Saturn/Uranus: Revolution in Iran

posted by Lynn Hayes | 7:27am Sunday September 20, 2009

by Lynn Hayes

Just after the opposition between Saturn and Uranus culminated last week, tens of thousands of protesters filled the streets of Tehran on Friday in a rare show of opposition against the pro-Palestinian rhetoric of Iranian president Ahmadinejad whose anti-Israeli speeches on Jerusalem Day gave rise to chants like this one:  ”Not Gaza, Not Lebanon, I’ll sacrifice my life for Iran.”
Tension has been fomenting in Iran since the Iranian elections in June when Ahmadinejad won in a widely disputed landslide over challenger Hussein Moussavi, and we can see the events on the ground reflected in the astrological signatures.  The progressed Sun (national identity) in the chart of Iran last year conjoined Chiron (sensitivity and wounding/healing) at the very top of the chart, the point that we call the Midheaven, the point that represents the national government and its place in the world community.  Iranian dissidents are more and more sensitive now to their place in the global environment, and more and more open in their disdain for the oddly apocalyptic ideas of their President.
We are in the third phase of the opposition between Saturn and Uranus, and this conflict between the desire to return to the safety of the past (Saturn) and the desire for that which is new and revolutionary (Uranus) is clearly seen in the leadership of Ahmadinejad.  He is both a  revolutionary (Uranus) and a reactionary (Saturn), wanting to return to repressive conservative values (Saturn) while blowing Israel off the map (Uranus).  This phase of the opposition of Saturn to Uranus is aspecting exactly Mars in the chart of Iran.  Mars is the warrior – the aggressive instinct that seeks self-preservation and the gratification of desire.  There is a tremendous amount of anger in that country at the moment that will need to find some kind of release.

Thanks Dear Lynn for the update. :)
I wonder what stars & planets have in store for us in next months! It’s really getting interesting here, people don’t show any sign of backing down. they’re patience is overfilled and they long for change, they wont sit back till they complete their unfinished business with this sick dictator. hope the victory comes soon.

Lynn, there is no consensus that he ever said anything about “wiping Israel off the map.” That was a mistranslation, according to Juan Cole, possibly to stir up anti-Iran sentiment:
“Ahmadinejad did not say he was going to wipe Israel off the map because no such idiom exists in Persian,” remarked Juan Cole, a Middle East specialist at the University of Michigan and critic of American policy who has argued that the Iranian president was misquoted. “He did say he hoped its regime, i.e., a Jewish-Zionist state occupying Jerusalem, would collapse.” Since Iran has not “attacked another country aggressively for over a century,” he said in an e-mail exchange, “I smell the whiff of war propaganda.”
What is it about Israel that causes everything that is said about it to turn into hysteria and confusion? Even their holocaust is disputed to have happened the way it is described in the history books. Is Neptune prominent in the country’s birth chart or what?

Dear Kieron,
I’m Iranian and as result I understand what he says, he said exactly that, the word by word translation of what he said becomes like this: Israel should disappear from the scene of life! which in Persian, meaning and impression of it is very much similar to wiping off the map! so kinda the same thing, he didn’t said that he is going to do it, but said that it should happen. and even in his Friday speech he even used the word “World Map”, BUT, genrally he’s just about talking and gaining attention, everyone knows that he can’t do a thing. and the reason that now he is repeating these stuff again is to attract the attention of media over this Israel matter, so that media talks about him, as president of Iran, instead of talking about people of Iran, who say he is NOT our president.
At the end I really don’t understand why Juan Cole said that “totally” wrong statement, that idiom exactly exists in Persian!

What do you mean “their Holocaust” as a studier of German history “their Holocaust” was started by people who were afraid to oppose people who were calling the Jews “Them” and “Their” like you are doing K. The world fought a world war to end Germany’s reign of terror.
Courses in a University helped me to understand Woman’s rights, German History, Philosophy, or simply: Truth. I also took courses on pallistan and the Arabic problem and not once in all those years did I hear the words: “their Holocaust”.

Lynn, I don’t like getting angry at anyone for what they espouse. I feel we elected a President who is extra careful as to the words he uses, because he is intelligent and knows using the wrong word could heat things up. I don’t feel I spoke out in error, because to give attention to anger these days causes more anger. But some times people are raised with attitudes that in the end won’t help solve anything so I lean on the great saying: “If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem”. Thank You.

