Astrological Musings

And they think people who believe in astrology are crazy…

Neptune in Pisces and the question of reality
Neptune just slipped back into Pisces where it will remain until 2025.  Neptune's role in the astrological pantheon is to cause us to question where the physical world ends and a more transcendent reality begins.  It therefore rules our spiritual experience, but it can also be confusing and induce

There have always been Millenariasts and I suppose always will be until there are no longer humans around to think that way. What gets me is that they always think THEY’LL be saved and everyone else will perish. Not only current cinema but also The History Channel have irresponsibly been promoting this stuff. It is irresponsible–not to mention divisive–because it could so easily become a self-fulfilling prophecy. I’d say “the Devil take zealots of every stripe” if I didn’t believe that the devil had already taken them. So I’ll say instead, “God/Goddess forgive them, for they know not what they do,” and pray that they’ll be redeemed into a vision of all people living in harmony with the Earth. But it’s probably too late. We’ll probably all suffocate from CO2 levels of 390+ before we ever get around to all blowing each other up.

What is it with christian being so obsessed with war and the end of times, Israel has been at war for ever, now is no different. No war is a good thing for any part of this earth, or any religion!
Hey, Jesus called and he wants his religion back.
I believer he was quoted to say: Love one another
Fundamental christians, all have flunked -F- common sense and humanity class.
Read the first 4 chapters again

Has anyone stopped to ask what Jesus would have done?? I seem to remember something about love, peace, caring for your neighbor, yada yada yada… I think I heard someone in the video say “The war in Iraq is actually good for Christians” I can’t believe it.
I love this quote…”I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ”
Don’t remember who said it but it’s never been said better.
Amen

We’ll probably all suffocate from CO2 levels of 390+ before we ever get around to all blowing each other up.
Samudra, that statement is utterly ridiculous. First, carbon dioxide (CO2) doesn’t suffocate. Carbon monoxide (CO) does, hence the need for CO monitors in homes in the winter. Second, plants and trees inhale CO2 and exhale oxygen (O), thereby benefiting all things that require oxygen to live. If and when CO2 levels rise, plants increase because there is more “food” for them, in a sense, and they will produce more O. There was a study that just recently showed aspen trees are increasing in number, possibly due to rising CO2.
People are really flinging themselves off this ideological cliff when it comes to the role of carbon dioxide, and taking common sense over the edge with them, it appears.

Kieron, the fact that CO1 suffocates us doesn’t mean that CO2 doesn’t. Yes, plants DO inhale CO2 and exhale oxygen; that’s why the destruction of the rain forest is so worrisome–fewer plants to replenish the oxygen. Humans need oxygen to breathe, and a few more aspens don’t make up for several million fewer acres of rain forest. Core samples show that the level of CO2 in the atmosphere was about 275 for the ten thousand years prior to the beginning of the industrial age. Scientists estimated that 350 ppm was the tipping point, and now with 390 ppm are astonished that we’re still alive. Well, scientists have been wrong before. I’m just not optimistic, although I continue to try to reduce my carbon footprint. The real question is: are YOU looking forward to “Armageddon”?

The destruction of the Amazon rainforest is equivalent to decimating the lungs of the planet. It’s happening now. That’s only one way that the carbon sinks are being destroyed. In addition to huge emissions, and destructions of the carbon sinks, we are really playing with fire. Please don’t repeat the tripe about plants just creating more O2 and we’ll all go on our merry way. Those systems are maxed and being destroyed as we speak.

Mike, re: plants create more oxygen so that we can go on our merry way of destruction etc. Surprise! Mean ol’ Kieron agrees with you: Air pollution, smog, exhaust, factory emissions, toxic waste dumps, rainforest slash-and-burn, etc. is totally dangerous, short-sighted and needs to stop. What I was addressing was Samudra’s inaccurate comment on CO2, and only that inaccurate comment, so please don’t put words in my mouth or turn it into something else entirely.
Samudra, see the last line above. If you wanted to discuss rainforest destruction as part of the CO2 equation, then you should have mentioned that in the first place. (BTW there’s no such thing as CO1. If there is only one atom, the element remains un-numbered. For example, CO2 has two oxygen atoms in the molecule called carbon dioxide, and only one carbon atom.)

Yeah, Kieron, you’re right; it’s not called CO1, just CO. But my point was merely that we’ll probably kill ourselves by changing the climate before we blow ourselves up. And whether it’s by means of global warming, CO2, methane, desertification, or whatever, I can’t predict. So why are you angry at me for feeling hopeless?
