US Politician John Edwards is back in the news after finally admitting what everyone has known for two years, that he fathered Rielle Hunter’s child during a seamy affair that occurred while he was running for president and his wife was being treated for terminal cancer. (Can you tell this is not an impartial article? Living in North Carolina, I’ve known John Edwards for a long time.)

astrological chart includes a challenging square from Mars to his Midheaven, the point that represents career and public life. This shows a strong drive (Mars) to propel himself into the limelight (Midheaven) which includes the potential for reckless behavior as we’ve seen.
Transiting Saturn began a series of challenges to his chart beginning in 2007, coinciding with the revelation of the affair with Rielle Hunter by the National Enquirer. The story was not picked up by the mainstream media until July 2008 when transiting Saturn formed a square to Jupiter in his chart. Jupiter is the planet that gives us confidence and a sense that anything is possible, and a transit of Saturn, the planet of limitation, corrals that confidence and can create restrictions anywhere there is an excess of confidence.
Last year transiting Uranus (radical change and surprising new events) traversed over the Midheaven in Edwards’ chart between April and September within one degree, and last fall Saturn (challenges and restriction) crossed the Nadir of the chart, the point of home and inner life. During the early part of this period Edwards was investigated for campaign finance improprieties at which Ms. Hunter testified, and he evidently purchased a home for her near his family’s North Carolina beach house. Now John Edwards is on his way to Haiti, hoping to reconstruct his battered image. Transiting Saturn is stationing in an exact square to Venus in his chart, signifying challenges (Saturn) in his relationships (Venus). To make matters more difficult for him, transiting Pluto (death and transformation) is conjunct Venus at the same time. It’s a terrible shame to see a family self-destruct so publicly, and of course the real victims are always the children. Hopefully they will find the stability that they need to survive the fallout of this debacle.

I really felt betrayed by him. He was my Democratic nominee of choice up until this scandal broke. What he did to his wife is pretty hard to forgive or forget. She and the children, including the little girl he had with the mistress, are the real victims. I hope Edwards is sincere about being a good father to that little girl and wanting her to forgive him. Denying that he was her daddy was yet another of his betrayals. She deserved better than that.

John Edwards Edwards influenced the outcome of the democratic primaries in 2008. In Iowa, he and Mrs. Edwards spent their time attacking Hillary’s character and policies. In New Hampshire, Edwards tagged team with Obama to attack Hillary during the debate and he did the game thing later on in Philly. He knew that he had no chance of winning the democratic nomination but he could stop Hillary Clinton from getting it too and Obama would have given him a position in the administration if not for the National Inquirer exposing Edwards’s duplicity.

Thank you for this insightful take on the sad subject. He is truly a pathetic figure and his photo shows just how much this fiasco has cost him.
I would also be interested to see the chart of the sycophant, Rielle Hunter who is a neighbor of mine, or was at one time, (Not sure if she still has a home in Montecito). She sure worked out a great deal for herself.

I live also near where John Edwards makes his home. It was very embarrassing when all this came down. I walked around asking myself: Why is he spending so much effort hiding from the truth, is he really such a phony? Actually at one time he must have lived a descent life and then he became desperate for fame and power and it ate up his life. Is there any excuse for living a completely dishonest life hurting those around you? John Edwards has to come clean with himself before he even attempts to come back to public life. I thought going to Haiti to bring back Orphans was a good start.

What a disappointmenmt this has been! Edwards was my candidate, and I thought he was the perfect man for the US Presidency. In reality, he was an egomaniac setting himself up for implosion. Elizabeth vs. Rielle? GIVE ME A BREAK! His wife is an extraordinary lady and the other one is an opportunist. Thank God the scandal broke out at the right time. What a nightmare if he would have been the chosen candidate, elected to the Presidency, and then everything would have come out. I can’t see how he’s going to clean his image by going to Haiti… what he needs is more like 20 tsunamis and 35 earthquakes, all over the world, and not even then! And why did he need to get the “scarlet woman” a home close to his family? What gall! If I were Elizabeth,I would leave him. She doesn’t need to be further humiliated by this pretty boy! Let him go be with that ugly Rielle Hunter and their “indiscretion child”… please, don’t call this a “love child.”

Com’on Lynn, stop giving this ambulance-chasing, Mr. Slickfish the smitten Carolina-schoolgirl treatment. He’s a dirtbag, and all those planets in #12 prove it. He made a boatload of money, in a state that absolutely worships lawyers (7 law schools, going on 9!), by being a plaintiffs’ attorney. Other than maybe a small law-office staff, this guy couldn’t truly manage a pizza franchise. Rest assured, the woman he got caught with was only one of…how many?

Thomas, I think you must not have read my post. Smitten Carolina schoolgirl treatment? I have had a violent dislike of John Edwards since he quit his Senate seat to run for President and this has been clear in the posts I’ve written. If you’re going to comment, please at least read the articles!
