Top planetary events of the week, November 2-8 2009

by Lynn Hayes

Sorry this comes a day late!  What with the Skywatch and the Full Moon I got a bit behind. :)

This is written for the Eastern time zone, please adjust for your own locality.

1.  Full Moon on the 2nd!  Moon is in Taurus, squared by Mars in Leo.  For more information read my Full Moon post.
2.  Busy Moon on the 3rd in challenging square to the Big Three (Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune).  Emotional rollercoaster likely, but Taurus will try to keep the peace.
3.  Moon enters Gemini late on Tuesday opening the doors of communication and mental activity.
4.  Neptune turns direct on the 4th!  Creativity, spirituality - and perhaps confusion enter the mix.
5.  Sun conjoins Mercury in Scorpio on the 5th - Gemini Moon wants superficiality but the Scorpio Mercury must go deep.  Today you have to choose, and Scorpio usually wins.
6.  Moon enters Cancer early am on the 6th.
7.  Venus enters Scorpio on the evening of the 7th, and now there are three planets in Scorpio.  Intense, focused, fierce!
8.  Moon enters Leo on the 8th, the harbinger of a busy astrological day.  More focus is put now on the role of the individual and that means ME.
9.  Mercury squares Jupiter, bringing the potential for arguments and a bit of arrogant behavior on the part of SOMEONE.
10. Venus sextiles Pluto, softening the effect of #9 and encouraging the conversation to deepen and enrich the lives of everyone.

No radio show Sunday the 8th!  I'll be in Jamaica, Mon.

Lynn's Skywatch: Planetary Illuminations for November

is posted here.

Here's the introduction, I'll post more on tomorrow's Full Moon later today.  To sign up for your own free subscription, which includes a translation into English from the original astrologese, please visit my website!

The beginning of November brings an increased intensity over October's relatively pleasant planetary atmosphere. The Sun and Mercury have both moved into Scorpio, the sign of darkness and power. Scorpio calls us into the Underworld where we must shed any skin that hides us from our true selves, and this will be even more true as Saturn begins to face off in a square to Pluto.

Saturn has entered Libra now, beginning a 2-1/2 year period of restructuring our relationships and the things that we value, including the ways in which we value ourselves. Areas where we have fallen out of the Libran need for balance will be tested now, as will areas of injustice and inequality.

At the beginning of November Saturn is less than one degree from the square to Pluto, and this dynamic will intensify throughout the month until it peaks on November 15. Pluto is of course the planet of death and power, and when it faces off against Saturn, as it does every 7-9 years, it tests us to one degree or another. Some of these tests are more challenging than others: Stressful aspects between Saturn and Pluto occurred in March of 1993, coinciding with the riots in Los Angeles following the Rodney King beating and a constitutional crisis in Russia, and in August of 2001 just before the September 11 tragedy.

On a personal level, this planetary dynamic demands that we face the hard truths (Saturn) in our life and face any potential destruction (Pluto) with trust and courage. Saturn looks for areas of our life where we may be deluded or confused, and Pluto destroys only that which no longer serves us in our evolutionary process. Any collateral damage that occurs along the way is part of the plan, and this is where absolute faith is required in order to avoid the kind of despair that can occur with the loss of our ideals.

If the dynamic of these two Lords of Death are integrated within the psyche, a new understanding of the darkness of death can be the gift that emerges. Pluto rules the wealth that is found underground such as gold and minerals, and the combination of Saturn and Pluto can, by creating tremendous pressure, create diamonds out of the coal of our every day lives.

The square of Saturn to Pluto will be within a degree between November and February.

White House email: Mars/Mercury in action

by Lynn Hayes

It was only Friday that I wrote:

Mercury is the planet that rules over communication, the transmission of information and the operation of small machinery, and for the next week or so it will be under stress, potentially causing disruptions in the way we communicate with others and the smooth operation of business. ...

Mars is the planet that stimulates desire and passion, and it is in Mercury's other sign of Gemini.  A heightened intensity in communication is one of the hallmarks of Mars in Gemini and we are certainly seeing this with the fervor exhibited in the Town Hall meetings over health care that began last week when Mars (aggression) made a square to Saturn (authority figures)..

