The astrology of Rush Limbaugh’s hospital scare

Rush Limbaugh was rushed to the hospital in Hawaii suffering severe chest pains while on vacation to play golf, but his doctors were unable to find anything wrong with them.  He should have consulted an astrologer instead.
Rush Limbaugh (1/12/1951, 7:50 am, Cape Girardeau MO) is, of course, a conservative talk show host whose listeners are known as “dittoheads.”  As astrologers, we often see the more extreme ideologies when there are inner conflicts between astrological signatures of conservatism (predominance of earth signs, Saturn) and signatures of liberal mindedness (air signs, Uranus).  That inner struggle between safety and security and more innovative thinking often results in an individual who becomes dogmatic on the right wing, or angrily rebellious on the left.
This is particularly true for those of us who have strong squares between Saturn and Uranus in our chart such as my own compatriots from the early 1950s.  Rush Limbaugh is one of those, with a nearly exact square between Saturn and Uranus, Aquarius, the innovator, is rising in his chart so in some ways you might expect Rush to tilt more to the left.  But with the Sun in Capricorn and Saturn opposite the Moon, that conservative bent won the battle between the two ideologies.  But more important, the opposition between Mars in Aquarius and Pluto shows an obsession with power that makes the conservative mind view much more comfortable than a more liberal perspective which Rush deems “weak.”
It is no secret that Limbaugh has been addicted to prescription drugs for some time.  In 2003 he admitted his addiction to OxyContin and hydrocodone, and in 2006 he was arrested on fraud charges after he was found “shopping doctors” to write prescriptions for Lorcet, Norco and generic hydrocodone.  Limbaugh’s aggressive exterior (he has Mars, the god of war, in the first house along with Jupiter, the planet that shows where think we should be King) belies a sensitive interior: he has a twelfth house Sun, with the Moon and Jupiter in Pisces.  Both Pisces and the twelfth house relate to a longing for an experience of transcendence, either through god, through divine creativity or through alcohol and drug addiction.
In astrology, the Sun represents the physical heart (the emotional heart is ruled by the Moon), and where there are heart problems we often find planetary cycles involving the Sun in the birthchart.  At the time of Limbaugh’s chest pains, and for the next few months, the Midheaven in his progressed chart was aligning with his Sun.  When the progressed Midheaven connects with planets in the birthchart, there is often a significant effect of some kind; it typically signifies a major change or transformation.  If there is a great pressure for change that meets with resistance, the body creates physical symptoms that mirror this pressure that has no release.  In this case, with the Sun’s being involved, it’s not surprising that the pressure was felt in the heart.
This pressure was exacerbated by a transit of Chiron (wounding and healing) over his Mars (aggression)  which culminated a couple of weeks before the hospital visit.  There was also a lunar eclipse on the day he was admitted (December 31) that formed a tight square (challenging aspect) to his Mars.  Mars is our aggressive instinct, and when we are feeling under pressure anyway and our Mars is activated, it requires a release of some kind.  In Limbaugh’s case that seems to have manifested as this undiagnosed pressure around the heart.
Limbaugh is not the healthiest guy in the world, and this alignment of the progressed Midheaven with the Sun could be problematic over the next few months until that aspect culminates in early May.

Neptune in Pisces and the question of reality
Neptune just slipped back into Pisces where it will remain until 2025.  Neptune's role in the astrological pantheon is to cause us to question where the physical world ends and a more transcendent reality begins.  It therefore rules our spiritual experience, but it can also be confusing and induce

I was thinking he faked the whole thing so he could make some phony new pronouncement about health care but who knows?

I can totally relate to what is going on with us Capricorns lately. My birthday is also 1/12/51, birth time 7:14 a.m. Ms. Hayes is right on with her assessment. Hopefully it will get better for us Capricorns.
Thank you Ms. Hayes for your valuable expertise and insight.

I listen to him occasionally when I’m driving somewhere. I figure it’s worth knowing exactly what he’s saying and getting a variety of viewpoints. Limbaugh has been singing the praises of a new diet he’s been on for the last several months and boasting about how he can live it up and put on weight and then take it off by going on a strict diet when he decides it’s time. A history of yo you dieting can’t be very good for his heart or his body.
Limbaugh loves his cat and often talks about her. I find that a mark in his favor. I’d guess that he has a fair amount of shyness and sensitivity and insecurity somewhere in his makeup and that his radio persona is largely for show. I don’t wish him ill.

Boy you folks are really with it. Rush is a Drug abusing over eating loud mouth gas bag. Astrology is a fraud just like Rush. Unless we have rational thinking on the planet we are doomed. You folks and Rush are on the same side of the equation. Keep up the good work and we can kiss this planet goodbye.

God speed to the Rushball! Love him and his views! To the poster on the healthcare issue. Obama will likely fly in some witch doctors from his native zimbabwe or where ever he came from, who will pronounce their spells and cure us all!

If I say, for example, that Mitch McConnell is an obstructionist or that Rush Limbaugh is the Supreme Leader of the Republican Party, it doesn’t mean I hate them. I actually don’t give enough of a *&@# about them to reach that level.

When Rush was himself doing drugs legally and illegally– on his radio station he aired his feeling that drug users should get more time and he vocally was very against drug use. There are people with drug problems who are open and honest about it. So it is his hypocrisy which turned me off beside the scare tactics he uses to drum up business on his radio show.

Limbaugh says that he received excellent treatment at the hospital in Hawaii. All his news puts the spotlight on Hawaii and its health care for a bit. Here is some info on it:
In Hawaii, Blue Cross writes about 78% of all the health care insurance policies, and Kaiser Permanente writes another 20%. Thus, just two companies write 98% of all the health care insurance in the state, which, reportedly has only about 6% uninsured. So, the argument about “competition” may not be as important as many think. It sounds like, at least in Hawaii, it has been state government involvement that has been the driver there. Employers are mandated to provide coverage. What are the details of why premiums in Hawaii are so low? I don’t have that answer, but it could be that when you have nearly everyone covered, the premiums come down for everyone. That is certainly a goal of health care reform.

Chiron- nobody said it is wrong to take painkillers, even to lie to people about it, but to come across on a radio show that people who use drugs are somehow the dregs of society, to be at the same time taking painkillers at illegal doses and getting them illegally is outright wrong. Limbaugh was arrested for buying oxy-contin from the street in large quantities. You or I would see mucho jail time for that, Limbaugh never spent a moment in jail.

You are right but it is all up to Rush and his God. When someone makes a living from public perception, they are open to public criticism. Rush is in a similar position to a politician but he can’t be voted off his radio show, so it is up to his public to criticize him, to let his bosses (Fox TV) know what our perception is. Understand whether we listen to him or not we are still his public because if he says something wrong I get mad, because I know many people believe everything he says. Fini

Millionaires rarely go to prison and besides, Rush has friends in high places so of course he’d get a pass. No, Rush didn’t spend one day in jail but his overdosing destroyed his hearing rendering him totally deaf. That’s why he now uses an implant. Pity it wasn’t his tongue so we wouldn’t have to listen to his BS but we can only hope that one day real Patriotic Americans will see through this evil corporate lapdog and stop listening to him.
Ironic, had Rush used heroin instead of the “hillbilly” variety he’d still have his hearing.
