Birthday request: My solar return

posted by Lynn Hayes | 6:42am Monday October 12, 2009

sun.gifI’m going to be off on Monday the 12th for my birthday, and my solar return is at 4:44 pm which if you’ve been following my Facebook updates is pretty hilarious.  For the past few months I’ve been seeing repeating numbers everywhere.

At any rate, if any of my astrologer friends feel like giving me a gift perhaps you might like to take a stab at my solar return chart which I’ve posted here.  My natal chart is here.  With Pluto conjunct my  Mars in the return chart it looks like I’ll be developing my Will (Mars) all year.  Geez, I thought I was done with Pluto!  And Jupiter in the return chart making a square to natal Jupiter should be interesting.
(To my non-professional readers, the solar return is the time when the Sun returns to its place in your birthchart.  The chart for this event can be used to get a sense of the energies that await us in the coming year.)
Take a stab if you like – I’ll be back Tuesday with more exciting astrological news!

Neptune in Pisces and the question of reality
Neptune just slipped back into Pisces where it will remain until 2025.  Neptune's role in the astrological pantheon is to cause us to question where the physical world ends and a more transcendent reality begins.  It therefore rules our spiritual experience, but it can also be confusing and induce

Lynn
I want to wish you a happy birthday. I stumbled on your site by accident and I started listing to you on itunes pod cast. I was interested to see your chart, and may I say that you look much younger than your years. My husband is born Dec 14th 1952, so I am familiar with that lovely Saturn, Neptune conjunction in your natal chart. You seem to have the added good fortune of having your Sun right on the midpoint. Let’s just say you have had a few lessons in the relationship department.
I don’t usually use solar returns; I much prefer a progressed solar arc. I noticed when I ran yours that your Solar Arc Pluto is at 20 degrees Libra right on the midpoint between your Sun and Neptune. Next year it will conjunct your natal Neptune. Maybe some deep spiritual work is at hand. Two years ago your SA Pluto was conjunct your natal Saturn. That would have meant some monetary difficulties or maybe health issues. Maybe it was the end of your formal (real) job. I also noticed that Transiting Pluto is sitting right on your Mars. Lots of controlled focused energy coming your way. When I had Pluto Opposite my mars I was exposed to dangerous stuff at work. I work for the Post Office, the building tested positive for anthrax and we all had to take Cipro for a while.
Your progressed solar arc (SA) Mercury is at 29 Sag conjunct that Mars. This should be very good for expressing yourself in a controlled way. Mercury Sag is not controlled but that Mars in Cap is very controlled in what they do. Let’s say you are a free thinker but a controlled doer or speaker. My free flowing, rapid fire, put foot in mouth approach would probably make you cringe. If you weren’t such a lady with all that Libra it could bring a sarcastic tone, but I have not noticed that with you. That is usually my forte. Your SA Moon is at 11 Libra which will be getting that transiting Saturn conjunction Nov 2010. I don’t need to tell you not a warm and fuzzy time. Your SA Mars is at 27 Aquarius soon to be getting a piece of that Neptune-Uranus-Chiron conjunction. I think this aspect and the SA Pluto conj Neptune is all about the work you are doing on the web and with the radio, it’s like spiritual food for the masses. PS that SA progressed Mars is also conjunct your midheaven getting that Neptune-Uranus-Chrion conjunction, yet another theme of a career of spiritual healing and food for the masses. Keep up the good work. It you want to see a chart that is about to explode take a look at mine. I am currently in a holding pattern building steam and waiting for the Sh#@ it hit the fan.

Hi Lynn – Happy Sun trine Aquarius Solar return. Great that there’s an exact Venus conjunct Saturn sextile Mars. Should be a most productive year! I suspect your will power coupled with patience and discipline will be all there is to say. The Moon should help you define your direction with more style when you get over the challenge represented by the aspect between it and Saturn. Productive year of closures, rewards, endings, and preparation.

