When word of Jaycee’s release first surfaced on Friday I of course took an immediate look at her birthchart. You would expect that someone who was kidnapped and forced to be a sex slave for 18 years would have a horrific chart full of Plutonic undertones but that did not turn out to be the case. We do not have a time of birth for Jaycee, and while her chart (May 3, 1980) does show a conjunction of the Sun to Chiron which does suggest a wounding in childhood, there is also a strong fantasy element to the chart. That Sun/Chiron conjunction is in the earthy sign of Taurus showing that she is a person who needs to feel that life is stable (Taurus), but that an early wound (Chiron) made that impossible.
Jaycee’s birthchart has the Moon in Sagittarius conjunct Neptune, fusing the emotions (Moon) with creativity and imagination (Neptune). Moon/Neptune people are extraordinarily creative, but also sometimes have difficulty being grounded in reality. That Sagittarian Moon longs for freedom and does not like to dwell in despair.
Her Moon/Neptune conjunction is opposed by Venus which enhances that powerful creative imagination even more, adding to the picture of a young girl who perhaps found an opportunity to escape from a life that was difficult and unhappy. We don’t know much about Jaycee’s family, but news reports suggest that her biological father left the family at an early age and made no contact after that. Aspects to the Sun often reveal the relationship of an individual to a father, and a Chiron/Sun conjunction often will show the death or abandonment by the father.
Saturn in Jaycee’s chart is retrograde, indicating an individual who tends to be more self-critical than other people, and it forms a T-square ( a challenging aspect) to both Venus, showing a deep blow to her self-worth, and the Moon/Neptune conjunction as well. Saturn square to the Moon can show depression, but this T-square also shows someone who is deeply shy and socially awkward.
At the same time, though, she has Mars on the Leo/Virgo cusp conjunct Jupiter within 30 minutes which is a tight conjunction. On a certain level she was practical and grounded, and that Mars/Jupiter conjunction provides an abundance of energy and enthusiasm. It also forms a trine to her Taurus Mercury, providing balance and an intellectual focus and reason to be able to work through any challenge.
Jaycee’s stepfather was two blocks away at the time of the disappearance and was an initial suspect in the case. He has been very visible in the aftermath, although it appears that he and Jaycee’s mother are no longer together.
The transits at the time of Jaycee’s capture on June 10, 1991 are interesting as well, with transiting Mars and Jupiter conjunct in the sky, forming a nearly exact square to Jaycee’s Sun/Chiron conjunction. Shortly after her kidnapping there are a series of Jupiter transits to her natal chart that suggest a sense of liberation. Jaycee’s stepfather has said that she came to feel that her relationship with her captor was a kind of marriage. After 18 years of captivity, that family would have become more real to her than her old life.
I certainly don’t mean to imply that there was anything beneficial in Jaycee’s abduction. But life is complex, and understanding the astrological implications helps to provide greater understanding. I myself was assaulted at the age of 10. Lonely and feeling unloved, I willingly went off with the man who then assaulted me. This experience took me through a darkness that I would not have otherwise known, but the actual experience was no more traumatic as life in my family was at the time. The astrological signatures of an event provide clues as to the nature of these events for the growth of the individual.
At the time of her reappearance she was in the throes of her Saturn return, the time at age 28-30 when Saturn returns to its place in the birthchart. This is a challenging time for anyone, as Saturn requires that we face reality and move into adulthood. For Jaycee, the Saturn return hit the Moon/Venus/Neptune planetary system as well, perhaps jolting her into a shocking awareness. In fact, at the time of her reappearance transiting Saturn was exactly square to Neptune, and Jaycee woke up (Saturn) from this bad dream (Neptune).

Fascinating, are you going to delinate the Garrido’s chart as well? I noticed he is experiencing his 2nd Saturn return. I love astrology, it always works!

Interesting stuff, Lynn. I wonder how she and her children are going to make such a huge adjustment after 18 years. I’m sure it’s going to be very hard.

