Archbishop Chaput weighs in against "Obama Catholics"--and for...?
Denver's Archbishop Charles Chaput combines an intellectual's depth with the doughty persona of a politicker, which is what he used to be--he worked for the RFK campaign and later, even as a priest, was a campaign volunteer for Jimmy Carter. Some say he's still a political operative, though for the

The Hagee-Donohue ticket: "Liberals' worst nightmare"
The elaborate courtship of Texas televangelist John Hagee--who is covering McCain's evangelical flank--and the Catholic League's Bill Donohue, who accused Hagee of anti-Catholicism for his "Great Whore" sermonizing and other standard anti-papist barbs, always seemed to hold about as much suspense as

An olive branch to divorced-and-remarried Catholics?
An item in the current edition of The Tablet of London hints at a possible opening for divorced and remarried Catholics to receive communion--even though many do, obviously, their ban from the altar under church law remains one of the sorest pastoral points in the US church. It is also a sore point

The key to Benedict...
It is summed up in a response recounted by Father Jim Martin, a Jesuit and author who posts (and edits) at America magazine's blog. Father Martin has a post on "Three Unreported Papal Stories" from last month's visit. The third is the payoff:
Third: Another priest friend serving as a secretary to on

Guerilla tactics and the "Communion Wars"...Doug Kmiec is denied communion for backing Obama
It seems that the former Reagan adviser and Catholic conservative legal scholar from Pepperdine, Doug Kmiec--heretofore a man with impeccable judicial and pro-life credentials--has been barred from communion for his support for Barack Obama. In a posting yesterday, Kmiec did not give details, but wr

Good information, well presented. An asset to the world at large, regardless of spiritual affiliation. Will be interested in Mr. Gibsons reporting, vignette(s),and insight throughout the Papal visit here.

Hmm. Do you think any of this will impress the Holy Father, who is an expert on liturgy and a classical musician?
The Holy Father who thinks the saving grace of stadium Masses is the somewhat iffy possibility that someone, somewhere in the stadium, might successfully respond to the command, “sursum corda!” ??

The Contributer is ALL -FOR a ‘celeb’ that will open up the populus to the Inner Workings of GOD, and His HOLY SPIRIT!
The celeb’ who may be “Tapped” need View the Oportunity ,as an Opportunity to Minister .. TO GOD & For GOD!! — ( NOT JUST another opportunity for a ‘Tax Write-Off’, or another Performance to ‘further BOOST their Record Sales!!)

Benedict is the leader of a liturgy led recovery.
The correct liturgy replaces seeking Jesus in the new RCism.

It is a great honor to have the Pope visit the U.S. As a traditional liturgist I look forward to his masses. People must learn that the Roman Church is not a democracy and follows the liturgy(Benedict) of the ancient church. And I, for one, welcome the security that that brings. The consular Popes: John23,paul,John Paul, etc. have led the church to the brink of heresy. It’s time we come back from that brink.

I believe that it is very nice to see several celebrities performing for Pope Benedict. But the most important thing is that his trip becomes the starting point for many Catholics to renew their faith. Regardless of the fanfare, it would be interesting to find out why are these celebrities really performing for the pope? Is it because they truly believe in the Catholic faith or is it just for publicity? Only they know their hearts.
