Charlie Sheen’s latest marital woes

The relationship problems of Charlie Sheen, a well-known American actor who has been acclaimed for his roles in such films as Platoon and Wall Street and in TV sitcoms Spin City and Two and a Half Men, have been well-documented.  n 1990 his engagement to actress Kelly Preston ended after he accidentally shot her in the arm and then left her for porn star Ginger Lynn.  In 1996 he was arrested for attacking a girlfriend at his home, for which he received probation. He was named in the Heidi Fleiss prostitution scandal and was hospitalized for a cocaine overdose in 1998.  His marriage to Denise Richards (2002-2005) and subsequent divorce were fraught with charges of Sheen’s abusive behavior.
Now Sheen has been arrested for “felony menacing” at his home in Aspen as the result of a 911 call from his wife, Brooke Mueller.  Mueller accused Sheen of attacking her with a knife, but police records show that she was legally drunk with a .13 alcohol reading.  Sheen told authorities that he had been defending himself against his wife.  Mueller later recanted her accusation and is no longer speaking to police at the time of this article.
Charlie Sheen is one of those “radical Virgos” whose dramatic behavior belie the typical characteristics of the Virgo Sun sign whose natives tend to be rather reticent and modest.  You would never think of a Virgo as having a penchant for porn and gambling.
Sheen is one of the “Uranus/Pluto” generation who were born between 1962 and 1968 when Uranus (radical change) and Pluto (death and rebirth) were conjunct in the sky.  This entire generation has a thirst for breaking down barriers (Uranus) in order to rebuild something that has become stale and dysfunctional (Pluto), and for Sheen this hunger is even more intense because his Sun is a part of that conjunction.  In addition, Chiron (emotional wounding and sensitivity) is conjunct oppressive Saturn in his chart, signifying a deep well of emotional pain within him that never quite disappears.  This is a powerful combination of planets that require a fair amount of self-understanding to master, and sometimes that process takes a lifetime.
Sheen’s Moon is part of this configuration, and it falls in the expansive and happy-go-lucky sign of Sagittarius.  This complicates matters for Sheen, since it makes it more difficult to do the solid emotional work that a conjunction of Saturn to Chiron demands.  The Sagittarius Moon often prefers to take the easy way out and flee the scene rather than dig into the dirt of the emotional stress that follows him everywhere.
This process must have been extremely difficult over the past year as transiting Saturn opposed Saturn in his chart, passing over his Sun in the process and setting off this whole dynamic.
Sheen’s sexuality is evident in the chart with Mars, planet of aggression and desire, in the sign of Scorpio which is an intensely sexual sign.  The sexuality of Scorpio is intense and dramatic and not at all polite.  Mars is the ancient ruler of Scorpio and represents the pure desire found in that sign, but Scorpio’s modern ruler is Pluto, awakening the individual to the call of the Soul that lies within the purely physical desire.  Individuals with Mars in Scorpio are really seeking the Soul through the act of sex, although that isn’t always evident to them. This need to go deeper through sexuality is also seen in the fact that Sheen’s Sagittarius Moon falls in the Eighth House of Scorpio.
This duality is complicated even further by Gemini on the ascendant.  Gemini is famous for experimentation and flirtation, and even though a part of Sheen’s psyche craves the intense dramatic sexuality that a porn star can probably deliver, another part of him desires the freedom to be able to pass through many different experiences (Gemini ascendant) while keeping his heart free (Sagittarian Moon).  At the same time his Virgo Sun craves order and respectability, yet it conjoins Uranus and Pluto which instills an intensely rebellious nature.
Sheen is a complex array of personalities locked up in one human being.  As an actor, he is able to identify with each of the different parts of himself through the roles that he plays, but at a certain point he has to figure out who he himself really is.

How interestingly that many virgos have been pushed to the forefront (Michael Jackson, Tiger Woods, Beyonce, Charlie Sheen) … are we to expect more with virgos. What do you see in the stars?

Hi Shadow, could you please expand on what you mean by that? What exactly are you trying to say?

He seems like a person who is really suffering, despite all his fame and wealth. Drugs, porn, the string of failed relationships don’t indicate a person “breaking boundaries” to me, rather a person being destroyed by compulsive and addictive behavior.

Lynn: this is one of those cases where the analysis of the chart SO does not interest me. The guy is an abuser, and does not deserve our attention. I would be more interested in why the current wife, knowing his history, even got involved with him. That’s some self-destruction going on there as well.

