I like Obama - I am grateful he's our president and personally don't buy into the conspiracies, nwo etc. although I understand those that do... but I think this guy is right on the money. Our whole political system is utterly corrupt and I think it must ultimately crumble before we can build something new. I am hopeful that Obama will help guide us through, although I know that he is merely a reflection of what society needs him to be/what we'll allow him to be -
The talk of recovery is baffling to me - the only place I see it is wallstreet - and I don't see how that can last... but hey - I'm just a suburban mom.

I pretty much agree with you, Denise. I have a fantasy that in order to get elected and start making some of the changes in education and foreign policy that he's been implementing he signed a pact with the devil to take on Larry Summers and TIm Geithner and the rest of the Wall Street crowd. It's been a fact of life for centuries that bankers rule the world, and I don't see that as being different now.

And let's not forget that Obama, while still a senator, was very enthusiastic about passing the bailout/TARP legislation last fall. The top guys on both sides (Bush and Obama) were very adamant in how we "had" to do this. And don't forget that McCain made a big phony show of being unsure about voting for it, probably in an attempt to get votes (since the overwhelming majority of the people were against the bill). McCain made a big show of "suspending his campaign" so he could go back to Washington and look over this TARP bill that was so troubling to him. Then, for all the bluster, he signed it anyway.

And don't forget that Glenn Beck, the current "rebel" of choice for many people who are anti-government, supported the bailouts as well.

The point is, ALL of the top figures were for the bailouts that robbed the people. The differences between Bush and Obama are really superficial in that, when it comes down to it, they're both for robbing the people. And supposed "rebel" media watchdogs always heel and toe the line on the big issues, too. Don't forget this; it does NO GOOD to go back and forth between Republican and Democrat every 4 or 8 years, because BOTH parties are equally intent on following the same overall agenda.
