs...personally, I don't think in our current world the atom bombings count for equalizing their debts to the victim nations. The present govt needs to fully / properly / FORMALLY apologize...not just express 'regrets' as it and other spokespersons are always doing. (Anyone can express regrets, we all regret...and the San Francisco Treaty doesn't really cut it.) After the formal apology, the govt needs to put their money where they put their mouth. I guess that's the extent of it. Just think how different Japan's position would be after that.
And then North Korea can start easing up a bit, and make us all feel a lot easier !!!

Jong II: The old dog who will not (and cannot) learn new tricks.
His upbringing has a great deal to do with who he is; his father taught him his tricks.