Hi Lynn, excellent post as always. I wonder, however, if it’s ever possible to ‘figure out’ who we are. I think, over time and with diligent observation we can identify the patterns, subconscious or conscious operating in our lives, and choose to positively integrate them to the best of our ability. But truly know who we are? While our egos are heavily invested in such an endeavour, I don’t think it’s achievable. This is where a Human Design perspective is useful, since, in the natal bodygraph generated for an individual, one looks to see if the G or ‘Self’ Centre is defined or undefined. If defined, that person has a consistent ‘sense’ of self. If undefined or open, s/he ‘is’ whoever the present environment suggests them to be. Ultimately we are expansive beings, and we can expect whatever we learn of ourselves to change. That is part of our mystery.

Shadow, of course an astrological analysis would never be used in court. However, people rarely do things just because they are “bad,” and I find it helpful to look at the underlying psychological dynamics. Which, Julie, is exactly why this profile interests me so much. What makes someone who has been given so much talent and the good fortune to have been born into a family that made the industry more accessible to him, squander his gifts so recklessly? Dismissing someone as simply an abuser eliminates the opportunity to learn more about human behavior. A friend of mine in AA said, “It’s not an excuse, it’s an explanation.” This is why I like to profile these folks.

I want to thank you Lynn from a non-astrologer for all your searches in to the psyches of those we look up to. The work you do is informative, a great read, and entertaining.
As we speak people are getting rich doing damage control for people like Tiger Wood, and Charlie Sheen, and even poor Micheal who’s estate is making more money now that he is dead. I guess life’s lessons may wake up Tiger and Sheen. Tiger’s camp was waiting for this shoe to fall so Tiger can get a break from the media.
All thanks to that Dutch hero who saved that plane from blowing up, and a Happy New Years to all your readers.

So, what about the rest of us messed up Virgos who were born in those years during the 1060′s- like Sheen? Is there any hope at all for us?

I am with V here. I was born in the ’60s too with the Uranus/Pluto conjunction. Should I just give it up since everything I do is just going to be “stale and dysfunctional”? I also have Mars in Scorpio, so I guess it is true…I am not polite at all.

Those years between 1965 and 1968 or so were the most difficult because you had Saturn and Chiron conjunct each other and lining up in opposition to Uranus Pluto. For Charlie Sheen it’s a nearly exact opposition and his Sun is right there. I have had lots of clients with this same configuration, and while their life has not been easy, they have not been in this kind of trouble. Each of us has a different experience depending upon (1) our innate wisdom, (2) the environment in which we grew up, and (3) the environment in which we find ourself. For someone like Charlie Sheen, who has had virtually no boundaries and so many opportunities, there has probably not been too many obstacles to force him to turn within and pursue a life of self-discovery like my brilliant clients. :)

There is a strong case for Chiron being the co-ruler of Virgo, because Virgo’s come in two distinct flavours- the “quiet, fastidious cave dweller” and the “charismatic chameleon” type – a Chiron-ruled Virgo. If we dare go beyond the conventional keywords (watch out, here comes Saturn lol) for Chiron of “wounded healer” and open-mindedly apply ones like “Charismatic” and Chameleon”, the light begins to dawn. Charlie Sheen is a Chiron-ruled Virgo. Some centaurs are “party animals” (Sheen) and others sit wisely and quietly and contemplatively in their caves, healing their wounds, and putting things right with the world and themselves (turning dysfunctionality into functionality, which is the highest purpose of the Virgo). Of course Sheen’s Sagittarian moon helps him along with the party animal variety quite nicely thank-you!.
Here are some other examples of charismatic Chiron Virgo’s- to add weight to my perceptions and opinions.
Sean Connery is another charismatic Chiron Virgo, and so is actress Shelley Long (she is the lovely lady who played Diane in the long- running (excuse the pun) television series Cheers).
Also, if we look at the “shadow” side of Virgo (Pisces, its opposite sign), Sheen’s character traits and behaviour much more resemble a Piscean fish swimming rapidly downstream than a functional, orderly Virgo (its amazing how the signs balance each other out – we need contrast to define ourselves).
Getting back to the “wounded healer” nature of Chiron, at least Sheen shot Kelly Preston in the arm instead of himself in the foot! ( you will have to try to excuse my inexcusable sense of humour).
Side note: Peter Falk, who played Colombo in the television series many years ago, is also a charismatic Chiron Virgo, who limps due to an injury (or birth defect – I’m not sure which) to one foot.

Did ya hear the latest about Charlie Sheen? Although most everyone thinks he’s a real nut case, there are those who believe he’s working his plan and it’s really quite an ingenious plan. Charlie may well be a marketing genius, positioning himself to come back to the screen bigger and better than ever.