Kieron, my good friend: I personally can verify that the holocaust did indeed happen, because my grandmother’s entire family was wiped out in the concentration camps. This includes her parents and her siblings. The holocaust is no fantasy, nor is it an illusion.
I’m no big supporter of Israel, as you know. Even when I was a kid in the late 1960sI used to have huge fights with my pro-Israel mother, because I could see what was happening over there. Jewish people had huge blinders on regarding the Palestinians because of the horrors of what happened during the war.
Your quotation of Juan Cole left out his actual translation, which says: “The Imam said that this regime occupying Jerusalem (een rezhim-e eshghalgar-e qods) must [vanish from] the page of time (bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad).[11]
“Wiped off the map” or “vanish from the page of time”, it seems pretty much the same to me.
That said, while I think Ahmadinejad is a religious fanatic and therefore unfit to rule a country, I don’t see how the US or any other country can tell Iran it can’t have nuclear weapons when other countries have them and are ready to use them. I can understand why these countries don’t WANT Iran to have a nuclear weapon, and I certainly agree. But if you put yourself in the shoes of an Iranian (Amir, perhaps you can jump in here), there is a matter of national pride here. When the West allows not only Israel but also India and Pakistan to have nuclear weapons, it’s no wonder Iran wants them too.

MWF – I agree and that’s why I try to keep anger out of our discussions here. I think it’s fantastic to have so many diverse views espoused by intelligent people so that we can see a variety of perspectives. That’s what solves problems – not arguments that can lead nowhere.

Hi Lynn,
In light of the Iranian President Ahmadinejad’s recent statements, declaring that the Iranian nuclear issue was considered non-negotiable in all future talks makes it obvious that additional international sanctions levied on Iran will not work. Israel’s diplomatic efforts to deter Iran from acquiring the ‘islamic bomb’, in political terms have failed.
Last week, Iran had been cited by the UN’s IAEA agency to have achieved ‘breakout capacity’, which in layman’s terms essentially means Iran has enough uranium material for one bomb if it chooses to pursue a weaponisation of its nuclear material. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has repeatedly stressed that that will not be allowed to happen under any circumstances. The next few months are crucial, injecting a heightened sense of urgency to Israel’s over-all strategy. Israel may have no choice but to take matters into their own hands.
But the question remains when? According to Israeli military intelligence, the unofficial time-table for action seems to correlate with that recent UN report mentioned above. The buzz is, if no resolution is reached, Israel will take action before the year is out. Ephraim Sneh, Israel’s former deputy defence minister (until 2007) was actually more specific than that. He was quoted in a September 17th news article stating that matters may come to a head in two months time:
“…..We believe that Iran has the capacity and the delivery capability for nuclear weapons. They can proceed to production. We have got two months to act – before the end of 2009.” Refer to the following article….
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/israel/6199002/Israel-will-attack-Iran-this-year-if-West-does-not-cripple-Tehran-with-sanctions.html
If we are to take those comments literally, the logical time-frame for an Israeli attack against Iran would have to take place under the cover of darkness during the New Moon phase of November 15-16, which remarkably enough happens to coincide within hours of the exact Saturn-Pluto square.
The tell-tale signs of conflict are unmistakeable. The astrological points of contact are as follows: The 24 Scorpio New Moon forms a t-square to tr. Neptune (23 Aquarius) and the Israeli Sun (23 Taurus). The Scorpio New Moon trines the near stationary Uranus (22 Pisces), in quincunx to Israel’s natal Uranus (24 Gemini) and in sextile/trine to the tr. nodes (24 Cancer-Capricorn). I have to be candid here. I’m not adept enough to analyze the particulars in minute detail, but suffice to say, with the nodes denoting a fated aspect, Israel’s identity (natal Sun) and its physical survival (Neptune) is being overtly threatened. Factoring in those Uranian elements just mentioned, unfolding developments in the mid east region suggests to me that an eruption of conflict would most likely be sudden.
The Saturn-Pluto square (1 ’42 Libra-1 ’42 Capricorn) hits key natal aspects. What is most striking is its precise semi-square/ sesqui-square to Israel’s natal Saturn (16 ’25 Leo) and Iran’s ascendant (17 ’16 Leo). The Israeli Saturn conjunct Iran’s ascendent degree reflects unresolved hostility. The Saturn-Pluto square at harsh angles will no doubt exacerbate those tensions. Noting the Pluto Saturn energies involved, I wouldn’t be surprised if the situation spins out of control engulfing other countries in the region. The US midheaven, maintains a pivotal position here (1 ’57 Libra). It is right at the epicenter of this activity. President Obama is equally involved (natal Venus at 1 ’47 Cancer). In the past, which includes the precipitation of World War Two, the Saturn-Pluto square often is a major component for war.
If oil supplies in the Persian Gulf are disrupted as a result, the economic repercussions could be massive. The Saturn-Pluto square is also involved in its t square to the Federal Reserve’s natal Sun (1 ’17 Capricorn) Pluto (0 ’05 Cancer) opposition. Pluto’s transit conjoining the Fed’s Sun in harsh square to Saturn could signal its demise or at the very least, a dramatic restructuring.
Mars, an indicator of war, at 13 Leo in the Scorpio New Moon chart will be activating the August 6th lunar eclipse (13 Aquarius). Glancing at the Mars transit to natal aspects, it conjoins Israel’s Pluto (12 Leo) and Obama’s natal Sun (12 Leo). It is interesting to note, Mars will also be sesqui-squaring the March 19, 2007 Solar Eclipse-Pluto square (28 Pisces-Sag). Nancy Sommers wrote an extensive article on this 3/19/07 eclipse and how it directly affects Iran…
http://www.themetaarts.com/2007july/nancysommers.html
The Scorpio New Moon in trine to the near stationary Uranus at 22 Pisces (the degree of Obama’s natal Uranus located in his eighth house) may indicate sudden, unexpected conditions that could jeopardise his safety. It will also be activating the US Mars-Neptune square.
In summation, as many astrologers are pointing out, the developing Pluto-Saturn-Uranus t square in the next year or so could prove to be a turbulent time for our country and the world at large. And as Barbara Hand Clow observed “Since Pluto exactly squares the Sun during this Fall Equinox (which occurs right after the third Saturn/Uranus opposition on September 15), this fall is the real beginning of the great changes on Earth.”
From an astrological point of view, we are traversing the final chapter in the Saturn-Pluto square/opposition series that began in 1982. For an interesting review of the synastry of these two great outer planets, I would highly recommend David Crook’s excellent article The Saturn Pluto Cycle…..
http://stellarinsights108.blogspot.com/2008/09/saturn-pluto-cycle.html
My personal feeling about all this, is that if indeed we are at a milestone of sorts; standing at the threshold of radical change, although it appears we may be venturing haphazardly into the vast unknown and that might be disconcerting for some, I think there is a deeper purpose behind it. Apparent difficulties and challenges that humanity faces may be a necessary step towards the renewal and resurgence of the spiritual inner life. A much different approach, a decidedly deeper insightful vision of things is being asked of us.