Lynn -
Well no wonder I resonate so much with you – our Ascendants are about 2 degrees apart! Your chart is very interesting. I don’t do a LOT with solar returns but I did notice several things with yours. I think it will be an ineresting career year – the ruler of your natal 10th (Uranus) is the Solar 1st. Of course opposing (weaker, but still there) Saturn and Venus in the 7th. 3 planets in the solar 7th – but that’s a big erratic dude they’re squaring off against. Me, I’d bet on Uranus mixing it up with your sense of self. meanwhile in the solar 10th you’ve got Pluto. so yeah, i DO think it will be a career year. But once again – it ties back to the solar 7th. Will Rich get involved in your business (maybe he already is)? Pluto is in Cap and Saturn (‘ruler’ of Capricorn) is in the 7th. Andthat, of course ties back to Uranus.
However, the 7th house is pretty key for you this year too. The ruler of your natal Ascendant (Mercury ‘rules’ Gemini) is there. So is the ruler of the solar 10th as mentioned and the ruler of your natal sun (venus ‘rules’ Libra). Seems a lot of emphasis on marriage. and/or business partnerships as well as career.
With 3 of the 4 angles lit up, it should be an eventful year.
I also noted that the moon is back in Leo – your natal placement so it may be a year in which you feel more at home within yourself. I see the moon as many things but the phrase I like best for Luna is one I nabbed from Yeats “the deep heart’s core”. Back in Leo you might feel your game is more ‘on’. And moon is in – you got it – a work house, the 6th (do you think you’ll have any time for the hammered dulcimer?).
Natally you have Jupiter in the 12th and a huge 12th house so the gang of 3 queued up in the solar 12th probably won’t spook you as much as some of us more analytical types. This powerful conjunction of neptune, jupiter & chiron is trining your natal and solar sun (which, you and I know but all your readers may not, are always the same degree – that’s what a solar return chart is).
I’m never sure what orbs to use on solar charts – were it a natal I’d give the luminaries a 10 degree orb and would say that moon opposes Jupiter. But on a solar chart i might be less generous with orbs – so the jury is out on that one.
Pluto is squaring Mercury – again uniting career/marriage and more than of passing note as Merc is the ruler of your natal ascendant. With your natal mercury in scorpio only sextiling Mars it hasn’t been a powerful ascendant ruler by aspect natally. Solar merc makes an out of sign conjunction to Saturn – adding some gravitas, I would say. AND it squares Pluto. Powerful, foundational words. Not surprising you have a book coming out. Perhaps a year to write another one?
I would say that tuning in to the zeitgeist with those 12th house solar return planets (and natal Jupiter) – perhaps through meditation/dreamwork, and then being a transformative (Pluto) change-agent (Uranus) through powerful words (that strongly aspected Mercury) might be ‘in the cards’. WEre it me, I’d consciously look to see how to integrate my needs to be unique (Uranus in the first), my marriage (Venus, Saturn and Merc in the 7th, all making important points) and that very strong impactful career energy.
With moon in Leo in the 6th don’t go so nuts that you stress your heart (Leo). And bring play (Leo) to your day-to-day work.
Sounds like a good year, Lynn. “Sail on silver girl, sail on by – your time has come to shine – all your dreams come this way – see how they shine…” — Paul Simon and me.
Happy birthday!
Diane

Happy Belated Birthday, Lynn! Here’s to the best year ahead yet!
I was struck by Venus-Saturn conjunct in the 7th sextile Mars in the 5th too. That bodes very well for both your partnerships in general and for creative projects with a partner in particular.
For some reason, my Solar Return this year has an 8th house Sun, Pisces rising w/Uranus in the first, Saturn & Venus in the 7th & Pluto in the tenth. Public recognition as astrologers or eccentrics?! :::grin:::
I do feel with Saturn moving into Libra, Libras everywhere are going to be called on to stay centered and impartial, no matter the provocation. Interesting times for all of us.

A belated happy solar return to you, Lynn. Your writings have been a bright spot for me since I first discovered them, and they’ve inspired me — along with others’ nudgings — to start my own blog. (Having Sun conj Mercury plus Moon in the 3rd in MY solar return this year may have had something to do with it.)
Since it’s evident that you do your work, I expect primarily an intense and productive partnership for you, to go with Pluto on Mars. You go, girl!

My birthday is October 13. Jupiter at 17 degrees Aquarius is a close trine to the Sun and Jupiter is Stationary/Direct motion on this day as well (could be a prosperous year? Hopefully eh?). Venus conjunct Saturn and both sextile to Mars could be an interesting year.
