The Pacific Northwest may be the least churched part of America, but two big religion stories come from my backyard today: a new Catholic archbishop heading to Seattle, and The Seattle Weekly announcement that “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day” cartoonist Molly Norris has gone into hiding for her own safety.

Wow. Things were already hopping around my home office with the Jewish and Muslim holidays, Glenn Beck’s faith-related ambitions, and preparing for the upcoming Religion Newswriters Association conference in Denver… not to mention that papal visit to the United Kingdom, where the news includes Pope Benedict’s (once again) apology for the clergy sex abuse crisis, an alleged threat on his life thwarted by five arrests, and the outcry over whether he just equated atheists with Nazis…

I think I envy Sartain his new location, if not his position. Seattle seems like a nice place to live, with intelligent people around.
It’s surprising to me how few people realize how different Mormonism and Christianity are. But I’d think Beck is a jerk whether I knew that or not.
And those Muslims who react to humor like Norris’s by causing a ruckus need to grow up, while those who order her death need to go to trial then jail for decades.

I believe that Norris has the honor of being the first American citizen forced into hiding by the Religion of Peace. I fear she will not be the last.
Once upon a time, America was where people from the rest of world came for sanctuary from Islamist assassins.

I would not call it an “honor” that Norris had to go into hiding. Their is no honor in insulting others. Too many Americans are abysmally ignorant of the effects of their flaunting of “freedom.”

Michael “God” needs to show us it’s there and what it’s like before a lot of us would care to to, or even know how to “live as servants of God”. You seem to have accepted “servitude” of a sort with no real evidence but a lot of us would need actual evidence.

Michael gives us good advice from God. Right is right. When you do good and right things you have good results. The ten commandments, and the torah give good advice, and it’s from God directed humans whether we have proof or not. Your proof is your results in living.

As I thought guys that “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day” it is a complain that give support to the freedom of speech, especially to those who oppose or threaten the artist, like cartoonist who draw representations of Muhammad.
I also checked the Catholic News that talks about the Archbishop of Seattle, Bishop James Peter Sartain. Just want to congratulate Archbishop Sartain new bishop of Seattle. May you be a blessing to all the people of Seattle, GOD Bless!
