Nothing like a summer vacation to lift your spirits, especially after an especially stressful winter and spring. Pope Benedict, currently staying at the papal summer residence of Castel Gondolfo, has just gotten another reason to relax after his scandal-plagued Year for Priests: the three plaintiffs in a Kentucky clergy sex abuse lawsuit against the Vatican, who had hoped to question the pope himself under oath, have decided to drop their case. (There are still two other lawsuits pending against the Holy See, which victims’ attorney Jeff Anderson says will proceed.)
In semi-related news, the Vatican has rejected the resignation offers from two Irish bishops, related to the decades-long clergy abuse scandal and cover-up in that country.
Not surprisingly, this news has upset the Survivors of those Abused by Priests (SNAP).

Dublin’s Archbishop Martain tries to get rid of 2 priests who covered up the abuse of priests, by allowing them to resign and Benny (AKA the Vatican) shoots him down! The man was trying to do his job, but apparently Benny doesn’t like the way he was doing it, so decides not to accept the resignitions of the priests. Secrecy continues to reign in Vatican-Land. If I ever had any respect for Benny, deeds like this would slowly take it away.

We know you hadn’t respect for him from the get go, so I hope he wasn’t holding his breath.

Benedict XVI is a good man. He has taken this scandal much more seriously than John Paul II did. He is not guilty of any of these accusations. The left wing anti-Christs are using these ploys to attack the good guys and letting the bad guys off the hook.

The “left wing anti-Christs”? What about the right wing anti-Christs? What are they up to?
Maybe they’re still protecting child molesters and their protectors from the highest parts of the Vatican.
Way to cut him off at the knees. Apparently he was way too serious about cleaning a dirty house.

LOL. The left has its’ share of “protected” pedophiles too! It pays to be very rich and to donate to the democrats.

Robert C. So true, my lack of respect for Benny is well known. If indeed he was holding his breath, he would be with his Heavenly Hosts by now.

Yes. Luckily he was too busy elsewhere to notice Pagan. And there are many more around left with more than enough respect for the man and the position to carry around a spare tank of oxygen just in case another Mehmet Ali A?ca decides that they are the arbitor of God’s will on earth. In the meantime, blessed be the secrecy.