Lynn, I quite agree with almost everything you said and appreciate your comment about the suffering of the people of Palestine, but the blinkers are still there. As for my comment “their holocaust” I simply must say, as they say in Israel: There’s no business like Shoah business. And what about my people’s holocaust? Famines that were allowed to happen on purpose (Ireland’s potato famine) and bombings that were calculated to wipe out millions (Dresden, Germany). This doesn’t even the consider the other holocausts the world over, including the one right here in North America of the original inhabitants.
Who gets to determine which holocaust is the most important? That’s what gets my goat.

The symbolism of astrology comes into play here. There esists a fascinating polarity between the two. Ahmadinejad has natal Mars at 15 Pisces in exact opposition to Netanyahu’s natal Saturn (15 Virgo). Essentially there is an inherent Mars (beligerence/ war) in Pisces (representative of crude oil?) versus Saturn (contraction) in Virgo (meticulously demanding) opposition that makes them classic, formidable adversaries. They are merely acting out their personal roles for the benefit of a wider audience on the world stage. Whoever writes these scripts has got to have a great sense of humor.

Ahmadinejad in this quote was saying that “The Imam said that this regime…” not that Ahmadinejad is an Imam. I think we can all agree with your last statement, except I personally think that the major powers will be quite happy leaving this dispute fomenting in the middle east, I don’t see that it will spread.