Today hysteria erupted on Fox News over unsolicited emails from the White House regarding healthcare reform.  In a press conference on August 13, a correspondent from Fox News, Major Garrett, asked press secretary Robert Gibbs about complaints Fox had received regarding unsolicited email from the White House.  Gibbs asked Garrett whether he had the email addresses that were the subject of the complaint so that he could check those addresses against the White House distribution list, and Fox News has distorted this to appear that the White House has a list that targets dissenters and sends them unsolicited propaganda emails.

(Disclosure:  BeliefNet is a subsidiary of Fox Media.  Sorry Rupert!!)

This story actually began last week, when Senator John Cornyn reacted to a request from the  White House Director of New Media to report "fishy" emails about health insurance reform to a special email address.  Cornyn wrote to President Obama of his concerns about what he called a "White House program to monitor" the speech of American citizens.

The fervor over free speech that has suddenly erupted with the Town Hall hysteria and the flak over emails from the White House is consistent with the planetary aspects we are blessed with over the next week.  Don't go outside without your psychological bulletproof vest!

From the Daily Skywatch: Grounding and Balancing today

by Lynn Hayes.  This is written for Eastern time zone, with GMT in parentheses for international readers - please adjust accordingly for your own part of the world.  You can see the positions of today's planets here.

This comes from the subscription-only Daily Skywatch but today offers so much promise I wanted to share it with anyone.

As promised, Monday is a peaceful day with lots of grounding Earth energy.  It is a phenomenal day for business ventures and brianstorming to create a detailed plan for the future.  The mind is clear today and the emotions are focused so take advantage of it!

Mercury in detail-oriented Virgo is great for planning, and Mercury forms a harmonious trine to Pluto which will be in effect for most of the afternoon.  This helps us to focus our thoughts like a laser and accomplish all of our intentions with relative ease.

The Capricorn Moon is all about organization, goals for the future, evaluating where we have come from and where we are going and beginning at around 6 pm (10 pm GMT) the Moon forms a harmonious trine to Saturn which further aligns our heart with our goals.  This aspect will culminate at around 8 pm (midnight GMT) and then will begin to subside.  But there is an entire day's worth of fabulous focus available for us to take advantage of today.

Top planetary events of the week: July 20-26, 2009

by Lynn Hayes.  This is written for Eastern time zone with GMT in parentheses where necessary for our international friends - please adjust accordingly for your own part of the world.  You can see the positions of today's planets here.

1.  Mercury makes a harmonious sextile to Mars on the 20th.  Great energy for anything involving the mind, especially since Mars is in Gemini which is Mercury's sign.  Communication, short trips, writing - all are favored today and tomorrow.

2.  New Moon in Cancer and solar eclipse 10:35 pm EDT on the 21st (or the 22nd at 2:35 am GMT).  See previous article here.

3.  Venus squares Saturn the afternoon (early evening GMT) on the day of the eclipse, creating potential problems with relationships and challenging us to see things the way they really are, not the way we want them to be.

4.  The Moon enters Leo one hour after the New Moon.  A brand new shift of experience, taking us into joy and a greater appreciation for the Self.

5.  Exact conjunction of Jupiter to Chiron, both in Aquarius, on the 22nd.  This aspect is part of the Triple Conjunction of Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune and will merely accelerate the expansion (Jupiter) of the necessity to venture deeply into our inner wounds (Chiron) so that we can more deeply connect with the soul (Neptune).

6.  The Sun enters Leo on the 22nd.  Leo is the Sun's sign, and encourages us to celebrate life - to find joy even in the midst of crisis.

7.  The Moon enters Virgo late in the evening on the 23rd (early morning on the 24th GMT), turning our attention to the details of life.

8.  Venus enters Libra just after midnight (early morning GMT) on the 26th, encouraging us to seek harmony and beauty in every aspect of our life.

9.  Venus forms a harmonious trine to Jupiter on the 27th that will begin to be felt on the 26th. There are a number of harmonious lunar transits that day as well, ensuring that Sunday the 26th will be an excellent day for just about anything!