I too got the Jaycee’s birth date first thing to write an article for the examiner and thought I’d find Pluto themes…but it seems this was Uranus and another suggestion that the abduction just could have been liberating to her as nonsensical as it might sound.
I personally believe that if this is so, that Jaycee was not abused at home but rather ignored. Sadly, with children from situations like this…any sort of attention is better than none and they are easy pray for predators, and she does have Mars conjunct Jupiter in Leo conjunct the North Node…
Jaycee’s Natal Uranus in Scorpio (ruler of her S. Node) is square the Aquarius/Leo nodal axis and also square her Leo Mars/Jupiter which are conj the Leo south node. I believe this would make her quite Uranian.
In 91 when she disappeared transiting Uranus was conjunct Neptune in Capricorn, trining her Taurus Sun. Additionally, if you age progress her Taurus Sun/Chiron conjunction it had moved to 24 Taurus and was opposing her natal Uranus…creating a fixed cross with her strong nodal configuration.
And when she reappeared…the current transiting Saturn/Uranus opposition was creating a mutable grand cross with her Sagittarius Moon/Neptune and Gemini Venus opposition (as you pointed out she is also having her first Saturn return). Also…the current transiting Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron conj was activating that nodal configuration again.
Amazing transits even without a birth time.
I’ve always said…about a Sagittarius Moon or on the 4th…that any where you hang your hat is home…and so it seems with Jaycee.
I’m certainly not taking anything away from what happened to her but it seems she was better able to handle such a situation than many would have been…

It may be this child’s dreamy, yielding Moon-Neptune and pragmatic Taurus Sun saved her life. She has some big adjustments to make now.

I can understand how this event might personally affect you, Lynn. I’m so sorry for what you went through as a child at home and then with the abuser. I’m also very glad you healed and found yourself, and found a way to use your gifts to help others. Very moving thing to share.

I had a feeling that post might push some buttons. it’s not always easy to take a broader view of events that happen in life; it’s simpler to see things as black and white. Coincidentally, I did a reading yesterday for a woman whose father died when she was young and she was raised by a bad stepfather. She also has Moon square Neptune and she had a lifelong fantasy that she was rescued by her real father which mirrored to some extent what I conjectured could have happened with Jaycee. . A lot of these pedophiles are master manipulators and are able to feed these fantasies that some children hold about being rescued.
It would indeed be interesting to Garrido’s chart, and perhaps I’ll tackle that over the next few days. As Jen says, it’s the little girls that I really feel for.
Patricia, I wonder if you meant that my use of the word “liberation” was NOT as nonsensical as it might sound. And by the way, folks, I do not mean to imply that her abduction was a good thing. Simply that from a spiritual perspective there is always more to these events than meet the eye.
I do though disagree that Uranus squaring the Nodes makes her Uranian. It does show that she will have Uranian experiences, however, and I think we can agree that this falls under that category. Thank you for your point about the progressed Sun (although it was no longer in conjunction to Chiron) – that progressed Sun was approaching an opposition to her natal Uranus and the nodes which suggests a radical life-changing event.

My earlier comments seems to have disappeared.
I don’t think the word “liberating” could ever be applied to an 11-year old being abducted by a rapist. Shocking, sudden, disruptive and unexpected, but not liberating.
Of course the story of her liberation after 18 years of captivity is a big story. Maybe it will even liberate the parole system of the injustice that let Garrido out of prison despite his well-deserved life sentence.

What you’ve said makes perfect sense and sounds to me that due to her “birth chart” all of that is what made it possible for her to survive these past 18 years that is what her chart is telling….

I wish I could get a reading like that for a certain little girl I know.I have been fighting in court for a year to save her from the same kind of abuse but for some reason it seems impossible.the courts fail her,social services fail her,her mother fails her..she has been so brave standing up for her self and the system fails her again and again..now she has lost faith that we can ever help her,lost faith in the police because they said she doesn’t have to go back there and then social services sends her back..I ask myself all the time why God allows it,why can’t we protect her,why is this child doomed ? was she born at a time that guarantees a living hell for a childhood ? she is being ruined now.she is learning to live with it,to lie,to accept it.to trust no one accept the culprits to win this battle..does it all lie in her birth time ?>