With the not so surprising disclosure of a second secret uranium enrichment plant in Natanz, Iran overnight, the leaders of France, UK and the US presently meeting at the G20 Pittsburgh issued issued statements this morning, essentially throwing down the gauntlet that Iran will need to be more forthcoming and transparent in its scheduled upcoming October negotiations or else face increasing isolation and additional sanctions. The diplomatic maneuvering for a political resolution on Iran’s nuclear program has all but been exhausted. With the Autumnal Equinox square Pluto of Sept 22nd, this appears to be the final chapter when the crisis evolves in earnest at the time of the Saturn-Pluto square of November 15th. Israel’s unspoken threat that it may have to act before the year is out is fast becoming a reality.
A casual glance at the last Israeli pre-emptive strike involving Iraq’s Osirak nuclear installation on June 7, 1981 shows striking astrological similarities. Refer to the following article on the events of the 1981 Israeli strike called Operation Opera: http://www.angelfire.com/art2/narod/opera/ ………..
2 pm local time September 7, ’81 – Venus (2 ’40 Cancer) squares the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction ((0 ’37/ 3 ’0 Libra) with Israel’s natal Saturn right at the midpoint (16 ’25 Leo). The Jupiter/Saturn conj. seemed to ensure the strike’s success. The November 15, ’09 Saturn-Pluto square will once again be activating those very same degrees, but the very nature of that square indicates it may be much more significant and complex.

Typo correction to the above post. Please read instead: “….meeting at the G20 Pittsburgh summit issued statements this morning…”
One additional thought if I may; Iraq’s invasion of Iran on September 22, 1980 occurred just as Mars at 16 Scorpio squared Iran’s natal Ascendant (17 Leo) and in semi-square to the Sun/Saturn conjunction at 0 Libra. The November 15th Saturn Pluto square will be activating those degrees indicating some kind of violent confrontation regarding nuclear issues (Pluto).

Hi Lynn, I’ve been using the chart for the return of Ayatollah Khomeini on February 1, 1979, 9:30 am, Tehran. The chart itself very well describes the Republic, and the transits to it now so accurately time current events. Transiting Pluto has been crossing the Midheaven at 02cap06. Venus at 25sag28 is being squared by the Saturn Uranus Opposition.
The hard aspects by transit continue into next year, with Pluto squaring the Ascendant of 03ari37, and Uranus conjuncting, Saturn opposing the Ascendant: http://funkastrology.co.uk/blog2/?p=359

To the above poster…. Although there may be some validity to the Feb 1, ’79 chart for the reason you cited, it’s important to note Iran does not observe its national public holiday (when banks and government offices are closed) on February 1st, but rather on April 1st. That is the date in 1979 when Iran voted by national referendum to become an Islamic Republic. April 1st is recognized by the Iranian govt as the official birth-date of their nation. Most mundane astrologers are inclined to view the day of Ayatollah Khomein’s return to Iran on Feb 1st as a secondary, ‘conceptional’ chart.

Glancing at Iran’s April 1st chart for any noticeable developments in Iran in the near term, Pres. Obama’s two week deadline to Iran yesterday in Geneva (Oct 1) to allow IAEA inspectors into its recently revealed second uranium enrichment facility at Qom coincides right at the time of the Oct. 13th Jupiter station (17 ’10 Aq), precisely on Iran’s descendant (17 ’16 Aq) and in opposition to tr. Vesta (17 ’47 Leo) on its ascendant. Vesta symbolises anything related to national safety/security and investments/insurance issues. Going by past behaviour, it would seem likely Iran will hedge, resorting to its usual delaying tactics. The Jupiter station and its effects on the US chart is delineated by Jude Cowell here:
http://judecowell.wordpress.com/2009/08/14/jupiter-direct-station-in-aq-10-13-09/
Leading up to the crucial Nov 15th Scorpio New Moon mentioned earlier, the November 2nd Taurus Full Moon at 10 ’30 Taurus exactly conjoins the Iranian Midheaven/Nadir (10 ’32 Taurus/Scorpio). I think this is when a final ultimatum to Iran is probable. Neptune at 23 Aq goes stationary on Nov 6th in square to Israel’s natal Sun. Lots of clandestine activity going on behind the scenes.
I’ve been eyeing the November 11th aspects for some time. Mars at 10/11 Leo will be squaring the Nov 2nd Full Moon. It’s possible some kind of ‘false flag’ terror attack against Israel and/ or the US will take place on this day that will warrant an Israeli miltary response; a possible strike on Iran during the Nov 15th New Moon.
Most telling, in the late evening hours of the 11th, the Moon at 22 Virgo conjoins Obama’s natal Mars and the US natal Neptune opposite a near stationary Uranus and Juno (22 Pisces). Based on research done by noted astrologer Mark Lerner, asteroid Juno is often associated with terror activity.
