The U.S. military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” ban on openly gay troops ended yesterday, and as many outlets have noted, we’re all still safe and sound. Check out the AP’s story and video here.
If anything, military recruiting looks poised to improve, as a result:
- -Several top universities that had kicked ROTC off campus during the Vietnam War and then continued the ban due to protests against the DADT policy are now inviting military branches to return.
- -Thousands of soldiers and sailors who were discharged under DADT are now eligible to re-enlist.
- -And for an outside-the-box angle, check out this fascinating NYT story about Marine recruiters invited to a gay community center in Tulsa, Okla.
But now we wait and see, if there’s going to be an exodus of chaplains from religious groups that believe homosexuality is sinful…

I sincerely hope those whining chaplains leave the service. The soldiers and the nation would be better off. These people have been treasonously dividing our service people for decades in the quest for power and gotten away with it. Let them spew their venom to audiences that aren’t captive.
