If you’ve been out celebrating Halloween, Reformation Sunday, All Saints’ Day, Dia de los Muertos, Samhain or all/none of the above, you may have missed some really scary religion news: Muslim terrorists have killed dozens of Iraqi Christians inside a Baghdad cathedral, and are being investigated for trying to send bombs from Yemen to Chicago-area synagogues (including an LGBT-friendly house of worship).
On top of that, Jewish settlers have been accused of starting fires at mosques and a church in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
So, not a great weekend for the Islam=peace crowd and optimistic proponents of Abrahamic interfaith harmony. (Is it ever these days? Sigh.)

Thank you for having the courage to write about these atrocities that are being committed on a daily basis. Everyone should be outraged at what’s going in the world today. Beliefnet all too often glosses over the negative aspects of religious fanaticism.

Based on this, the Muslims and Jews in the Middle East deserve each other. But of course it’s misleading; most Muslims there don’t kill Christians and most Jews there don’t burn mosques and churches.
So more correctly the fundamentalist Muslims and Jews in the Middle East deserve each other. I’d be tempted to try to find a way to let them have their fights man on man without involving the moderates in both places.
