Don’t mess with Texas, indeed: CNN reports that polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs has been found guilty of sexually assaulting his 12- and 15-year-old “wives.” (Remember how the Utah courts couldn’t get this done?) The Texas jury is deliberating whether to lock him up for life.
No word yet on whether Jeffs, who presides over the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (not to be confused with current Mormons), will remain head of his group, but in an odd bit of timing, he was officially re-recognized as the corporation’s president yesterday.

Good for that court! I understand he told them what happened was God’s will. I wish more people took hard looks at claims like that.

I couldn’t agree more with you nmms!! I think I remember “Belief Beat” reporting on the updates of this case, and I was hoping that the court would “throw the book at him”, and I’m glad they have! I don’t know if this guy was a radical fundamentalist, and so, being an Australian, I can’t say much about this case from that point of view. However, with all due respect to decent fundamentalists who subscribe to this site, if my suspicion is true, it, to me, demonstates how destructive it sometimes can be, when passages are taken literally, and thus seemingly trivialised. The definition of a destructive religious cult is like alcoholism-if alcohol controls you instead of the other way around you are an alcoholic.
If they try to ruin your reputation and break up your family for trying to get out then they are a cult!
Please examine the Jehovah’s Witnesses pedophiles go door to door and come on our property. Many court documents and news events prove that Jehovah’s Witnesses suppress evidence when a child comes forward with allegations of molestation within the congregation.
Whenever you surrender your logic and reason to anyone who asks you to trust them because they know better it’s possibly a cult.If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck….
