If you’ve watched any TV over the past week, chances are you’ve seen the trailer for the new 2012 movie starring John Cusack. The special effects in this trailer are absolutely incredible, and it appears this will be a really terrifying movie. It’s a joke in my house that I can’t watch a movie unless it’s rated PG, and I think I’ll have to skip this one until it comes to the small screen in my house where I can fast forward through the scary parts. Which might be all of it.
For some reasons humans love to scare themselves, and nowhere is this more true than in the doomsday business. You may remember 1999 when we were sure all of the power grids were going to collapse because of the way digits were recorded in computers. For thousands of years humans have been predicting the end of the world, and now the famous Mayan calendar will end on December 12, 2012.
Maybe it’s the Saturn that sits right on my Sun, but I tend to be a bit skeptical about many of these things so
I was glad to see this article about a Mayan Indian elder who pooh-poohs the idea that the world will end next year.
Saturn will enter Libra at the end of this month and will form a square to Pluto that will closely align in early November, just in time to see this frightening movie about the end of all civilizations on earth which is being released on November 13. Coincidentally, the exact square from Saturn to Pluto peaks on the 15th.
When the Lord of Karma (Saturn) and and the Lord of Death (Pluto) collide t can shake people up. The last time they met was between August and November of 2001 and you might remember the events that occurred then. Certainly there was change and fear ruled the land. Their previous meeting in 1973 and 1974 was less eventful, but the opening square of Saturn to Pluto in 1982 resulted in widespread economic recession, and the opposition of Saturn to Pluto in 2005 which included Uranus was also quite powerful and created some major changes.
When Uranus enters Aries next year it will begin to align with Saturn and Pluto just as it did in 1965, although the full impact won’t be felt until 2011. In the meantime you can enjoy the thrill ride of this film trailer.

“The guy’s an actor, he’s reading a script.” LMAO
Wow, aside from the bad Austrian accent, that looks pretty good! Personally, I love being scared so I just may see in in the theatre.
As for 2012 being the end of the world, I doubt it means earthquakes, fire and floods; probably more like a major paradigm shift. Which is a good thing.

Hi Lynn,
Thanks for your blog as always!-Grace
It would be interesting to see if anything really unique is going on astrologically for 12/21/12. The interpretations are so varaiable, from some predicting the magnetic poles are going to switch, to some calling for a spiritual awakening on the largest scale. In any event, almost all the theorists on this issue seem to point to a great transofrmation of the world as we know it. Does this reveal itself astrologically? My birthday falls on this day, so I am thinking of having an end of the world party:)

LOL
I never was one to scare myself. Since seeing the trailer on TV I vowed that I wouldn’t see the movie…large or small screen. I can’t even bring myself to watch the trailer you posted.
LOL

Another manifestation of the approaching Saturn-Pluto square can be the unmasking of some rather questionable spiritual enterprises that are really money making ventures in disguise. 2012 has become a commercial success, the subject of many books. People are vulnerable to exploitation. There are many astute entrepeneurs all too willing to cash in on the ‘spiritual wave’.
One recent poignant example….. the author of the popular book and video entitled “The Secret” had it all; fame and money. Unfortunately, charging ten thousand dollars per person for a five day retreat in Arizona at this particular juncture is nothing less than pure unmitigated greed. Things finally caught up with him. The Pluto-Saturn square can be ones undoing….

Mar – I’m with you!
Grace, there isn’t an astrological correlation to the 12/21/12 Solstice event that connects to the Mayan calendar.
Jerry, thanks for posting that connection. It’s a very sad story.

“the Doomsday business.” Good one! And yeah, we’re wired for it.

Not even my two-decade-long adoration of John Cusack is enough to make me sit through this movie.

Maybe they should have done the prequel thing and called it “WATERWORLD BEGINS” instead. They could have just cast Kevin Costner as the hero. With a budget of 260 Million I hope their ad campaign or 4 Million will inspire at least a 100 million people to wonder into theater or this will end up being another financial “Disaster” movie instead.
I am guessing if this film is anything like his last ones you might show up an hour into the film and catch all of the cool FX in the last hour, because the first hour will feel like a long trip on a greyhound bus. There is a another film coming out at the same time called DEFCON 2012 with a sci-fi storyline which sounds more interesting to me.

I didn’t see mention of the conjunct in 1982 which began this current cycle.

Good point Nancy, I’ve written on the 1982 conjunction in two posts since this article but I went ahead and corrected this one to reflect it. Thanks for keeping me on my toes!
