Catholic comedian Stephen Colbert devoted a “Yahweh or No Way” segment to the new English translation of the Roman Missal (Mass). Only Colbert could work in references to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire” and They Might Be Giants’ ”Istanbul (Not Contantinople)” into that story! Plus there’s some funny stuff about Pope Benedict’s “need for speed” and disregard for seatbelt laws in his popemobile, and a ridiculous holiday season shopping ad:

In breaking religion news that just made me smile with relief, JTA reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is canceling an ad campaign about the dangers of Israelis marrying Americans. (Your kids might call you Daddy instead of Abba!) On a related note, doesn’t the “Ministry of Immigrant Absorption” sound awfully Orwellian? Maybe it sounds better in Hebrew.

There is NO way your kid will EVER callyou anything other than …whatever “Daddy” is in one’s language, if the parent puts his foot down:)
